*Question:* Why NYC Public Housing is Unprepared For Coronavirus? *Answer:* On March 2nd, 2020. NYC Mayor, Bill de Blasio: "I'm encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite the Coronavirus! NYC Health Commissionaire: "Their is no reason not to take the Subway, not to take the Bus, not to go out to your favorite restaurant and certainly not to miss the parade next Sunday"
Wrong. No _CITY_ is prepared. Plenty of small towns such as the one I live in are handling this just fine. It's the major urban centers that are the problem. Cities always cause strife, even for people who live in rural areas.
I believe it was done on purpose to eradicate homeless. i been seeing homeless people around nyc terrorizing local business and random acts of violence. KILLING them is not the answer.
Did you do any research or just make up this fake fact? 2 seconds on the internet told me that WA was never mentioned as having a large homeless population. @@shab3134 Who are you addressing? You don't got to be in any type of social class to look at a newspaper, or even turn on telemundo to know what's happening.
Basically, NYCHA housing is a ticking time bomb because (in the one housing project this guy visited): 1) there are no COVID-19 posters in the lobbies and hallways, 2) they aren't washing the elevators more often, and 3) the elevators can get crowded. The point about access to information is ridiculous. Public housing is not an assisted-living facility. Most residents are just middle to low-income New Yorkers without disabilities and do not need any special treatment. Living in public housing is not glamorous but it is not the tragedy that they make it out to be. Shame on the documentary makers for such a manipulative portrayal and sensational title.

The government and corrupt real estate developers provide it, and these people turn good towns into overcrowded cesspools. Then cry racism when you advocate for your town.
Lol where do you people live? I’ve lived nyc, Nj & Florida. Housing always kept the buildings spotless. But hand sanitizer and wipes in the projects wouldn’t last a day. Somebody is stealing it or defacing it with zero cares.
Why is it the housing authority's job to notify the residents? They aren't stupid people. They all have phones and TVs. They know all the other "news". Why wouldn't they know what is going on? And why wouldn't the ones who do know, warn their neighbors?
Same reason the people who grind day in day out fund low income housing, SNAP, EBT, and other assistance programs. When im driving to a job site i pass groups of adults in their mid 20s just hangin out on the benches and corners. Not gonna find a job like that. 😤

I'm willing to bet the majority of those residents have a TV. Information on what to do is constantly broadcast by the various TV stations. So forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical when I hear they're not receiving information concerning covid-19.
You'd think the fact that the streets are empty, grocery stores are either in chaos or shelves wiped out, and every single form of media, internet, social networks, tv, radio, etc is all talking about it, ppl would have an idea about what's going on.

The odd thing is that New Yorkers continue to vote for the same party that enslaves them and then they think they are smarter than the rest of America. @@girlbossrules9554 not every apartment is like that. Be honest, New Yorkers think they are invincible and they give the bird to all these silly restrictions.
Really ??? People. learn to come together. Clean your own front door and in front of it. You people always have your hand out and expect everyone else to clean up after you make the mess.
Easy to do a "personal responsibility" comment. I pray for ALL AMERICANS 🙏, and please everyone have mercy for the weak. (Mentally and physically)
Andy Putman You are so very right!
Just as easy to pray for people.
Easy to do a "prayers" comment.
Harmon McCraw respectfully, we don’t need a pandemic to show us the truth about ourselves. You would have had to be asleep not to see the evidence of what activities and behaviors humans sanction as acceptable nowadays and not know the truth about us humans’ selfish and sinful nature when it is not yielded to a Power greater than ourselves. Health and safety to you and your family as well🙏
@Harmon McCraw
"O Hearer of prayer, to you people of all sorts will come."
Psalm 65:2
Oh! Prayer is Powerful.
Especially when you pray to the true God, Jehovah. In Jesus name of course.
Jehovah is the Only hearer of Prayer.

Maybe if the residents would stop using the elevator and stairways as a toilet,it wouldn't be a ticking time bomb?
Totally agree 💯
I'm not saying it's an easy situation, but if that young man has access to Facebook and Safari, he has access to information; information he can share with other tenants.
How if it's not on his Rader
Um
“Facebook and *Safari* “
My sheltered suburbanite detector is going off the charts...
The Jack0fHearts are you telling me that all these people live in isolation with no contact with the outside world...come on...people need to get a little personal responsibility. I literally saw several people walking around wearing masks during this video, so obviously they have to know something.
My thing is he has access to misinformation which is usually what is spread in these communities bc of mistrust of government
This is really fkn sad but it's a daily reality for the poor and lower class. The Rich can ride this out in their multi billion dollar homes on 20 acre lands with all the information, food, supplies, that one could possibly need but us poor people we've gotta hand on tight, get what little we can afford to make it through the month & hope and pray that our family stays safe.
If I could pull myself out of this unending poverty I would but it's not as simple as you'd think.
Please share the correct COVID-19 info with your loved ones especially your poor & elderly friends/family who may not understand all of the dangers and precautions to take during this time. Stay safe everyone and God bless you all 🙏😓
Hope you'll pull through this man, I'm not really poor myself, not rich either, but I have zero sympathy or care for rich people with power. NONE
Wait, nobody chooses to be poor, if they had a choice they'd be richer.
free range Chimkin Nuggets You are not entitled to anyones money no matter how much they have. Also rich people dont live in multi billion dollar homes because frankly there are none.
They worked for it.
@God what's wrong with you?
This video is pointless... just because they don’t have internet doesn’t mean they can’t watch the news . Everyone is on their own during this they just have to use Lysol or wipes for the elevator and door handles . And the kids hanging outside together they know what’s going on he said safari and Facebook is what he’s using so he know just because they’re in a low income community doesn’t mean anything .
This is reality. In a country where middle class keeps shrinking this is the majority’s fate.
No such thing as middle class. Called the working poor. Period
Get out of the cities
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
You have to do for YOURSELF. Help is all over the place. Good job training and college. FREE. Just have to stop having kids you can't afford and expect others to care for them. And be smart and get married, it's better for your kids. If you don't love them FIRST, DO NOT screw around with them.
.
Use a background check. Obey it.
I know this for a fact. Anyone can do it. You gotta do for YOU.
@@debbieb9628 No....you have to know your worth, be skilled in several things and ask for your worth. NOBODY is going to OFFER YOU more money. You have to get some and ASK FOR IT.
And don't get in a minimum wage position. That's just foolhardy. Get skills. Free help is everywhere online. Go to it.
This reminds me of the Hurricane Katrina situation.
Do not compare
Bill Gates he didn't, if you learned how to comprehend sentences that is.
Those affected by Katrina were too stupid to leave when told to do so.

In my building they had everything up as soon as everything happened. I guess it depends on which pjs you live in
Why would anyone live in the "pjs". You say it so casually. Buggin.
Well you're white or look like it at least...that must be why🙄
But are they cleaning though? Are you and the rest of your neighbors cleaning? What are you guys doing to stay safe???
Dave Everett lmao
Anthony W This is not a race thing, plenty of poor white people in TN and no one gives 2 fucks about them, majority are on meth
These people live on top of each other just like they do in China. When you wad yourselves up together like this, then it doesn`t take much to make everyone sick.
1960gambit Everyone can’t afford to live on 10 acres my friend.
They make it seem like the cleaning people are the ones making it so dirty
Cajjdiem true but if your job is to clean around the hallways and elevator weekly or daily, it would make those living in the building want to be cleaner too
@@melanyleavitt Weird but typical response. You think it's the cleaners' job to make the residents want to be cleaner? 🤦♂️
The cleaners' job is to clean. The residents' job is to avoid dirtying the place as much as they can.
Oop, oop. I heard that!!
People dump their garbage in the hallways and stairwells and then ask why its so dirty.
@@melanyleavitt IDK about that. If 2000 people are making a mess waiting for a few cleaning guys to come through... Imagine if some of those people took it into their own hands.... Is that really asking too much? What low expectations people have
Like my father always told me... There’s always two sides to a story...
Match Styx nycha has never done anything the ones that know what is actually going on are the tenants
Mine said there was 3...his...hers...and the truth. It lies somewhere in the middle.
Yeah? What's the other side?

Nobody in that building has a television? No cell phones, radios or newspapers? No way to communicate with the outside world? Doesn't make sense.
Patricia I understand you and good point. The women are gonna have to get things started in these buildings, they are the only hope. The men will help out and back them up ONCE IT'S STARTED but it NEEDS to be started NOW! I understand they are gonna have to practice the social distance and it can be done in small groups. But NO MORE TALKING, ACTION HAS TO BE TAKEN, it's very critical right now.
I understand Patricia, but people who have a news paper, radio or cellphone STILL DONT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY.. the fact that they aren't at least making an attempt to show people how to protect themselves is a cruel reminder of what communities get priority and aid over the other.
They sent millions, billions to the richest company and gave none to the residents

I’m an electrician working on a new NYC public housing project in Queens and I have to say, it is going to be a BEAUTIFUL building when it is finished. Unfortunately, I’m sure whoever ends up living there is going to trash it within a few years, judging by the state of the buildings surrounding it.
A lot of people not taking this serious!! That’s the problem!! Still traveling!!! No gloves!! No masks!!! And touching everything!!! ????
Someone commented without watching the video
Jo Pearson I think you need to watch again!!! Clearly there’s people getting on the elevator with no gloves!!! Did you see that!!!?? Or you missed that part !! Actually I see it every day!!!
I watched it four times!!! 😂😂😂😂
