This hit me super hard. I think mainly because I am in the food industry and appreciate how close you can get with people under those circumstances. At times it can be so strange because you never really know when you might work that last shift with that amazing person. Sometimes its announced and planned but at other times its so sudden, and it seems like you’ll just never see that person again. Most of the time you don’t, and at least for me sometimes I think about these amazing people, where they could be, how they are etc.

You have acknowledged u have an addiction and that’s the first step. You sound educated and have worked hard to amass things which gives u comfortability in life. Do you really want to lose that and your family over liquid poison? U can do this, let today be the start. And when ur clean remember it’s ur determination and courage which got you there. I’m the female version of what this man went through and I don’t blame God. This man went through a lot. I always say if a female are hit hard with a past like that it hits males 100% times worse for males. I pray for you and this man to find peace and know that God never wanted us to have any type of suffering but follow sainthood like his only Son. (I hope one day you find the presence of God on Earth; your best ticket is asking His presence through the Holy Spirit) I have atheist friends and will never push my religion because they are better people than others and they respect that I chose to believe in something in this world and that is what God is about; accepting others for who, what, how and where we are from; past, present and our future selves.

      @llerej. 3 года назад +2

Too Much-Online Well isn’t that hypocritical of you? You didn’t keep your belief to yourself, but you expect others to? Understand that people of all religions share their beliefs for the same reasons you share your belief here on RUclips. Simply because they believe they’re right. Instead of trying to prove them wrong, which is impossible anyways. Why not just leave it alone?
Also to blame everything on religion is pretty dull. Why not blame the individuals who led in the destruction of society and flush them, and them alone down the toilet. Generalizations get society no where. And while you’re going on radically spreading your belief, it seems you’re becoming the very poison you’re so afraid of. Could it be? Oh yeah, God bless you by the way!

When Adrian seid, alcohol doesn't really work anymore, but it's always there for him. Thats how I feel every day. It's always there for me, no matter how hard life may hit me, I never pannic now, as long as I have a few bottles of wine in the house. I know it's got my back.. but as a kid I had to deal with trauma alone. Just me and my mum. I never want to feel that scaird again.. I don't drink for fun. I have it close to me,, just in case life gets hard and no one is there when I ask for help.. I can rely on my wine to help me feel strong enough to cope... I can relate to Adrian alot. Lots of people pcan probably relate to him, feeling full of potential, but the pain and fear he feels has been holding him back.. iv also done nothing I feel really proud of yet either. Your not alone Adria. Thanks Mark for adding at the end, that we are still worth having a good life, even though we feel so brocken. 💔 Please dear God and angels, please help those who feel brocken, find a way to feel hole, new, well, loved, safe and peaceful 😢😟🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️ Amen 💙☮️

Melissa Collins I relate to what you’re saying. Alcohol was always there to calm the panic. I developed PTSD from a sexual assault while I was delivering mail. I was an alcoholic before that. That’s how I dealt with the chaos in my life. By creating more chaos. I finally said enough is enough. I booked a flight 1100 miles away and went to detox and rehab. It’s not easy, but it was totally worth it.

One thing I learned early in life was intelligence wouldn't get me out of my situation. I don't know if it's trauma or genetics or both but I didn't adjust to life and have drank and drugged for the better part of my life. Never had a career, a marriage, or children, the latter two a likely blessing for whoever. Being 55, feeling like the pariah of 120+ grandchildren my parents parents had I've lived in the shadows and avoided everything. Was labeled with major maladjustment; outlook: Grave I just do my best to survive day to day. The most consistent memory through my life has been a deep, free-floating anxiety that's kept me incapacitated most of my life. I hope Adrian finds some serenity and lasting recovery.

I can relate to his story all too well. Being a heavy drinker is a heavy burden that don’t seem to go away until you get real w/ yourself. We tend to convince ourselves we are hiding it but in reality most people that get close to a heavy drinker sees the issue. When the party stops, you start to feel shameful about your drinking because deep down you know it is robbing your full potential. It may helps Adrian’s to know he is not alone. I am a 44 year old bar tender who drinks every day. Recently I scheduled an impatient treatment through a local psychiatrist so I can detox safely. The day comes when what once worked no long fits in your thought process or a projected life you see for yourself. It truly gets old.

Clicking on this video, I expected to be angry with this man for being an alcoholic. My father was an alcoholic and I was very lucky that my mom left him and kept me safe from his self sabotaging behavior. But I do admit that I am still very angry at my father, even though he passed from alcoholism years ago, because I was robbed of having a father in my life due to his addiction. So I do tend to harbor judgement for addicts but this series has really opened up my eyes. So many of these people suffered severe abuse or neglect in their childhoods and that ultimately shaped who they are as adults. They numb the pain with drugs or alcohol because they were so badly traumatized. This man seems very intelligent and kind. I am so glad that he raised his children to walk the right path in their lives and made them aware of the dangers of substance abuse. I am glad he is close with God and willing and trying to get better. I pray that he is able to get sober and improve his life. You can just hear the pain in his voice but also the glimmer of hope that he will recover.

I’m still angry with my mom because I was completely robbed of a childhood to take care of her, the household chores & my siblings. She’s still alive but is hospitalized constantly for pancreatitis. She went septic once, was in a medicated coma for 27 days, when my middle son was only 2 months old. I spent every single day at the hospital because I’m her next of kin & had to make all the decisions. That was almost 7yrs ago & it took me till 3yrs ago to set boundaries for my own mental health & my 3 boys. I have a lot of anger towards alcoholics. But not all their stories are the same. They’re al numbing some kind of trauma. I’m still not sure what my moms trauma is. As far as I know, she had none in childhood. It wasn’t till she was 18 & pregnant with me that she went through some trauma. She had both her parents & they were both very involved in her life. Something I never got & harbor more resentment towards her because she never gave me the same. She was in abusive relationships until she was 24 & then married an amazing man that became my father. But he worked his ass off to provide for us. A lot of hours & traveling, so the major household/child responsibilities fell on me. I had my own issues with substances but chose my children over anything.

I am the mom of 2 beautiful children and the wife of an alcoholic and daughter of one too. As a child, I remember the feelings, the anger, the frustration. Childhood robbed in certain ways. My father is now sober but is a dry alcoholic. His mindset is horrible. Never got any psychiatric help. My husband is in the military, heavy drinker since the age of 16/17 yrs old. He is 37 now. Been with him for 12years. He refuses to stop drinking and protects his drink at all cost. I'm very sad for him, for myself and mostly our children.
Walking away I guess is the only option. So much praying and hoping can help me right....or him.
It is a very hard one to accept. I love him. He loves his daily 750ml more than life itself...💔

He told me that he wanted to break that cycle, because he knew what pain felt like. Adrian, in general, reminds me a lot of my dad, who I really miss a lot. He passed away from liver cirrhosis in December, because of alcoholism. That is a sad yet lovely comment Gabby. These videos do really help, especially for those of us who face our own demons even if we are otherwise functioning 'normally'. About 10 years ago my friend's mum died because of alcohol. She saw it coming, the doctors had warned her mum, but it hurt like hell none the less. A tiny woman drinking a litre of vodka a day and not eating, her mum had become quite reclusive, possibly to avoid being lectured. It made me think maybe we can help by doing something as simple as gifting a pot of soup (something easy to heat and eat) and just being there for a chat without raising the issue. I'm sorry for the loss of your dad, it must have been heartbreaking to go through that. Hopefully we can learn what we can do better from our experiences.

I have a father who’s a functioning alcoholic, literally drinks everyday, and smokes cigarettes. Growing up I vowed not to be like him in terms of the above mentioned habits. But now I find myself as an unemployed qualified nurse with an honors degree, sitting at home and going through about 1 and a half bottles of wine almost everyday, I also started smoking cigarettes. This last month I’ve been having minor bouts of insomnia where all I wanna do is smoke and drink to escape my thoughts of feeling useless from being unemployed. I don’t know if I have a problem, I don’t think I do.
I don’t mean to make this about me but what these videos have done is not only enlighten my view of the deep issues that we have brewing as a society that are being blanketed by social media and the glitz and glamour that the mainstream is selling us when there’s our fellow man out in the streets suffering. These videos have also made me reflect on my own situation and I desire not to find myself in their position. My point? All these people featured on your videos are shining a bright light on those of us who watch, they are educating us, inspiring us, helping us be more sympathy and enlightening us. Hey Adrian, hopefully you see this. You do deserve a loving and peaceful life. You are worth it. I understand I am also an addict. We all relate in all aspects of alcoholism. I hope you find the big book and read it again, again and again. I know it's hard very hard but I pray you find peace.

Crazy that you posted this today...My little brother (who's also named Adrian and is half Mexican) got arrested this morning, just after getting off house arrest a few weeks ago for a previous crime he committed...He's only 24, heavily addicted to cocaine and alcohol and I just found out yesterday he's moved onto meth now...He's been diagnosed with depression, borderline personality disorder and in the last few months, the drug induced psychosis began...
I am really hoping that he doesn't get granted bail, as I feel like it's his only chance of getting sober...If they end up releasing him, it's only a matter of time before he either kills himself, or someone else....This past year alone, he's been arrested 3 times, had 5 suicide attempts and came very close to dying each time....There must be a reason why he's still alive...a purpose...he just doesn't see it, because he's already given up on himself and even though I want him to change with ever fibre of my being, I can't make him, he has to want it himself...
Adrian in the video still has a chance at sobriety, because he genuinely wants it...There's still hope for him.

Thank you for this. My father was an alcoholic and my brother is an alcoholic. He's spiraling out of control and I'm not sure when or if he'll hit his rock bottom. My prayer is that he's able to course correct because he can do better -- but the alcohol, fueled by anger, poor life and career choices and spiraling out of control debt, plus being a habitual liar is just too much. My mother and sister have been enabling him for years - to no improvement... And I think this time (he was just arrested this morning) they see that they can't continue to enable his behavior. All we can do is pray he's remorseful for his behavior and seeks help. We're here - but not how we used to be... because as any interventionalist will say, we have to draw the line -- otherwise he'll always have us as a cushion. These stories are deep, and you never know what anyone is going through personally -- whether it's they themselves, or their family. These stories tell me to give folks grace -- because we all need it.

"People who hurt other people are weak people not strong "
I wish they would know that I think them understanding that would be their first step to recovery .
