Holy blast from the past! I used to run one of these powering two Aura 1808's in the back of a Stratus back in the early 00's. Local dB Drag comp clocked it at 139.6 back then, so it wasn't too bad for what little was apparently going into them. It was just a dumb, but fun setup. I eventually shifted gears to more outdoor adventures, so the whole system eventually made it's way into more dedicated hands.
I remember a guy years ago with those Auras who was a big presence on the old car audio forums. Had them in like an infinite baffle style mount. Always thought that looked like a cool set up.
@@fattytca1 yeah those were pretty cool. been thinking of buying some of the neo radials and doing something with them. currently fixing some broke 3hp neos.
Totally forgot about the second channel big D! Thanks for posting this retro footage. There's a reason tripath topology faded away although there are a few manufacturers that still sell products with similar circuity. As far as I know they're all lumped together as class D these days. In it's time though it was a pretty radical departure from the industry standard A/B and the relatively crude D.
It's cool seeing how you recorded the videos then versus how you do now I have a US amps Bass Mekanik PT-1100 .. I've had it for some time now looks very similar to my JP 23 good video though
Old school US Amps where the bomb. I had 4 Orion XTR 12s in my Blazer back in say 1005 or so on a VLX-200 and it was crazy loud. Poor USA-100 on my fronts was no match to keep up but I didn't care. Crank some DJ Magic Mike. Fuun times,
Derek, I have a old Pioneer GM-X434 that I have owned since brand new. By far one of my favorite 4 channel amps. It is in need of repair and I have never seen one on the channel. I know you have people who fix amps. Sadly noone anywhere near me does.
I had a la sound Catalina classic running mono in my dodge Daytona to 2 -10 inch subs in a bandpass firing back at the hatch. Had 0 gauge wire back in the day. Had Kenwood excelon deck with no speaker outputs. Only had RCA outputs, top of the line deck. Along with a kenwood parametric EQ, excelon components, and tried many amplifiers and many subwoofers brand's.
Seems fairly efficient. But, don't know a lot about Class T topology. Lots of respect for US Amps products from back in the day though. Very solid. Interesting dyno and review.
I worked at a shop in Kentucky when those came out. Remember them well. I would love see some dyno on some amps I used back in the day on a budget like la sounds Malibu, Sherwood 440q and 240q, urban audio works, audio gods, and of course some pyramid amps. Anyway keep up the good work.
very cool. there were a couple companies that came out with tripath car amps. i had a blaupunkt one. a local supermarket had a pretty cool little electronics section and carried them along with stuff like the intel slotket adapters or cyrix 333mhz chips. i really liked it dont remember what ever happened with it but it seemed alright. i still run tripath amps at home
@@wal2 I thought tripath, was the company. Not some new wave. Basically a trademark. Not unlike "class d". Theres also a reason, you don't seem that used anymore, well unless you buy a tripath for 11 dollars online.

Cool amp back In the day. Was wondering if you ever got your hands on to test US acoustics amps? Like the USX 4065? I rocked one back in the early 2000s and still have it to this day. Was a very clean amp for price
It did more than rated power, which is typical old school quality amplifier. However I was a little shocked it fell flat on the 40Hz dynamic tests VS the higher certified and uncertified tests.
