I had this dilemma since i already had ally and gaming laptop turns out you can buy a dock, portable monitor, your own keyboard and mouse of choosing and turn it into a pseudo laptop replacement
Ngl after getting an Rog Ally X I’d say there’s no need for handhelds. It’s amazing but you should get a high powered laptop that’s 2x more powerful than Rog Ally X and bring a controller with you. Better than bringing a mouse, keyboard, controller, dock, cables. I bought the Rog because I’m stupid and forgot laptops existed and were gameable.
lmao all moveable items that is 5 to 15lbs are portable. you are using the word moveable on laptop wrong because moveable covers wide area of things. like cars, fridge, washer, chair and tables are all moveable even trucks and broken buildings are moveable with machines and tools. portables are meant for things that a single person could bring on his her travel or commute without too much burden or causing injury. you are talking about laptops are moveable as if theyre 200lbs. if laptop is heavy to you you should go to gym and work out.
people use laptops to game on plane just like others using switch or pc handhelds on the plane. theyre both portable its just a matter of how you would deal with the bigger size and difference in weight. theres alot of people who loves to bring laptop anywhere and game on it. just because its heavy to you means its moveable like a fridge. before pc handhelds was invented laptops are go to on portable gaming.
@@Rr-j4x u can't use laptop while laying on a bed or comfortably laying on your couch or bean bag. Handheld is comfortable gaming while laptop is just a poor mans pc
This whole thing assumes that all you are doing is playing games, and you play with a controller. If you need to do school or work or you want to play with mouse and keyboard, get a laptop.
No joke this is literally my current dilemma (kinda) I bought a Lenovo legion go for 480 on OfferUp Then saw a Lenovo loq 3050 open box and clearance at Best Buy for 415 2 days later I currently have both but don’t know which one to keep
@@alfredtorres1252 I would make a list of the things you want to be able to do with these devices on the go and then evaluate how each one of those devices would meet those needs if you want to do a lot more things like work editing just more standard computer tasks maybe having the laptop might be better but if all you want is a soul gaming device in a smaller more portable form factor then I’d go for the legion go and if you don’t see yourself playing with the device outside the house or even in a car anything like that a laptop might make more sense. It’ll offer you more performance larger screen and if you’re not leaving the house, the weight doesn’t really matter and the size doesn’t really matter the gaming laptop will also probably have better battery life so if you do find yourself playing on the go
i just went through this. Bought an ROG Ally for 400 flat from offer up. Wound up just buying the LOQ 4060 for 800 brand new at best buy and wound up selling the Ally. The Ally never came off the dock for me so it was more like a PC. I just preferred the laptop. Way stronger.

A laptop isn't portable it's moveable, a handheld is a completely different use case and therefore not replaceable by a laptop.

if you want to play only while sitting on your gaming chair then yeah buy laptop.
if you want to play anywhere posible then handheld is better
gaming handheld hits diff. Love handhelds. Also charger sizes are a thing to consider. They're big and heavy for gaming laptops.

I play mouse and keyboard on my asus rog ally, docked to my tv

Compare it to a laptop thats similarly priced though
That's why I think a better option is sth like Lenovo legion go or Minisforum V3 or One XPlayer x1 that serves as a laptop, tablet and a handheld
