Then went on their website which literally says that "most customers that get this error message elect to simply replace their printer" (or something very much along those lines). I've had the printer less than two years!! Will never buy another one of their products with their intentional obsolescence. But I definitely appreciate this service you're providing!! Best video i’ve found for re-setting WIC on Mac OS. Crystal clear explanation (and NOTHING superfluous or rambling). Well done! Wish they were all like this. Gives option for a trial run to check compatibility . Have set my Epson back to 80% which has reactovated my printer. Will be purchasing a key with confidence to get it back to 100%.
we use an Epson Eco tank for printing labels, so we've maxed out the counter and the ink pads were full, so it was a relief to be able to clean the pads, and reset the counter and be back printing for less than £8 for the reset key. Thanks

Great video. I've opted to wash and air dry my existing pads to save a bit of cash. Once they are dry I will replace them and get started on resetting the counter. But your tutorial fills me with confidence. Thanks

Always a good idea to test with the trail code if you're not sure... Don't forget to replace the pads or fit an external waste tank in the future though... Never fun to get the ink puddle when things overflow...

The photo 1400 is harder to replace the pads whereas the external Printer Potty is simpler and much longer term. The Solo+ kit & key bundle has everything you need including a full key to allow to to do a full reset when the waste counter hits full again.
I am on a Mac laptop and have connected the printer via USB, the software recognizes the Waste cartridge but when I go to reset I keep getting the errors "Communication error between network client and data server. Some protection software may block your network connection." How do I resolve these messages? I could understand if I was connected via internet but I am not. Any suggestions?
Few things can cause this. 1. The WICReset server itself is/was down. 2. Your router is blocking the relevant port There’s an FAQ article with the ports needed on support.printerpotty.com

Can I check which printer model you have and also which version of MacOS you have? Also any other details that might help explore what's going would be useful too. (As an aside it'd be easier to tackle this directly via our support email address but I'll happily report back on here for reference as/when we get any clues.
Given that you likely just changed the pads too it’s likely some ink has leaked from the carts, particularly if you turned the printer on its side or back. It should subside with time but you may want to mop up any excess in the capping station (area the printhead rests on).
Hi there, I bought the reset key for my Epson XP540 (thank you - very quick to arrive!) However, after opening it on my MacBook Pro Operating system Monterrey V12, it is unable to find my printer. Every time I switch on the printer, I get the E-11 "The ink pad needs service - contact Epson" message. Well there is no Epson service in Spain! Any ideas what I can do? Thank you

I did a reset using TRIAL which worked as you said. However, I then purchased a key, tried a full reset and nothing happened. I am still at 80%. Any ideas?
Power off the printer anyway just to be safe. Check the key status and read the waste counter. If you’re lucky it still worked. If you’re not, you’ll need to purchase a new key.
I downloaded the key but it says when I click on open that 'app cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified", it also says macOS cannot verify that this app is free from Malware". I'd appreciate your help on this

The keys are more akin to a “credit” so any printer that is compatible with the WICReset app will work with any key. You can purchase keys at: Https://www.octoink.co.uk/keys If you have a specific printer model please let me know and I can confirm.
Worth trying the following: - Reboot the computer and printer then try accessing the iWIC tool without opening any other apps. - Change the USB cable and/or port (on your computer). If all else fails try reinstalling the printer driver and/or use a different computer if you can access one. Just as an aside, what version of MacOS do you have?
Hmm... as Ventura is fairly new I'd probably put this down to the usual joys of new OS, new bugs. Is the OS even recognising that the printer exists (even if it won't print due to the waste counter)? I'd genuinely be looking to borrow/use someone elses older machine to do the reset rather than pull your hair out for years (it may feel that long even if it's not reality). Just a thought.

Can you provide a screenshot of the error and details about your computers operating system as that'll help provide a bit more context. Email to support@octoink.co.uk is probably a better way to follow up on this.
There seems to have been a driver/system update that blocked resetting over WIFI so try using a USB connection to complete the reset and that should work.
The ET-2720 is compatible with the WICReset as it has a waste ink counter, so yes it does work with that model. Remember that you do need to change out the pads or fit an external waste ink tank to avoid the existing pads overflowing though.
It should identify and correct to the specified printer but for safety it’s best to turn off all other printers while you reset the target waste counter.
Best thing I can suggest is try the iWIC macOS utility with the read waste counter function to see if your M1 mac will work. If not let me know what errors you hit and I’ll pass the info on to the developers.

That’s useful info in itself. Possibly a security issue or limitation in either the OS, the driver or the app. I’m leaning towards the driver but at least you’ve found a workaround. So thanks for sharing.
The ET-7750 has a user replaceable maintenance box which is basically a waste pad holder with a chip. As such it doesn’t have a normal waste pad counter to reset. That said there is a platen pad and waste counter for that. The WICReset app “may” reset that (I can’t check right now) but if it does it doesn’t require a key.
The XP-7100 is supported for read/reset waste ink counters as well as some other diagnostic and basic functionality so I'm not sure why you think it isn't. If you've had a specific issue with your printer please contact us via support@octoink.co.uk so we can troubleshoot the problem and see if we can get it fixed.
THIS SOFTWARE DOESNT WORK WELL!!! Software hung up on first use. And the issue was not resolved. On second attempt it says key was already used, customer service is not available. I am a teacher and I have a huge problem now. This sets me back hours!!!! Total Scam!!!

If you’re washing the old pads, make sure you don’t squeeze them at all as that felts the pads further and reduces their absorbency capacity.

Sometimes the printer will run a priming routine as if it was a brand new printer so that’s well within norms.

Hi, Do I need to reset my L3050 after I change the ink waste pad?
If you changed the pads then yes it’s a good idea to reset waste counter so the pad and counter are synced.

How to fix the I/O problem? Can't the detect the printer. I've restarted the printer several times. Thanks.
Worth trying the following:
- Reboot the computer and printer then try accessing the iWIC tool without opening any other apps.
- Change the USB cable and/or port (on your computer).
If all else fails try reinstalling the printer driver and/or use a different computer if you can access one.
Just as an aside, what version of MacOS do you have?

Hmm... as Ventura is fairly new I'd probably put this down to the usual joys of new OS, new bugs. Is the OS even recognising that the printer exists (even if it won't print due to the waste counter)?
I'd genuinely be looking to borrow/use someone elses older machine to do the reset rather than pull your hair out for years (it may feel that long even if it's not reality). Just a thought.

What if it says query rejected ?
There seems to have been a driver/system update that blocked resetting over WIFI so try using a USB connection to complete the reset and that should work.
This works on an ET-2720?
The ET-2720 is compatible with the WICReset as it has a waste ink counter, so yes it does work with that model.
Remember that you do need to change out the pads or fit an external waste ink tank to avoid the existing pads overflowing though.

Assuming you're asking, yes the ET-2400 is compatible with the WICReset app and the waste ink counter can be reset.
What happens when system has more than one printer
It should identify and correct to the specified printer but for safety it’s best to turn off all other printers while you reset the target waste counter.

Is there a reset app that works with an M1 based Mac Mini?
Best thing I can suggest is try the iWIC macOS utility with the read waste counter function to see if your M1 mac will work. If not let me know what errors you hit and I’ll pass the info on to the developers.
@@octoinkjet Thanks for the reply and offer. Turns out that I was able to get it working when I connected via USB not not via WiFi. Not sure why but I guess it really doesn't matter.
That’s useful info in itself. Possibly a security issue or limitation in either the OS, the driver or the app. I’m leaning towards the driver but at least you’ve found a workaround. So thanks for sharing.
Will this work for et-7750
The ET-7750 has a user replaceable maintenance box which is basically a waste pad holder with a chip. As such it doesn’t have a normal waste pad counter to reset.
That said there is a platen pad and waste counter for that. The WICReset app “may” reset that (I can’t check right now) but if it does it doesn’t require a key.

What specific error? If query rejected you need to use a USB cable.
epson XP 7100 is not supported
The XP-7100 is supported for read/reset waste ink counters as well as some other diagnostic and basic functionality so I'm not sure why you think it isn't.

@@octoinkjet my apologize. EPSON XP 7100 is not supported for the Mac OS version.
Luckily I have a Mac Mini and an XP-7100 to hand so I'll check this out and get back to you when I have a few minutes spare.
THIS SOFTWARE DOESNT WORK WELL!!! Software hung up on first use. And the issue was not resolved. On second attempt it says key was already used, customer service is not available. I am a teacher and I have a huge problem now. This sets me back hours!!!! Total Scam!!!

@@octoinkjet Thank you for your imidate response. I was able to reach customer service and they sent me through the loop, but now it is working phweee!!! However I find 10$ for each reset quite step. But still better than sending in to Epson...
Glad you were able to get this resolve with whoever sold you that key.
As to the cost, I understand the sentiment, we're actually a little cheaper but like you said it's better than sending it to Epson... and compared to a new printer... well, yes..
