do you think the stain on the glue side of the knobs diminish the bond and will eventually lead to a glue failure? I've seen the same thing done in other ww project videos where a stain is applied and then NOT sanded off of the glue face before gluing the project together. seems to me like that will diminish the bond and it's best to have a bare wood to bare wood glue joint.

I figure if they do fail I will just re attach with a screw. You are right if I used wood glue but the cyanoacrylate glue is pretty strong.
