Is it wrong to take a moment to pop your favorite popcorn and grab a beverage to watch one of your fave VLOGS and the amazing work they do not only renovating a Chateau BUT protecting animals? It really is the best in reality entertainment, right? Merci Amanda et Lincoln!
I got myself a cocktail! I nearly spit it out when Amanda was talking about Lincoln’s brain. I have had pudding brain before. A good putting that your kids suggested would be a good way to get rid of pudding brain. Not cool to hunt where you are not wanted. That would be called poaching at worst and trespassing at best! 🤦🏻♀️ My husband is a hunter. There are rules and regulations that true huntsman follow. The rest that don’t follow the rules are just plain idiots. Scary that you guys are afraid on your own property. Yikes! Praying it gets better.
Thanks :) Yes! Most of the hunters are very respectful...
I just wish they were longer.
I would definitely be scared going outside while there are hunters roaming my property. Thank you for providing a safe place for the animals and for sharing.
Glad you had a wonderful time away from the chateau. It looked beautiful. Please stay safe during hunting season and I hope the signs deter some people.
Taking a break is extremely important. Thank you for sharing.
Kudos to the girls for recognizing early onset pudding brain in their parents and recommending a night out from the chateau!! Thank you for another brilliant vlog providing insight into your life in France as you renovate your beautiful chateau. Favorite scene... panning to the cows lined up along the hedge while putting up the no hunting signs.🤭😁
So glad to hear you went out for the evening. It’s good to have a reminder of why you moved to Brittany. You need food for the soul. I’m so sorry terribly sorry about hunters! I would be simply terrified! I detest blood sport in all forms! You must be so frightened for your animals, pets and your wildlife who have come to expect safe haven on YOUR LAND.
I have no idea if French hunters are respectful of land boundaries, they certainly are not in most of the US, if they can get away with it. Having lost a dog to a hunter, please take care. I’ll be thinking of you and do take a break now and then, just for the spirits ♥️
I'm terribly sorry about your dog, must've been very traumatic. We had an incident last year that frightened me so just trying to feel safer 😑
@@OurFrenchChateau , thank you so much! We love our fur babies, that’s for sure! I’d put those signs everywhere . I’m retired on the Georgia coast. Lots of beer drinking, lots on places to hunt. We have wild boar and deer, so I hate it when I hear shots. Good luck, take care of your nerves 😬
I feel your anxiety over the concern of hunters on your property. We have the same problem during hunting season and most people post no hunting signs on their property but as you said there are rogue hunters who don’t respect the signs. I used to worry about my kids when they were young and now my grandchildren. Stay safe. xx
I’m really appreciating your funky breaks Amanda and dry humor mixed with civilized dignity☺️Jenny from the Wild West Coast of Canada
I'm glad you got out for dinner. What a beautiful place. Things are coming along beautifully. I don't hunt or allow others to hunt on my property. There is a lot of hunting where I live. Take care. ♥️
Thank you for the update on the Chateau and things that have been going on. It is looking great. Sometimes you both need a break on things you do. I am glad that your young ladies said to go out to the beach. Love and Blessings to you all. Doris 🇦🇺🦘
Thanks Doris!
Hey Amanda and Lincoln, it was wonderful that your children convinced you to take some time off, a little R&R + fun does a body and mind good. Thank you for posting the no hunting signs I hope they respect your wishes. Love from N.Y.
Just a suggestion for you to consider, that I heard, about on Doing it Ourselves vlog. This was one called Front Door. (13:30) The fellow says their family uses something called polyester putty on the porous rotted wood that's been exposed to rain. Apparently, this putty is used on body work on cars. It mixes with peroxide, according to Michael. Just in case it helps you with those window frames!
I am glad the kids made you both get out of the house...You deserve it...Lovely View! Good Wine!!
Us too!
Great aim there Lincoln! Whenever I have to take out others work I’m just confused with what were they thinking ! Pudding brain is helped with a long weekend away doing nothing . Maybe a spa visit, a good massage , the night out you took. You have smart kids.
The view outside the bedroom window is just heavenly!
What a awesome couple plus Team work!!! You both have done such a beautiful job on your stunning paradise your making. Thank you for sharing your life and journey with us.
Hi Amanda and Lincoln, love your channel. Just a heads up, I’ve seen other chateau owners, spray all their woodwork for dry rot, as a prevention, prior to doing any kind of work. Hope you don’t mind me raising this. I understand it’s also to ensure, when they bring in any furniture, it isn’t eaten by the little beasties. 😬 Good luck with winterising your beautiful home. Pauline, Sheffield UK
Yes, we treat everything :)
If I was younger I will repair thing to let to my kids and generations ready, but because I am old I just looking at vlogs video’s people with chateaus. Love to watch what happened how they fixed. It’s a journal really a journal!
Can’t believe people would trespass and hunt on your property. Hope they are more respectful this year. Keep up the good work at the chateau. There will be days when everything goes wrong but then there will be days when things go right. Love your sense of humor so hopefully that will get thru the tough parts. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
You guys are awesome, I like your color choices. You do so well, I guess on top of all the work you do around the place you still got the kids to care for a cooking, all the washing and stuff, and editing and now on top of that you have rough hunters.
You both do so well.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much 😁 Ah yes, so much to do around the chateau!
Interesting to see what you guys have to deal with living in a château… no hunting …
not something you would think would be an issue.. but hey , it’s so fascinating for us to see this lifestyle ! Love your videos !
Lincoln's mathematical mind calculated that hole over the bucket very well - most of the mess hit it's mark! 😉 I have pudding brain and I basically do nothing all day. 🤣 You certainly have your hands full but you both are doing a great job!
😂
Once you mentioned pudding brain I knew you were relatable!! Subscribed.
🤪 Thanks!
Love Saint Malo! We are just in Dinard with family… sadly returning to Australia today.. keep livening my dream! Xx michelle
Just discovered your channel and watched all your videos I love what you both are doing with the chateau wow what amazing work you both are doing love hearing all about the animals you have and seeing the love you have for them all Carnot wait for more videos to follow take care 🥰
Thanks and welcome
Thank you for your video’s. I love watching you two you have a great sense of humour. I also appreciate that you don’t have your children on because it’s about you two or beg for money and like animals. You are both very talented. Please keep your video’s coming I really enjoy them .🙏
I really enjoy your videos Amanda and Lincoln ... thanks for showing us the view out the window for a few moments there before your improvements to the window finish ... I thought you might break into the ladder reveal music every time that appealing ladder came into view in the guest room. That was a lol moment a couple of weeks back. All very interesting for those interested in doing the same thing in a chateau in the French countryside.
🤣
Lincoln is methodical in what he does, very neat and always has a safe workplace. Amanda when you said that Lincoln is a numbers man? Is his background accounting? scientists and/or a mathematical genius? Either way he is Da Man!! Love watching, be safe and take care 👍🙏🇫🇷💃
I was hoping you would paper the guest room. Nothing but Net! Go Lincoln!
You two are zealous in your adventure but you need a long vacation and away from the doldrums of problems. God bless you both.
Love the jazzy music!
great balance of story time, DIY content and beautiful images :)
Also, sorry for the hunters, that sucks
Enjoyed it, thank you.
Beautiful place♡ excited to see your kitchen area♡
I hope the signs work and everyone stays safe.
Good bucket aim there. Nice vlog. Interesting.🤗
I just discovered your Chanel. Good music choices always. Hello from Louisiana ❤
Hi! Thank you :)
I so enjoy your dry humour! Keep it up!

You are a natural storyteller.
🙂
Regarding painting the insides of cabinets and closets, it's easier and faster if you take the shelves out and paint them separately.
Try to remember “don’t put off til tomorrow what you can do today” my husbands favorite sayin. Never worked for me but might for you.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, it just another day away. That’s my favorite saying!
I suggest a small vaca for pudding brain!
Lovely you had an evening out a break well deserved !
totally agree with you about hunting I abhor it - here in the uk we have fox hunting which is supposed to be banned but they always find a loop hole I hope they respected your signs
Watching from Australia…enjoying your blogs very much ❤
Gosh the hunting issue is scarey. I am in Australia and we have to have a special licence to even own a gun here, no way would it be allowed that someone would go around shooting anything when people are nearby.....we really don't hunt anything much in Australia, a few wild pigs and kangaroos but you need a permit and have a quota in the number. Hunting is more to keep the numbers down rather than for eating. Love these forums, you can learn so much about how countries function. Thank you and I hope you are safe.
They’re very strict in France regarding gun licenses. People usually eat what they hunt. Wild boar can be devastating to crops so they hunt to keep numbers down.
Those cows were so cute all standing there staring.
thank you for not letting them hunt, as a vegan and animal lover i do not understand killing for the fun of it
Thanks, I like the video! Missed the donkeys!!!! The guest room is looking good....I keep wondering about the other walls without the big new panels....have you shown them and I just missed it?????? I would want no hunting posted too. Please video more. Love your humor!! You make me smile!!!!!!!
We did show the blank wall in a previous video…
Lincoln = a beautiful mind ❤
If the toilet is "really gross" does the mean it is very black inside the bowl and especially down in the depths of the bowl? I have the same problem to a minor extant because the water system of the district i live in in the US is chronically undersupplied by the existing wells and needs to bring trucked in water. It was originally planned for summer cottages but over the years became mostly permanent residents with at least twice the houses it had when i moved here 35 years ago. We tend to be under exterior use water bans. I just don't flush the toilet (except for solids) and once or twice a day flush for the urine waste. But that practice allows calcium buildup and sometimes blackening as well. The black is probably due to the fact that water mains develop an anaerobic bacterial lining that actually helps to reduce friction in the mains. It is supposed to occur. Just brushing it will usually removes the black. It isn't harmful but doesn't look good. The calcium buildup (a common mineral in urine) is very easy to remove with a weak solution of muriatic acid and one of those green fibrous scouring pads. Don't use steel wool or you will scratch the enamel glaze of the bowl. A month or so ago I did both of mine and they looked like new.
You can feel the calcium deposit while scouring with the pad. The surface is rough. As it is removed you can feel the difference as the pad wipes with less to no friction. I used maybe a cap full of acid to the normal water level of the bowl and let it sit for a few minutes. Wear gloves. Every few years I go at them like this other than with the normal cleaner and scrub brush. .
Pour acid into water. Never pour water into acid or you will get splattering and you can get burned. Don't smell the bottle and you will see fumes when you open it. It's very strong hydrochloric acid. I have a septic system but the acid was weak enough - flush several times to dilute it even more when you finish - so as not to damage the bacteria in the septic tank.
I love your narration. It reminds me of a book my mother used to like "the Egg and I". Can't remember the author. She was very popular in the 40s and 50s. She was the same writer who invented Ma and Pa Kettle.
Pudding brain...I love it!!
I think I would add camera's around my property that alert me when someone has bridged my property, especially hunters.
I was just talking about mush brain with some friends. It means for me that I need to stop, or go slower for a while. I’m getting old so I have more of those moments now but when you’re tired from all of the lists you have in your head of things you need and want to do just sometimes you need to sit down and relax and just be.
Love your videos
Status=still loving you. You’re hysterical! 😂
Have you considered having a meeting with the hunters as I’m sure they probably belong to a club/group and maybe allocate a piece of land for them. These hunters have probably done this for years before you arrived. Deer an Wild Boar can damage land and these hunters keep the numbers down. It’s good to be diplomatic in these matters. The more friends you have in rural areas the better
Mmm pudding, that sounds good! Cheers Kirk
🤪
Most land owners in our area put up signs about every 20 to 40 feet.
Do you have wild boars? Glad you put up the signs!
There are wild boars and controlled hunting is done to keep the numbers down.
Wild boar are in the area, but haven't seen them here. Deer, hare and birds are most commonly hunted around here.
Maybe having a set date and time for hunting will allow the group to hunt and thin the herds safetly
Maybe along road for signs?
Had a hunter infestation on my 100-acre property in Ontario (Canada). Found a buck - with its head removed for the antlers - they left the carcass instead of taking it for meat. I cried for days. I put up metal signs on the road bordering the property - over time they were used as target practice. There are good hunters (believe it or not) and then there are just murderers who will shoot at anything. Guns here are not as big a problem as in the US but it’s sad it’s still a problem. Thanks for the stunning pics of Saint Malo.
Oh my gosh, that’s incredibly sad and horrible.
You need to takeout window by window and sand with machine sand, then paint with the right way.
Well done on the No hunting rule
😍You guys are doing a great job!! 💖
Are you concerned with asbestos at all? We have a home in Switzerland (built in the seventies) and asbestos was mixed into the glue for the bathroom tiles which had to be professionally removed.
Thanks! Fortunately we don’t have any :) I know it can be such a hassle. And ⚠️ dangerous
@@OurFrenchChateau 🥰Oh, I’m glad to hear that!!💕
Pudding brain…. I can relate. 😂
NICE JOB
Thanks!
One would be scared to open up a wall or ceiling because one never knows what lurks behind! It seems like an awfull mess and loads of work! And those old beams look dreadful! Is there n local page on FB or a local municipal magazine where you can put a notice in that the hunt is forbidden on your property?
The hunting club is aware, this is just for random hunters…
Scarlet “I’ll think about that tomorrow”
how long until your signs get shot at?
No point in working yourselves to death and never enjoy the beauty that is France. Smart children, good parents. After my husband and I both lost our first spouses to death we said we’d change, then we got back into the working and living and forgot our resolutions. Had to stop and remind ourselves to live, rest, and enjoy the moments we were in.
Never thought of you having to keep hunters off your land. Yikes. I come from hunting family (for food), but poachers are totally verboten where I come from in Montana. I pray they will honor your signs. So glad the mayor gave you a safer option.
Success with your latest projects.
You're so right - sometimes we need to enjoy our surroundings!
What does the sign say?
No hunting 🦌
Do guys speak French? If so did you already speak it or did you learn it when you moved?
Our French is pretty bad, but improving. Our kids detest acting as our translators 🤪
Thanx for your response. I understand, I immigrated when was 8 years old and learned English very quickly, I had to translate for my family and their friends constantly and I hated it!!! Would love to move to France but the Language would be a problem, I think 🤔. Sending love!!,
You were turning into pudding brain in the middle of you explanation. 😆
👍👏👏
Must be terrible having to endure the hunting season, I’d be petrified that bullets would come on to my property. Such an inhumane thing todo.
We call it brain fog. It would be nice if you had longer or more vlogs I enjoy them.
Oh my goodness you lovely people, this is how we all feel in September. I loathe the chasse. When we moved to France (15years ago) the first winter we were here, our property was surrounded on all sides by drunken hunters, with their guns cocked. Their dogs chased our hens away, never to be seen again. Only when the gendarmes came did they disperse. It was traumatic. Now they know to stay away., but I still struggle with the mentality. All that said, isn’t our life in France fabulous? .
Oh what a terrible experience for you! I think most people who live in the French countryside loathe hunting season. But it’s still a fabulous place to call home :)
You were smart to move out of San Francisco because it is unsafe. I hope the signs work
Pudding brain. 😂😂😂
OF COURSE ITS EXHAUSTING. You're trying to do it all yourselves.
😉😉
You left the states to not be fired upon? WTH?
I also suffer from 'pudding brain' from time to time. My answer is to make custard
🤣
No such thing as boring days
Thanks for being no hunting.
I do hope your “no hunting” works.
Enough with guns, at least it game they are aiming for and not with assault rifles.
Take your time to “smell the roses” and enjoy the beauty around you. 😄
Your property is beautiful-and yes I’d be worried about hunters crossing through. Hope your signs worked..
Why don’t you offer permits for hunters as an income source?? Sounds like you have a willing group! Certain dates could be stipulated!
I think if I had to deal with that pink toilet, I'd put a huge plastic bag over it so I didn't have to look at it.
As a Frenchman myself, I can assure you they are very careful when hunting wild boar or whatever elese is known to be in the area. They will not shoot at you or your pets, they are not just some wild rampaging psychopaths with rifles.
We realize that the majority of hunters are very responsible. We had a close call last season as a hunter came onto one of our fields and fired near our donkeys.
That doesn't mean they should be on someone else's property.
@@OurFrenchChateau ...That definitely was not good.
@@kimberlyearly8918 In France, hunters have the right to roam on private land to hunt unless the land is registered as a no-hunting zone at the local Fédération des Chasseurs (droit de non-chasse). All these hunting laws have their origins in the French Revolution, which allowed everyone the right to hunt. Before, only nobility could...
@@francoisb.4453 That's crazy!
It is kind of funny when cityfolk move to the country, especially European countryside and decided they should impose city rules on the otherwise long time traditions of hunting, trapshooting and the like. I understand not wanting to hear the guns go off, but I would suggest a very measured approach to changing centuries old tradition and culture.
For us it was a safety issue - close calls on our property. There are laws that hunters cannot come on your property with children or animals. It's not a nice feeling having to worry about being shot while walking in your forest...
Dear Maggie, as a French, I must say that Amanda and Lincoln are right on that matter. Of course, there are hunters everywhere, and in every country, but there are rules and laws to follow. You are right when you say that we must respect traditions, but the problem here is not the tradition, but people who don't respect the rules 🙂
The signs are a terrible design they look more like an invitation, as in "Target!"
Love your vlog but the music was a hard pass for me this time.
Your fine. Go easy on yourself. I don’t like hunters! If they do it with the camera, that’s fine.
Equating hunting with the horrible gun violence in the US is insulting to the long tradition of hunters who harvest wild boar and deer whose populations would otherwise overrun and destroy your chateau grounds and other properties. Poachers should be prosecuted as any trespasser.
We had an incident of a trespasser last season - hence my "joke" about being shot. It was very frightening. We understand the need to control populations of certain animals who destroy crops, but we have chosen not to allow hunting on our property...
Do you have pudding brain,, a Spa Day will help fix that. 😃
Stay safe those hunters get everywhere
Pᵣₒmₒˢᵐ 😇
Geeze to have to worry about those stupid hunters. Awful. You guys should put up fake cardboard deer with guns in there hands. Pointed at hunters.
All that reno can drive you mad. Take breaks when it gets too much. At least the bulk of the château is done. Hang in there and keep those nasty hunters out. Stay safe.
