By far my favorite lens on the M system. I also have the Distagon 35mm f1.4 ZM which is the better lens optical wise but the Voigtlander is just more fun to use. It‘s sharp enough, especially in the center, the bokeh is gorgeous when used correctly, stopped down it‘s an amazing street photography lens. The handling is so nice because of it‘s size, weight and focus tab. So, don‘t waste your money on the Summilux pre-asph, that glass is just overpriced. The Voigtlander is just the perfect combination of image value and price.
I think you are correct in your description. Definitely a fun, compact, well made and great optical quality lens for just about everything. I have since picked up a Leica 35mm Summicron f/2 ASPH II which I'm currently putting through its paces. I want to do a first impressions video of it once I have time to go out and shoot.
Great walk around and travel camera. I can take my Leica MP into many places they would make DSLR owners pack up. I tend to favor the wider side of things and went with the Voigtlander 28/f2 as my daily carry. Enjoy the M!
I no longer own this camera, end it up selling it to fund a Monochrom Typ 246. Basically same camera, feel, just with a B&W sensor. I love the M system. Cheers.
Sweet, how did you like it? I hope to own a film Leica someday, the thing is I don’t shoot film too often. I have a cheap Pentax K1000 that scratches my itch whenever I feel like shooting film.
@@90sPunkRockCovers It is great! my version I had the single coat version witch was a little less punchy. I would however only recommend the mc version as the one I have flairs almost all the time without a hood. I actually recently picked up a black paint mp-240 so I will get to try it on that! I hope it arrives this week!
absolutely love the color on your videos. is there a out you use or can you share what your camera settings are? Awesome work on the vids as well. Thanks!!
@@90sPunkRockCovers Does the glow at f1.4 happen only at a certain distance or it's always there at f1.4? Do you know if we can buy the hood from any 3rd party manufacturers, like Haoge, JJC...etc.?
I feel like it's always there, specially in the center of the frame. It's not really a bad thing, but more of a "character" thing and gives images a distinct look, I think. As far as the hood, I never really looked at third party hoods since I can be a snob when it comes to off brand stuff, however, I'm pretty sure there must be some out there. Cheers.
I use a couple of different presets that I have modified over the years. I shoot in RAW, the Leica jpegs straight out of camera have their own unique look.
Thank you! Never used the Ultron so I can't comment on that. I no longer own the lens but I did not notice any significant blockage on the viewfinder using the M240. Cheers.
hello! I just bought this lens based on some positive reviews including your excellent one! I haven't taken a single photo yet as I'm a film shooter but the photos will come soon. A little question though... that's the official Voigtlander LH-6 hood you have there is it? Can you tell me please if it's reversible? I've asked the internet and it's not telling me! It seems expensive for a hood (well all branded hoods tend to be a rip-off!) but if it's reversible at least that's something I'm not going to get from a cheap one that screws into the filter threads. If it isn't well bring on the cheap vented one!
Hey Paul, thanks for watching my video. I no longer own this lens but if I remember correctly the hood was not reversible. Yeah it was a little expensive and I feel like it should have been added with the lens.
Great video as always Sam. I know the leica M mount system is in my future at one point so for now i live through your experiences with that system. lol
I appreciate these videos very much dude, youre in the same seat as me. Love of guitars & photography. I would stay away from the 7artisans lenses tbh. They do produce some nice results, but the ex I got doesnt activate the framelines correctly and sits between 35mm 50mm lines which is annoying. That said, it could just be my copy as well. Id stick with Voigtländer, its so much better quality wise. I will definitely pick this one up to accompany my 50mm 1.5, thanks dude!
Thanks, Alex. I've never tried the 7artisans stuff. Seem like a bang for your buck but I'm sure they are not perfect, even though some RUclipsrs claim they are. I really enjoyed the Voigtlander, solid construction and top notch image quality. Cheers 🥃
I haven't, really. Ever since I picked up the Leica Summicron f/2.0 I've basically stopped looking at other similar lenses. I will be doing a full review of the lens soon.

@@90sPunkRockCovers i would love to see that since I also have the same 2 lenses. Thanks.

Thanks a lot!

It is a great lens.
I shot this lens on my m6! it was great on film.

It's cool, get to know about cameras and lens, i like a lot you video production, thanks for this video :)
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you my friend, I shoot with a Canon C200 and used a creative Lut from James Miller for this video if I remember correctly.
Another good video. I'm actually looking at this lens recently. I think this lens has the perfect cost performance value.
Thanks Edwin. I totally recommend this lens, solid build quality and excellent image quality. Shame about the hood but still worth it IMO.

Thanks for your videos. What filter do you use in Lightroom because these pics are not Leica colors?

Great video! How does this compare to the Voigtlander Ultron II ? Does this lens obscure much if the viewfinder?

Thank you Luis. I'm sure you will love the M system, feels so much like a film camera but with that instant gratification of digital processing 😊
Very nice presentation and great pictures
Thank you so much Marcus.
Hey Great pictures :) ist this sc or mc Version?
Thanks! It was the MC version.

😊
Have you considered Voigtlander 35mm f/2 Ultron?
I haven't, really. Ever since I picked up the Leica Summicron f/2.0 I've basically stopped looking at other similar lenses. I will be doing a full review of the lens soon.
Pronounciation is: "Fohgtlender" (German)
Thanks Karen…
yeah i just learned that the other day from my German friend. Cool!
sc or Mc ?
MC
This lens is made in Japan. not Chinese!
Did I say it was made in China?
The 7 artisans lens is made with their own optical formula different from any summilux, but this Voigtlander VM35 1.4 is a summilux pre-ASPH knockoff.
OK.
