As much as I would like to see Lexi back, I don't know if it is possible with Chyler being in Canada filming Supergirl. They had to go out early and quarantine before filming started and I doubt they would let her leave before the filming is complete since it is SG final season.

That's what I said that the coma was longer than we thought and it was all a dream, like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz when she woke up and told the 3 farm hands (lion, tin man, and scarecrow) they were in it. All the old cast should come back and applaud Meredith's exit while Derrick and Christina take her home.
I want Derek to have cured alzheimers and these episodes are merediths memories coming back. Everyone's deaths have just been the moments she forgot them and slowly she remembers and when she gets better they are all with her and none of the bad shit ever happened

All of Grey’s will be Meredith trying to remember her residency one afternoon (mirroring Episode 1 where we learn at the end that it wasn't happening in real time, but rather Meredith retelling her first week to her Mom), but misremembers details bc of the Alzheimer's (ie Derek took the job in DC and so she thinks he died). Derek comes home to tell her he has found the cure to Alzheimer’s.
i think that throughout the season meredith will get sicker and sicker, and the sicker she gets, the more people she will see. at the end, she dies and is left at the beach and ends with her and the others at the beach who she once loved who have died.
Have you heard the one where instead of when Derrick died mer actually didn’t pull the plug and just put him in a assisted living home and it’s been enough time and his brain has healed. Like in that one episode like season 2. I like that theory

i agree , why should this series end , i get sometimes that alot of the other programmes have run their course or some member of the show wants to pursue their dreams in other acting roles but this show is unique and has enough caracters to branch off into other territories .This show has so many story lines , and wonderful writers that have kept us so entertained for many many years , its one of the few fantastic programmes that i can't wait to watch and we all need antanomy grey to keep going for a while at least , its become part of our lives . Im in spain so i don' t know if meredith and cormac hayes have hooked up , but that is one relationship i would love to see them fall in love and stay together with derek giving his blessing to move on , you can love again and be totally happy that would help loads of people whom have loved and lost , this world needs alot of love again and hope threw these horrible times that the whole world is going threw right now and for god know s how much longer , we need to laugh again , thats the best medicine and so is this show . be safe everyone . x

So it's possible that it may be referring to his final episode, or he may show up this season again. However the group of people with 2020 also give me on thought: that looks like a "where are they now.." grouping for a finale wrap-up scene. Another interesting thing to note is that of the past actors who are rumoured to return, only three have had their characters killed off: Kate Burton, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Loretta Devine.
I havent watched the show since season 6, but seeing the clips of George's return put tears in my eyes, his death was the most traumatic TV death I've ever watched. (Not really relevant but true!)
What would be cool is if oki here’s my story line Meredith hit her head and was in a coma for the last 5 years and season 11 and up was all a dream in her coma state she wakes up 5 years later and Derek never died she’s been asleep for 5 years and all that happened like Meredith getting attacked and Derek death never happened she wakes up for the first time in 5 years and Derek sitting there in the hospital room waiting on her to wake up
I cried when her and George were talking. It was kind of nostalgic to me. I still tear up when I think about Lexi, Mark and Derek. Such iconic characters. I don’t think I’ve gotten over any of them.
Meredith will wake up again and not end up on the beach. Season 17 won't be the final season. Patrick Dempsey once said that he will definitly leave after the S8 Finale and stayed 3 years longer. Debbie Ellen was shocked about the still high viewer rates. Camilla, Kevin and Kim all extended their contracts till S19 I think.. Ellen will probably extend her contract for another 2 years as well. They normally announce it if a final season comes months before. S17 was prised as a normal season and we havent seen Jo getting a new love life, MerLuca / Hayes Closing

In some interviews Ellen says she would that all the original cast will come back. I hope the same. Authors could do it possible cause they have many ideas and possibilities. Here in Italy we are watching the season 16 and this is not the last, I watch many American shows like ‘Castle’ and for the season 8 we see the write : is the Final of this Series
Whatever the ending, I truly believe Meredith deserves a happy ending! I am not saying I want an ending that wraps everything in a nice bow but I don't think Meredith dying or getting alzheimer's would be the way to go. Also, I would love to see Grey's Anatomy ending at season 20 and we need to know this from now so we can prepare.
the perfect ending would be Zola visiting Mer in a nursing home and say mom its me Zola. or, Mer is Chief of surgery and Zola replaces Amelia as head of Neuro

I'd like it to end with a 30second dance party, Christina, Alex, Izzy show up and everyone is together. Then a little 'we never know what's going to happen, just gotta think positive and be a good egg' then dancing in the background of the credits. Like the Friends opening but mirrored in a closing.
They should beat Law and Order svu record and go on. I also think (being a young widow myself) that they should give Meredith the chance to find someone.

I've shared a few insights below but firstly thank you for your amazing gift of you to all of us ! and secondly if you've got the interest to continue please 🙏 Don't leave us. We love you, we've suffered terrible losses and we're not ready to lose you too. I know that's a lot of pressure and if you need to let go for your own happiness. I'll send nothing but love your way if you have burned out ? Perhaps a break if this past year hasn't been enough? There are several people on the show I love for the characters and absolutely adore for the amazing people they are and a couple I wish would return like Arizona? She never stopped being interesting all on her own without a love interest? I'm so glad you've brought Teddy back and Debbie Allen, wow what an amazing talent, legendary star and gifted woman. She stepped into her character without missing a beat. I can't imagine anyone else being Catherine fox or her handsome son. Jo Wilson has flourished into a strong cast member and part if the glue that holds everything together in my opinion. It was difficult to watch when there were so many changes so fast. It felt like the 2 years when I lost 13 family members, that really happened to me. I was floored and it was hard to go through emotionally with the show as we really do grow to love the characters and the real life people portraying them. So I hope you'll find a way to be gentle with losses as we've all suffered so much. I love the way you bring important issues to people's attention. I've laughed and cried more times than I can count. I've cried tears of joy and tears of unimaginable heartbreak even when it's an episode I've seen 5 times and I know Christine is leaving Derek is dying lexi abs mark is dying Gina has made it through her record surgery and Arizona is holding her hand and she says . U picked the right horse. I get to find out what's next. When 007 is written in Meredith's hand. When Meredith and her mother meet in the veil crossing paths. When cali is singing to herself to stay alive for her daughter and Deny passes just a few moments too soon. Aside from Meredith the character who makes me cry the most is dr. Bailey. I love this woman. I can't help but believe there's some part of her she brings into dr Bailey that makes her so genuine and lovable. I know this is long. I don't know if you'll ever see this. I hope you fo. I hope you know the past 2 decades of your life are not being taken for granted. Thank you and thanks to the brilliance of Shaunda ..huge fan if her work ❤
my perfect ending (i saw some theories in the comments that i came up with my own) after the plane crash, mer was put into a coma. mark, lexi and derek are all waiting for her to wake up cause they never died, everything that happened was just a dream. She wakes up and happily ever after. or mer is dying of alzheimers and and derek found a cure, and everyone that died was just someone meredith was forgetting/forgot. (i got this theory from the comments) or the spin-off of everyone's children happens, and zola's first surgery is on her mom, as zola and amelia started up the alzheimers trials again, getting derek's notes and journals and what-not, and mer has alzheimers, hence why the surgery is on her mom, and it starts by zola wearing derek's ferry boat cap and saying "it's a beautiful day to save some lives"
I just want derek back to live with meredith n watch their kids become amazing surgeon, then the second gen take over the story with their parents will come out in some episode like christmas, thanksgiving, or just visit to hospital for board meeting
i actually have an idea for the ending: Meredith along with her kids dies and Cristina hears about it and goes to visit meredith's funeral along with meredith's colleagues. Then meredith sees Derek, lexie, george, mark, her mother and all the friends meredith lost. Then Meredith her kids and Derek will have a happily ever after in their home in heaven. Mark and lexie would have kids and get their happy ever after too. Calzona would get their happy ever after too :)). Cristina would talk to meredith with her ded body and meredith will talk to her too but ofc shes in soul form and cristina would not see or hear her mer will always be in Cristina's side even though cristina doesnt see her...I just know its a perfect reunion and an ending but Sandra would never comeback since she has her new home :)
I hope to see Lexi & what if since Derrick was working for the government when he passed maybe he woke from his coma in a government facility and all these years later he fulfilled his secret mission and gets to return to his life then him & Meredith live happily ever after. Wishful thinking but its possible to write something like that into the show 😄

20 years in the future: All those times Meredith is talking it’s Zola and her siblings in the future reading and discovering her journals that Meredith began to write when she started to get Alzheimer’s Zola brings it to her in a nursing home while Meredith is old and in a bed and Cristina Alex and izzie and maybe Arizona and April and Callie her sisters are also there and talking to Meredith in her death bed we also see Zola is the chief of surgery at greys-Sloan and on the wall it shows great surgeons who died that worked there and Webber and Bailey and Owen and Derek Lexie George are dead so there pictures are on the wall. Then Zola has a surgery and says “it’s a beautiful days to save lives”. The final scene is Zola after her surgery before she’s going home to see Meredith again she then reads the final page in Meredith’s journal and it’s a huge speech about life and it’s very emotional and while she’s reading it shows everyone’s lives and everyone who’s been in the shows ending little moments of there future like y’all know what I mean what happened to them after the left the show you know. And Meredith tells Zola to be extraordinary and to take care of her siblings Ellis and Bailey and you know then merideth dies and Zola’s crying Merediths closest friends and her sisters like come in the room and sit next to Meredith and cry or whatever and say goodbye and it shows merideth on the beach walking away with Derek holding hands then shows George Lexie mark and bailey and the chief and owen since in the 20 year jump there dead and then shows Meredith turning around and shows the scene from the 2nd episode season 1 where she turns around and sees the hospital and smiles then turns around and continues walking and when she continues walking she’s on the beach again walking towards all her lost friends and family you know then zooms up on her face she smiles then it ends.
I think Mer should make a visit at some point to go visit Alex and Izzi! Please don’t let this be the last season and for gods sake don’t kill anyone off. And the idea of Jackson Avery and Joe Karen hooking up is GENIUS! Her baby could be Jackson’s and that could start a whole new story line. There are so many story lines still left. We don’t want the show to go away. Yang won’t be coming back, she has made that very clear!

I think Meredith needs to hook up with her gift from Christine and find a lasting relationship again. While I like dr DeLuca. I've never liked them together. It's a romance that's never been believable for me but the new hunky guy can see some possibilities of TV chemistry there and Meredith has gone long enough without a believable romance since the sexy auzzie went back to his true love. That was a believable connection also the very handsome soldier guy. Maybe he reappears ? I wish Sandra Oh would show up for one episode. I have no idea why she needed to go onto other things in the world but I've missed her character since she left. Losing so many so fast in such a short period almost lost me and I'm a huge devoted fan. While I love some if the new additions ? Losing Arizona? Big loss and if you could bring her back i think that would be a welcome reunion. I love hunt because who doesn't have a warm spot in their heart for him but I feel like he doesn't know who he is anymore? Or maybe I don't know who he is anymore? He was this mysterious tough guy with a secret soft side now ??? Who is he ? He's lost his intriguing aspects other than wondering is he ever going to forgive Teddy ? He's gone flatt. Love love love the legendary Debbie Allen what a smart thing to bring her on . She brings so much to the show and her character. She owned it from minute one. She didn't need time to ease into it. She breathed life into Catherine fox from the moment she hit the screen. Same with Arizona Robin's.. some of the characters brought on and people sent away to make room for haven't been the better trade offs in my opinion. But I adore the brilliance of Shaunda and her award winning creations. I've enjoyed so many of her projects. I hope Greys doesn't end. I don't think it needs to end. I understand it might need to change gears in some subtle way to keep it going but I'll keep watching. I'll watch because I want to know everything that happens in Meredith Grey's life until she's 90 and still vibrant like Betty white still relevant and interesting. I having black nephews and great niece and nephews god sister and friends was happy to see people represented as smart capable doctors and leaders not the only the school janitor or something demeaning and stereotyped. My mother taught me all of my life not to be racist. I can't count the times she told me the story of how being extremely premature and on deaths door there were 9 doctors standing around me not knowing what to do and it was the black doctor that saved my life over 50 years ago. Unless you've been treated by a smart black doctor you might not realize they do exist. Doctor Bailey. Love love love this woman. I'm sure every one wants to hug this woman in real life. I loved Sandra Oh. I appreciated that she was super smart and a bit emotionally detached but not that she didn't care but that she didn't express those emotions outwardly. I've really missed her. So these are a few of my insights as a screenplay writer and lover of amazing performance. THIS is one of the best shows ever created. Thank you and I'm hoping you don't feel this story is over?

I'm guessing they didn't bother to give Leah's character any closure because she was not a main character. Actually I did not realize she disappeared or missed her until I read your comment. I'm guessing then only reason they brought her back was to make Richard doubt his judgement after he told her she was not cut out to be a surgeon. The writers should have given her an exit.

I left off Patrick Dempsey(Derek Shepherd) and T.R. Knight(George O'Malley) because we've already seen those two.
If I'm honest this seems like someone just added 2020 to a bunch of the actors to try and raise speculation? I just can't see them inviting Heigl back after all the drama, but then again they did bring back Patrick Dempsey and I know they didn't end on the best of terms. Also an interesting mix of dead and still alive characters. However the group of people with 2020 also give me on thought: that looks like a "where are they now.." grouping for a finale wrap-up scene.
Another interesting thing to note is that of the past actors who are rumoured to return, only three have had their characters killed off: Kate Burton, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Loretta Devine.
I havent watched the show since season 6, but seeing the clips of George's return put tears in my eyes, his death was the most traumatic TV death I've ever watched. (Not really relevant but true!)

Meredith hit her head and was in a coma for the last 5 years and season 11 and up was all a dream in her coma state she wakes up 5 years later and Derek never died she’s been asleep for 5 years and all that happened like Meredith getting attacked and Derek death never happened she wakes up for the first time in 5 years and Derek sitting there in the hospital room waiting on her to wake up
I'd be okay with this, because I stopped watching when they killed off Derek. So having this I'd be okay with because neither is dead.

Meredith will wake up again and not end up on the beach. Season 17 won't be the final season. Patrick Dempsey once said that he will definitly leave after the S8 Finale and stayed 3 years longer. Debbie Ellen was shocked about the still high viewer rates. Camilla, Kevin and Kim all extended their contracts till S19 I think.. Ellen will probably extend her contract for another 2 years as well. They normally announce it if a final season comes months before. S17 was prised as a normal season and we havent seen Jo getting a new love life, MerLuca / Hayes Closing

Whatever the ending, I truly believe Meredith deserves a happy ending! I am not saying I want an ending that wraps everything in a nice bow but I don't think Meredith dying or getting alzheimer's would be the way to go. Also, I would love to see Grey's Anatomy ending at season 20 and we need to know this from now so we can prepare.

I'd like it to end with a 30second dance party, Christina, Alex, Izzy show up and everyone is together. Then a little 'we never know what's going to happen, just gotta think positive and be a good egg' then dancing in the background of the credits. Like the Friends opening but mirrored in a closing.

I've shared a few insights below but firstly thank you for your amazing gift of you to all of us ! and secondly if you've got the interest to continue please 🙏 Don't leave us. We love you, we've suffered terrible losses and we're not ready to lose you too. I know that's a lot of pressure and if you need to let go for your own happiness. I'll send nothing but love your way if you have burned out ? Perhaps a break if this past year hasn't been enough? There are several people on the show I love for the characters and absolutely adore for the amazing people they are and a couple I wish would return like Arizona? She never stopped being interesting all on her own without a love interest? I'm so glad you've brought Teddy back and Debbie Allen, wow what an amazing talent, legendary star and gifted woman. She stepped into her character without missing a beat. I can't imagine anyone else being Catherine fox or her handsome son. Jo Wilson has flourished into a strong cast member and part if the glue that holds everything together in my opinion. It was difficult to watch when there were so many changes so fast. It felt like the 2 years when I lost 13 family members, that really happened to me. I was floored and it was hard to go through emotionally with the show as we really do grow to love the characters and the real life people portraying them. So I hope you'll find a way to be gentle with losses as we've all suffered so much. I love the way you bring important issues to people's attention. I've laughed and cried more times than I can count. I've cried tears of joy and tears of unimaginable heartbreak even when it's an episode I've seen 5 times and I know Christine is leaving Derek is dying lexi abs mark is dying Gina has made it through her record surgery and Arizona is holding her hand and she says . U picked the right horse. I get to find out what's next. When 007 is written in Meredith's hand. When Meredith and her mother meet in the veil crossing paths. When cali is singing to herself to stay alive for her daughter and Deny passes just a few moments too soon. Aside from Meredith the character who makes me cry the most is dr. Bailey. I love this woman. I can't help but believe there's some part of her she brings into dr Bailey that makes her so genuine and lovable. I know this is long. I don't know if you'll ever see this. I hope you fo. I hope you know the past 2 decades of your life are not being taken for granted. Thank you and thanks to the brilliance of Shaunda ..huge fan if her work ❤

the spin-off of everyone's children happens, and zola's first surgery is on her mom, as zola and amelia started up the alzheimers trials again, getting derek's notes and journals and what-not, and mer has alzheimers, hence why the surgery is on her mom, and it starts by zola wearing derek's ferry boat cap and saying "it's a beautiful day to save some lives"
I just want derek back to live with meredith n watch their kids become amazing surgeon, then the second gen take over the story with their parents will come out in some episode like christmas, thanksgiving, or just visit to hospital for board meeting

i actually have an idea for the ending:
Meredith along with her kids dies and Cristina hears about it and goes to visit meredith's funeral along with meredith's colleagues. Then meredith sees Derek, lexie, george, mark, her mother and all the friends meredith lost. Then Meredith her kids and Derek will have a happily ever after in their home in heaven. Mark and lexie would have kids and get their happy ever after too. Calzona would get their happy ever after too :)). Cristina would talk to meredith with her ded body and meredith will talk to her too but ofc shes in soul form and cristina would not see or hear her mer will always be in Cristina's side even though cristina doesnt see her...I just know its a perfect reunion and an ending but Sandra would never comeback since she has her new home :)

20 years in the future: All those times Meredith is talking it’s Zola and her siblings in the future reading and discovering her journals that Meredith began to write when she started to get Alzheimer’s Zola brings it to her in a nursing home while Meredith is old and in a bed and Cristina Alex and izzie and maybe Arizona and April and Callie her sisters are also there and talking to Meredith in her death bed we also see Zola is the chief of surgery at greys-Sloan and on the wall it shows great surgeons who died that worked there and Webber and Bailey and Owen and Derek Lexie George are dead so there pictures are on the wall. Then Zola has a surgery and says “it’s a beautiful days to save lives”. The final scene is Zola after her surgery before she’s going home to see Meredith again she then reads the final page in Meredith’s journal and it’s a huge speech about life and it’s very emotional and while she’s reading it shows everyone’s lives and everyone who’s been in the shows ending little moments of there future like y’all know what I mean what happened to them after the left the show you know. And Meredith tells Zola to be extraordinary and to take care of her siblings Ellis and Bailey and you know then merideth dies and Zola’s crying Merediths closest friends and her sisters like come in the room and sit next to Meredith and cry or whatever and say goodbye and it shows merideth on the beach walking away with Derek holding hands then shows George Lexie mark and bailey and the chief and owen since in the 20 year jump there dead and then shows Meredith turning around and shows the scene from the 2nd episode season 1 where she turns around and sees the hospital and smiles then turns around and continues walking and when she continues walking she’s on the beach again walking towards all her lost friends and family you know then zooms up on her face she smiles then it ends.
I think Mer should make a visit at some point to go visit Alex and Izzi! Please don’t let this be the last season and for gods sake don’t kill anyone off. And the idea of Jackson Avery and Joe Karen hooking up is GENIUS! Her baby could be Jackson’s and that could start a whole new story line. There are so many story lines still left. We don’t want the show to go away. Yang won’t be coming back, she has made that very clear!

I think Meredith needs to hook up with her gift from Christine and find a lasting relationship again. While I like dr DeLuca. I've never liked them together. It's a romance that's never been believable for me but the new hunky guy can see some possibilities of TV chemistry there and Meredith has gone long enough without a believable romance since the sexy auzzie went back to his true love. That was a believable connection also the very handsome soldier guy. Maybe he reappears ? I wish Sandra Oh would show up for one episode. I have no idea why she needed to go onto other things in the world but I've missed her character since she left. Losing so many so fast in such a short period almost lost me and I'm a huge devoted fan. While I love some if the new additions ? Losing Arizona? Big loss and if you could bring her back i think that would be a welcome reunion. I love hunt because who doesn't have a warm spot in their heart for him but I feel like he doesn't know who he is anymore? Or maybe I don't know who he is anymore? He was this mysterious tough guy with a secret soft side now ??? Who is he ? He's lost his intriguing aspects other than wondering is he ever going to forgive Teddy ? He's gone flatt. Love love love the legendary Debbie Allen what a smart thing to bring her on . She brings so much to the show and her character. She owned it from minute one. She didn't need time to ease into it. She breathed life into Catherine fox from the moment she hit the screen. Same with Arizona Robin's.. some of the characters brought on and people sent away to make room for haven't been the better trade offs in my opinion. But I adore the brilliance of Shaunda and her award winning creations. I've enjoyed so many of her projects. I hope Greys doesn't end. I don't think it needs to end. I understand it might need to change gears in some subtle way to keep it going but I'll keep watching. I'll watch because I want to know everything that happens in Meredith Grey's life until she's 90 and still vibrant like Betty white still relevant and interesting. I having black nephews and great niece and nephews god sister and friends was happy to see people represented as smart capable doctors and leaders not the only the school janitor or something demeaning and stereotyped. My mother taught me all of my life not to be racist. I can't count the times she told me the story of how being extremely premature and on deaths door there were 9 doctors standing around me not knowing what to do and it was the black doctor that saved my life over 50 years ago. Unless you've been treated by a smart black doctor you might not realize they do exist. Doctor Bailey. Love love love this woman. I'm sure every one wants to hug this woman in real life. I loved Sandra Oh. I appreciated that she was super smart and a bit emotionally detached but not that she didn't care but that she didn't express those emotions outwardly. I've really missed her. So these are a few of my insights as a screenplay writer and lover of amazing performance. THIS is one of the best shows ever created. Thank you and I'm hoping you don't feel this story is over?

I'm guessing they didn't bother to give Leah's character any closure because she was not a main character. Actually I did not realize she disappeared or missed her until I read your comment. I'm guessing then only reason they brought her back was to make Richard doubt his judgement after he told her she was not cut out to be a surgeon. The writers should have given her an exit.
