Source a transmission from a wrecking yard. Good donors are vehicles that are wrecked (had to be driving to get in a wreck), and look for bright red fluid. With a little patience and a good tear- down manual you can freshen up a TH350 for about $100.
Yo! So I got a premade kit from Trans-Dapt for the motor mounts. I had to make a custom transmission crossmember. I couldn’t fit conventional headers, so I used stock cast iron manifolds, and they fit, but not with much room to spare!
If your wanting a strong tranny a turbo 400 is very strong infact they built them to handle big blocks .I have a 75 Vega .If your able where the stamped frame in the engine compartment is stitch weld it will give you added strength. Love the content awesome video. Thanks so much for sharing with us. God Bless.
The electronics under the seats are for the seat belt interlock system. In the 70's no one would wear their seat belts. The feds were going to mandate a set belt interlock (seat belts have to be locked before starter circuit would function).
The interlock system was the auto makers answer ( your car should be a 75 produced in first half of model year. When legislation was dropped seat belt interlock was discontinued for rest of 75 model year and subsequent years.
Made the deadline for school, and actually drove the thing to the final "Senior Project" event. Really proud of this thing. I'm still working on it even now, because it still has a long way to go.
Nice job meeting the deadline .I built my vega in high school and still have it .I've painted it a few time and a few motor over the years. here's what it looks like now ruclips.net/video/Z97IxlUH8V0/видео.html
@@ddubsgarage8285 always a fan of V8 Vegas, i'm doing my second one. you need to watch your videos before posting them. too much camera movement makes hard to understand what you are showing, and too many things are shown in a dark space, and we cant tell what you are referring to.

Ditch that fuel filter. They can unscrew and dump fuel on the motor. They look nice but they are dangerous .
for yer heater hoses..... pop the heater box then flip the heater core drill new holes.... plug the old hose holes.
What kind of motor mounts did you to put ur V8 in ? And what kind of headers are you using... Ty

Just flip the core end for end and drill new holes for the hoses. Yeah like Jim said

makes sense, I had no idea they were implementing tech like that back in the mid seventies

I had no clue! I may have to delete it, sometimes I just want to crank the thing over without my belt on.
Do you have any video of you doing the engine mounts? Looks like the same kit I bought from speedway.
unfortunately I don't have any videos of putting the mounts in, they were a specific kit to put that engine in a vega.
Where did you find them headers for $87? Cuz I will order some
think they were on ebay, it was years ago
400 turbo transmission would be better
200r4 out of Monte Carlo SS would have been better, and saved more gas.
Is it still 4 lug or 5 lug
the back is still the stock lug set up, but up front it is now 5 lug off of a buick century
Who makes the heddars
The hot rodders I hung with used to use Hooker Headers back in the late 60's/early 70's. So did I; KIDS,lol
Its July did you make it
