Compared to the boxer from the second movie this karate master was a piece of cake, and he threw Ip Man like a rag doll. Even Mike Tyson gave him a harder time.

This clip perfectly illustrates why we have weight classes in combat sports, skill only goes so far in the face of overwhemlming size and strength.
Have you seen the first few UFC tournaments? There were plenty of lighter guys beating heavier guys.....and this kungfu stuff is entertaining, but wouldn't work in real life. All show, no go.

@@keviedavis5505 the kung fu u see in movies are all show, no go. But pretty much any action movie is going to prioritize how it looks on screen vs how it would actually work in real life, MMA too(see the kick in Boyka). Actual martial arts that are not designed for the ring can be incredibly dangerous and is pretty much only used in life or death situations in the past, now there are lots of fake showy martial arts and the practical stuff can get lost in time bcz u don't have much use of it in these times of piece as well as firearms.
I recommend checking out kuroobiworld, a channel where they have different martial artists in japan show certain techniques and talk about how they work, u will see this stuff can be legit. U might not get the full context if you can't understand japanese, but they do have subs in most of their videos so i still recommend them. They have an mma fighter come and meet these martial artists in some videos as well, it's really interesting

I do believe that you can combine some ideas of wing chun in real life, but not as a standalone.
If youre a decent boxer you could use some of it to better yourself.
But in movies this shit looks dope
Like with many martial arts, the real reason Ip Man and Bruce Lee were legendary was that they practiced like crazy every single day, both evolved Wing Chun to their own style and needs, and above all, both were street fighters with frequent practical lessons in what works in a real fight, versus what works in a kata. Anyone with their dedication, speed, mindset, and real experience is going to be dangerous (even before talent factors in), at that point it doesn't really matter what martial art you study. That applies equally to Wing Chun as it does Karate, Boxing, BJJ, Judo, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Capoeira, etc.

To all those saying Ip Man came on after the infantryman has already taken on 3 masters, do you also notice that Ip Man didn't come on with the intention of fighting but saving the female master from further brutality because she was already down in pain and the infantryman was still going to do further damage? The infantryman still had the thirst of showing the superiority of his art and strength against anyone who'll come out, and he was well served

It was a fair fight and they only decided to start recording when they were winning, which to me makes them look like the bad guy. There was no cheating.
The marine was still softened up by 3 fighters prior.

the white guy is actually a former US Marine irl. He runs a martial arts school in Hong Kong (practice Wing Chun as well), there is an interview about him related to the movie, I bet he might actually do Wing Chun better than Donnie Yen
His moves are legit. I mean, i don't know kung fu but you can say by looking that he's a good fighter in general

Художественный фильм - это искусство обманывать зрителя. Китайцы пропагандируют идею, что изучив технику можно победить любого противника - это неправда. Европейские бойцы выигрывали по очень простой причине - из-за разницы в весовой категории. Все они имели вес 80 кг и более, а китайцы 50-60 кг. И Ип Ман победил потому, что был примерно в равной весовой категории, по китайским меркам он был очень высоким и тяжелым.

You can tell almost all of the chinese masters focused on practicing technical skill rather than physical conditioning. Their hits lack force and when they do get hit, its worse for them because they dont have the muscle mass needed to absorb the blow so almost all of it goes into the internal organs. That means after a single hard hit to the torso and theyre done.
U know why so called China made right? Can't last long so u know what i mean, they are good but lack in something like that.In business also same. They don't made for Quality but Quantity at cheap price.

@@Mofi357 unless it's a chinese branded bike, it's not their problem. If it's a western brand, the quality control is determined by them. If the quality is crap that's because they either want to maximize profits or because that is the most the market segment is willing to pay. A decent pushbike in your case would probably cost 3x what you actually paid and the chinese could have and most likely, already make them at that price range. Again, the problem isn't them, they make what we tell them to make. The problem is that everyone is now poor but that gets hidden by the fact that companies hide price inflation by telling the Chinese to manufacture using cheaper designs and even cheaper components.
Bruce Lee changed that, he brought in the ideal of physical conditioning as well.

Honestly the lady was more skilled, he was just stronger and more durable, so he could take way more punishment than she could and could deal out a lot more with just one hit.
Was looking for this comment! She's definitely having the upper hand until she gets few hits. The lady's nevertheless still surprisingly strong for putting up a good fight against someone almost twice her size.
This is Hsingyi, I practise it. Plot aside, this style actually emphasizes more on KO by single hits instead of on skills, so unfortunately is more weight dependent. (There was a saying among older martial artists that Hsingyi is as brutal force as boxing)

I agree that size and strength matter and thats why people here commenting how this is JUST a movie. But the technique behind is remarkable so is not a conclusion that karate is better or that you have to be a man to be a winner on a fight. Today's era is pure MMA and they use Asian fighting styles too.

Так-то это был уже 4 бой. До этого мужик троих мастеров уделал. А Ип стоял отдыхал всё это время. Так что мужик красава, хоть и проиграл.
В конце фильма, в конце боя он победил самого сильного солдата когда он был полон сил, а тут ип ману было бы все равно если бы этот каратист был в пике, ип ман > каратист
А если учесть и то что он проиграл-то по сценарию...

Not really. That’s like saying I got tested for Stds 3/4 times. That’s like an UFC winning his qualifying matches for the championship fight and losing to the current champ.
@@CoffeeMadeMeSay If all four of those qualifying matches were against respective champions of their weight classes or divisions, then they were also fought consecutively like they are here, I'd agree he wouldn't get the belt but I would still argue that the morale victory would be his.
To be honest the entire match didn't make much sense... Replacements kept showing up... Basically 200+ people could fight the karate guy until he got tired, then they still declare victory... Doesn't make any sense.

IP man is the best Dragonball and Superman live action movie on a writing perspective, a almost Invincible Man, undefeatable in sense yet still faces adversities. This is how you make a story of an Overpowered Character he still faces obstacles due to the fact not all obstacles has a face to punch.

Очень интересно раньше было смотреть... Но по крайней мере этот бой выглядит максимально наигранно. Морпех вообще во время боя с Ип Маном просто останавливается и не шевелится, ждёт, пока на нём приёмы опробуют. Видимо, созерцание реальных боёв открыло мне глаза)
Да если честно морпех просто кулаками махал. Любой мастер его бы и с закрытыми глазами победил

Да это боевая хореография, а не реальный бой. Любого мастера Вин-чун просто разорвет на куски кмс по кикбоксингу или муай-тай, а вольник свернёт в бараний рог. Это философия, гимнастика для поддержания здорового тела, что угодно но не боевое искусство. Может между собой там они могут махать руками и ногами, но против доказавших свою эффективность боевых искусств даже шансов нет.
Видео доказательств встречь таких "мастеров" с реальными бойцами уйма на Ютубе.
Даже я, диванный любитель мма, в жизни не ударивший человека, вижу, что тут 99% ударов просто не доносят) Бьют воздух, а оппонент зачем то это отражает. (Ясно зачем, для зрелезности).

Люканг выше пояса ноги задрать не может , а еще смешно когда у него замах ноги 90 градусов , он почему-то бьет рептилию не в бочину под руку а почему то по голове ,получается реплтилия ему по пояс. Полный бред для школяровтого времени которые даже незамечают эти ляпы и не соответствия.

What people often miss in these fights is the difference of the age and bodily strength that is portrayed always between the Kungfu masters and the other challengers. He literally isn't making any effort to defend. Would like to see this fight with a guy like Bruce Lee who isn't old and frail like most of these masters.
Bruce Lee has no shortage of movies where he fights a wide variety of opponents - they're a little dated now but they're still great viewing!
its more that none of these masters have really actaully fought. Bruce Lee IRL came from street fighting in hong kong hence why he one did what did, and two could actually fight.
The lady master impressed me the most. She was focused and strong.

В таких фильмах у бойцов априори отсутствует усталость - они могут махаться хоть целый день.

История развития боевых исскуств прекрасно показывет нам что такие исскуства как Винь Чунь это конечно красиво... Но не эффективно. Брюс Ли ведь тоже не зря создал свой стиль и был противником показушных "летающих" Бойцов.
Нет. ИП Ман общался и с Брюсом Ли, оказал на него влияние. Не нужно их сравнивать. А вот Тарантино в своем фильме "Однажды в Голливуде" красиво обыграл встречу молодого Брюса Ли с каскадером в Голливуде (его играл Брэд Питт). Как было на самом деле, кто знает. Но эта встреча оказала на Брюса большое влияние, они вместе работали над новым стилем Брюса Ли .
