I did the same install on my wife's 2001 Mazda Tributes leather seats (same interior as a Ford Escape) we sold it to our daughter and they are still working fine 15 years later.....the only small problem I had was not leaving enough extra electric cord under the passenger's seat (the plug would come undone when the seat was slid all the way back) but that was an easy fix. Great Product!!............. I got lucky , most of the seat cover attachments were velcro
This is the third install video I've watched on these seat heaters. What sets yours above the rest was when you showed how many amps the seats were using on both the low and high setting. Just what I was looking for, thanks!
You're welcome Steven. They still work great years later. I even used the second heating pad on a temp switch to keep the lithium batteries in my RV above freezing.
Nice work Brian! It's good to see you on line again. Seems like it's been ages since we've seen one of your terrific videos. The car I now have does have heated seats and I have to say that when it -6 degrees (like this morning) they certainly do feel nice!
I got a dud on Amazon had to return the set (of 2). After the 1st ones not working I looked around for good reviews of ones that worked. Crimestopper HSK150 seems to be pretty good and found it on Walmart for 30 each seat. I bought only one this time to test it in case this experiment craps out again. It worked well and I found the same model being sold on eBay for even cheaper by the same seller (22 shipped). Unfortunately the one of the switches didn't light up, but the seller sent a replacement switch very quickly. The install took 4-5 hours PER seat. Wiring took another few hours. I know that sounds insane but between taking in and out the seat and dealing with those metal rings was a nightmare. Wish I saw your video first for the tip about the zip ties. They are a LIFESAVER. I'm embarrassed to say I spend close to 15 hours on it though. Now if there was an easy way to heat the steering wheel.
Great job, but do you think you could show your airbag reset procedure please? And also, how the connection runs from your seat to the switch and fuse. Much obliged for your efforts, thanks.
Great info without all the b.s. so many others have. I would have liked for you to talk about the product more. How long did it take for you to feel the heat? How warm did it get on low/high? What limits the heating. Some products when they reach the heat limit go off and don't come back on for a long time. I'm wondering about this for car camping. Again thank you for the straight forward approach.
I should’ve thought about this before i change my leather seats. Now im thinking about doing this and doing all those over again, but this should be super easy though
awesome upload sir, iam thinking about adding these to my honda s2000, when i go for drives with the top down, these warmers will be perfect. nice lottle project thanks
Did you do 1 or 2 seats? I'm doing both front seats. Wondering if I can splice both positive reds and go to one 10 Amp fuse. I plan to ground both at same source.
Nice presentation, however I have a question, if my car fuse box have dedicated seat heater slot and I want to use fuse tap may I stick the fuse on the top slot and leave the bottom one empty? I also checked other people's you tube clips and they were mentioning to determine load side and draw side on the fuse before stick it into fuse box, is it necessary to do that?
Thats Great Brian as a mechanic myself I would say you did a good job. I didn't let my wife view this video with me as I don't want to give her any ideas for me. Anyways I was wondering if your side view mirrors are heated on your RV as mine is a 2008 Four Winds 28A with the Chevrolet 6.0. As if they are then your lucky as I am not so much as I have had issues mostly at higher altitudes with rainy cold weather fogging them up along with rain droplets. I recently saw a kit on ebay to put a heater between the mirror and the plastic part inside. As those premade heated and adjustable mirrors are like $400 each side. Anyways I just need them to be heated. I would like to see you try it first so I don't destroy mine in the process as being a mechanic and all I do have limitations especially to stuff like that.Mike
Thanks Mike. In fact my RV mirrors are heated, but I don't use that feature much. Probably a good idea keeping the video from your wife. She might get the kit for you for Valentine's day or something :)
is that high pitch noise when you switched it to high from the inverter you are using? its not coming from the seat heater components right? lol I think the noise would heat my gf up more than the element. Also, would i need to tap 2 different open fuses in my fuse box to do this installation? I don't know how many powered open slots I have.
The things we do for our wives. A happy wife means a happy life. I personaly cannot see the necessity for heated seats. Providing your car has a good heater that is all you need.
Still work great, but we're not using them right now since it's summer. I never did the second seat though, just the drivers side. It would work fine under seat covers too. It would certainly be much easier to install. That's for sure.
Gotcha' Great Job no doubt. Luckily my vehicle has front and rear heated seats. phew! "wiping the sweat off my forehead"...... You all have a great Christmas!
You might want to add a Stepped Drill Bit set to your toolkit because they are great for drilling many sized holes: www.amazon.com/Ginsco-Large-Steel-Drill-Cutter/dp/B01CNEICOQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482103785&sr=8-1&keywords=cone+drill+bit+for+plastic
Bill Anderson Yes that's what I used for the initial hole, but it was the smaller sized stepped bit. I needed the next size up. I'm at home depot now looking at one...buying it :)
Great video, helps that you’re realistic about the difficulties getting the fabric off. Probably the hardest part of the install.

I have not done a car seat, but I did do the seat on my motorcycle. I agree it does make a huge difference for cold weather riding.
That's probably a great upgrade for a motorcycle.

You impress me as pretty much an average guy, so I'm going to try these heated seats in my older Taurus. Thanks for the encouragement.

-6 brrr. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. I've got several good videos coming. Just busy with life. That's all.

I hear ya. I still haven't installed the heating pad in the second seat. I don't feel like removing and tearing apart another seat. Too much effort :)
Very impressive DIY job. A lot of helpful information. Thanks for letting us come along.
Thanks. Glad you liked it.

Haha. You know it :)

I only have the pad and the switch button, what should i install between them to control low and high heat? Please help
if you disconnect the battery before you unblug the air bag plug wires the light will not come on when you put it back together
Does the black ground wire just get grounded somewhere on the car where it’s metal?
Very good presentation.
Did you do 1 or 2 seats? I'm doing both front seats. Wondering if I can splice both positive reds and go to one 10 Amp fuse. I plan to ground both at same source.
👍👍 Man, you come up with the coolest things! Looks great! Surely this will ensure you a great Christmas present from her!
Thanks Chris!

Thanks for laying out the details for our exact car. ;-) Cool to see your shop featured after being there in person.
Hey no problem. Stop on by again so our CRVs can have a play date :)
Great Job.
I have a similar model, and am curious what to do with the black wire and the red fuse ... instructions are lacking
I'd take the easy way out and use high quality seat covers. By going that route, you could reuse them when you purchase a new toad eventually.
A video with comments? Never thought I'd see the day.
You didnt show the work nor any of the backrest i stall?

No. It's definitly not coming from the seat heaters. Doesn't make noise at all and still keeping our bum warm.
Hows the heated seat performing after 3 years? Worth the money?
Still working good.
nice install. may have to put these in my rv.
Awesome Idea and job
great video. I just ordered them. How are they holding up?
+Richard Doyle Still holding up good. Wife loves it since it's been at or below freezing when she leaves work.
The things we do for our wives. A happy wife means a happy life. I personaly cannot see the necessity for heated seats. Providing your car has a good heater that is all you need.
my wife has a 15 minute commute so having nearly instant seat heating goes a long ways as by the time she gets there the car is just getting warm
Since it's been cold, she really likes it because it warms up before the car does.
How are these heated pads working now? And what would you think about installing them on the underside of aftermarket seat covers?
Still work great, but we're not using them right now since it's summer. I never did the second seat though, just the drivers side. It would work fine under seat covers too. It would certainly be much easier to install. That's for sure.
Great video!
Amazon to the rescue.
Yes. As always
we live in fla, no need for seat heaters, more time to golf
Fore!
what brand did you get, water carbon?
I don't remember. It was in Chinese. The link should be in the description. Still working great by the way. 👍
@@RVwithTito nice its probably watercarbon. I ended up getting doorman, it had great reviews. Cost $106 CAD for 2.
I’m from the uk has anyone tryed it on a Astra
I use the wifes embossing heat gun to lol
These heaters are now under $50. For $95-100 you can get four seat heaters.
Impressive Tito.....What was your total time from removal to re-installation?
I'd guess around 3-4 hours (taking away time for filming and all that). To do it again would probably take half that though.
Gotcha' Great Job no doubt. Luckily my vehicle has front and rear heated seats. phew! "wiping the sweat off my forehead"...... You all have a great Christmas!
Yes. Happy holidays to you also!
thanks for the upload
what fuse would you recommend for this
+Isaac Knight I think I used a 10 amp fuse.
well done
looks to complicated for me to undertake this method of keeping the seats warm.
So, how did your wife like the heated seats?
She loves it Rudy!
How much time did this install take roughly? Thanks for sharing.
I’m so doing this
put mine under the seat covers i bought

LOL Awesome
You dont do it for the other side?? how rude!
Cutting through the pad like THAT didn't jack anything up? AT ALL??
No problems. There are places you can cut and places you can't.
@@RVwithTito oooh thats sweet
