My old gas mower died not too long ago, and had to go out and buy a replacement, went to Lowes and was actually thinking about the electric, but I asked the guy there about the electric, he said what kind of lawn do i have, I said "I don't, it's mostly weeds, rough stuff, and I rarely ever cut it, only when it gets to 1-2 feet high".....he said forget the electric, they are great for the nice lawns, not to high, but not for the way you want to use it. So I bought the gas one very similar to what you have shown in this video.

Thanks for the comment! I have a few spots in the yard that sometimes grows to about two feet, I'll do a cutting comparison soon. Be interesting to see how it handles. Thanks for watching!

@@b.i.g.withbr530 maybe it will be alright if it's just a little tall grass.....not a full lawn of high weeds like mine is....so you ask, why don't i cut it down more often ? Because I am old and can't stand to do it...LOL !!

The guy at the store was definitely on the right track. I just purchased a new home. The grass hadn’t been cut in over a month. There was grass well over a foot maybe even close to two feet an lots of weeds. I had borrowed a two year old lawn mower and it did a few strips about 40ft each and actually killed the push mower. So I bought the 250$ ryobi 20in 40v push mower. I raised the lawnmower blade just a few from the max and then lowered it to where I like it, worked great. But maybe a better gas powered would have been better an my luck from the borrowed gas lawnmower was just bad but was definitely taken care of before it died.

@@greg33770 What you need to do is instead of mowing the lawn, once a year when the weather condition is right, burn your yard down without endangering your house or your neighbor! why bother

I prefer rear discharge. Side discharge is harder to get around, especially once you attach the collection bag. And it seems a lot of the electric mowers are plastic and therefore, do not last as long. And as far as the metal ones, I prefer to have one with an aluminum body, like I have now, a Husqvarna with a Briggs and Stratton engine.

Once you get used to that model Ryobi it is pretty great.

I just got the Whisper version of this mower, but in the non-motorized "true push" version. It's wonderful. Super easy to push and manuver. Also does a fantastic cut. (It's also way lighter than the old gas John Deere mower it replaced...)

The Whisper series look really cool. I got my eye on the string trimmer if they run a sale, thanks for watching!

Good thing I still had my TroyBilt gas mower because the Ryobi I purchased only lasted for just the very short time that I used it once. I returned it because the batteries were stuck in the chamber. Even the rep at H.D. couldn't get them out. And the plastic housing unlike what you said is quite flimsy

I really want that mower but the price is holding me back now I’m concerned about the size. I have an area of my yard that is narrow and requires me to spin around the small gas mower I have now ( similar to yours ). I can see this this one being near impossible to turn around

Thanks for watching! Some of their newer 40V models look smaller. I'm hoping to pick one up and compare.

Go to Home Depot, Ryobi has two smaller mowers to choose from.

I cut thick Bermuda on a lawn that includes a slightly sloped hill with this one. Very maneuverable IMO. I love my Ryobi. I eventually sold my gas powered awesome Honda. 😢You can go with smaller options as well-even competitors mowers. I say if you don’t have a huge yard or you’re not doing commercial lawn care, go electric.

I came to the same conclusion.. my gas powered lawn mower seems like it wants to last forever, why should I throw it away, spend a lot of money and start praying the batteries won't die after 3 years. Plus, I have to bring them inside the home in the winter and so on. All my other tools are cordless, I just don't see a good case for the lawn mower.

get in the habit of bringing every battery into the house/climate controlled part of the house every time. don’t let ‘em ‘live’ in the garage/shed. the summer heat in a garage will kill a battery’s lifespan quickly, just as the cold. heat is the enemy of lithium ion batteries. i keep my set of batteries in a bucket in the corner of the den year round
