Howdy. Picked up the PK 380 this weekend mostly for the grip and feel. Once home field stripped it and cussed the spring a bit. Found your 3 videos & found them to be the best on youtube, saved the Wife and myself a lot of heartache. Had it out today, (50 rounds) group at 30 ft, with practice feel it'll get a bit tighter. Thank you for the videos and making the experience much better for sure.
Your reviews on the Walther PK380 are very informative. I just purchased this gun and agree with you on all you said. I had trouble getting the spring back in until I saw your video on how to put it back in. The only trouble I had was that my counters don't have a sharp edge but a rounded one and they are also painted. The shape of the counters made it a little more difficult to get the spring back in and when I checked to make sure it was seated, I saw a tiny fleck of paint in the spring.
My wife has a PK380, and because of her mobility issues, carries hers in a cross-draw OWB holster. I installed a factory laser and it really helps her aim.
Thanks for this, I appreciate the time you spend on these. My wife and I both loved how this weapon felt in the hand so we picked one up. Waiting for some better weather to try it out.
Thank you for the review! I bought one of these today and it is super easy to handle for me. It was funny watching the salesman try to reload the spring...thanks to you the spring will be easier for me
Thank you William for the wonderful review. Very interesting. Very well done. Thanks for covering the issue of recoil and how the gun handles. So often in gun reviews the reviewer never mentions these issues. To me its one of my main concerns. I want a gun that's easy, nice and pleasurable to shoot. Your review has been super helpful. Thanks again.
Thanks for the great review! Just purchased this weapon for my wife and she absolutely loves it over her 357 revolver. Thanks for the advice on the spring since I'll be the one cleaning it
I'll be if you look around you'll find some surface in your place that has sharp edges to make getting the spring back in more easily. Glad you like the reviews.
You're more than welcome. The spring method really works. Without it one is pretty discouraged from routine cleaning. With this method the whole process is a snap.
@bfgguns Glad you like the review. I think the first part is especially important. Most reviews of the PK380 talk about the spring problem on re-assembly but no solution--they just say it's hard. Too bad.If getting the spring back is a nightmare you won't clean it as often as it should be cleaned. The method I show for resetting the spring is simple, quick & easy. Most anyone can do it...and can happily clean their weapon as often as it should be.
Good review. Bought one for my gf today. She's only 5 feet tall, tiny hands. It's lighter than the single stack thunder 380 and she liked the way it felt in her hands better. So to say small women might not like this, in comparison to something like the thunder, is false. Hell, I'd edc this thing every day myself, as I have small hands. I'd prefer a Colt commander 1911, but for the price, this is hard to beat.
I think you'll really love it. As light as it is the recoil is not too bad at all. There are low recoil .380 ammo you can buy that is very effective. I think you'll like every thing about the gun.
I think you'll like the gun a lot. Get some FMJ a put a few hundred rounds through it. Then get some low-recoil hollow point for carry. I found mine to be very reliable and reasonably accurate.
With the safety on you can decock this gun by pulling the trigger. With the safety engaged it just blocks the hammer from striking the pin same as a beretta except the lever does not release the hammer
Nice review, though i am surprised, as thorough of a review as it was, you didn't mention the absence of a slide release lever on this piece....You do a nice job speaking clearly and calmly on camera....
@bfgguns In my opinion, the spring issue is so frustrating without an easy method of reassembly like I offer in Pt. 1 I believe Walther should show it or some other method, or offer some tool that makes it easy. Otherwise some people won't buy the gun that otherwise would. I know there are guns I like that I won't buy because of assembly and disassembly difficulties. Why should I buy some gun with such problems when I can buy an equally good one that is easy to clean and reassemble?
double action/single action: with the trigger uncocked the trigger pull is longer and harder (about 10 pounds), After the first shot (DA) the trigger is pulled for the second shot (SA), which is about 4 pounds.
I have a query for you sir: do you know what the hole in front of the serial ID with the label "F" and "S" at 90 degrees to each other are for? Seems to be compatible with the same Walther key but I'm unsure of what it does.
Michael Boyd You can use tweezers to go in and change the angle so you can disassemble the gun. Or, you could make your own with a piece of metal and some files.
@bfgguns yes, I find it shoots everything reliably. It will probably jam with bad ammo, but I haven't run into that yet.Check out my third follow up video to get an idea how accurately it shoots for me.
actually, carry for a woman is not all that much of a problem with the PK380. It's the perfect pistol for a large purse---easy to find. There are purses that have holsters hidden inside. This gun would be perfect for that.

Thank you for this review. I plan to purchase this gun. I think this is a fantastic gun for women. It is light and feels very comfortable in my hand.

Great review. Very informative. Thank you.
my first gun :)
my key is still in the slot and I can't get it out? what should I do?
send me your 380 ill fix it for you
Great review, thanks!
whats the name of the tool you used to unlock the small hole?
No idea. It's just a tool Walther supplies for the purpose of breaking down the PK. I keep it on my keychain.
Oh ok cause I bought my a pk380 today but watching your video thought me alot about it but I realize I didn't get one of the key

Oh cool thanks for the advice

Today in 2022 Accuracy is in question
But what to do when your takedown pin is gone? There is none anymore. How can I fix this?
Schrader valve tool fits it perfectly.
