Engraving Easter Eggs with the Egg Laser

- This machine is inspired by the original EggBot, but instead of a pen, it uses a water cooled 1 W laser diode.
The Egg Laser is controlled by an Arduino Uno running a slightly modified version of grbl. The spindle pwm signal is used to control the power of the laser (M3 S100 = 100% laser power).
The G-Code is generated with a modified version of the inkscape-unicorn extension. github.com/mar... I modified the extension to generate the »M3« and »M5« commands for the laser instead of the Servo up-down commands for the original EggBot. I also implemented GO moves for faster positioning.
The patterns are created by a simple processing sketch…

Ein paar Befehle ändern sollte aber trotzdem kein Problem sein.

I don't sell those, but you can google for »eggbot« and you will find many versions you can buy. (but not with a laser)

Meinen habe ich inkl. Treiber bei www.insaneware.de/ gekauft, gibt es aber auch bei ebay. Aber gleich die passende Laserschutzbrille mitbestellen, mit so einem Laser ist nicht zu spaßen!

hallo echt geil. gibts da irgendwie eine anleitung dafür wo alles etwas genauer beschrieben ist? Ich hab mir selbst einen eggbot pro gebaut und so ein laser wär noch ein nettes zusatzspielchen.

Eine Anleitung gibt es nicht, aber ich könnte die veränderte Version von Grbl sowie die modifizierte Inkscape Extension irgendwo hochladen - müsste dafür allerdings erst mal noch ein bisschen den code aufräumen, dass war alles recht schnell zusammengeschustert… weiß gerade selbst nicht mehr was ich alles verändert habe ;-)

well, I meant just the eggshell, maybe if the laser traced the same pattern multiple times ?

The blue laser only works with painted or brown eggs. On white eggs, the laser does not leave a scratch. Because almost all the light is reflected. If you engrave a line on brown egg the line will be white, on a second pass, the laser has the same effect as on a white eggshell - almost non…
A better choice would be a red or infrared laser… I think…

Hallo, wirklich cooles Teil. Könntest du den geänderten grbl Code und die Inkscape Extension vielleicht veröffentlichen. Ich selbst habe einen Eggbot Clone, den ich gern (auf Laser) umbauen würde.

Servus, In der Videobeschreibung ist jetzt ein Link zur modifizierten inkscape Extension zu finden. Im grbl code habe ich nur die maximale drehzahl auf 100 eingestellt (damit M3 S100 = 100% Laserleistung entspricht) und den Homing-Cycle angepasst.
