- Time to build this project again after 5 years! Eggbot with an Arduino, stepper motors, 3D printer and laser cutter! CNC egg painting is not only fun but also is a great introduction to CNC machines, GRBL and CNCjs.

I love that type of project. it's not a modest one at all and as you said it helps understanding any CNC machine operation. In one word, it's pretty INSTRUCTIVE, Thank you Nikodem!
It woud be nice to switch the pen with a small dc motor with a end mill and put like styrofoam eggs used for decoration and carve some models Nice build you gave me an ideea to make something like this on my chanaell Nice work!

just a lil tip: insert the threaded inserts with an soldering iron, its much easier and cleaner! great build, as always! love from germany

@@nikodembartnik Depends on the tip you use, but easy to remove afterwards
@@nikodembartnik You don't get any plastic on the iron. You put the iron inside the insert to heat it up. Then just push it in.

Quite an improvement from "model 1," but I agree with you that the DIY version is special. It advanced your understanding of the Arduino platform and many other forms of DIY skills. Thanks! Sure, DIY is always cool but it's also fun to take old projects and approach it with fresh knowledge, ideas and tools! Yes, I made this moon timelapse from my balcony at night (because of quarantine I am really bored and started playing more with my filmmaking gear). Stay safe too!

My third arduino project was a draw bot. Four years ago I started a n egg bot and never finished it. My plan was to use nema 17 and easy drivers with an arduino board. I have most of it finished so I guess I ashould finish it and make a short video of it. I have been trying to tei up my loose end projects.
Have you ever tried to change a bit the outer/inner path of your laser cutted parts
You can avoid glueing the pieces by having well dimensionned pieces and it makes very strong parts

Hello Nikodem, great job well done. I built your eggbot and I have a stability problem with Cncjs. arduino says that the available memory is low. Why not have used a lighter arduino code in order to draw directly from Inkscape? Thank you.

Have you ever thought about creating a project using the idea of this device to machine complex objects in 3 dimensions? You would put a cutter in place of the laser!
I have a CNC machine which I love, now I am learning out to do some programming on the Arduino board and the stepper motors I purchased with them. I also have the CNC shield , I have been using the Mach3 for my CNC machine, could the Mach 3 be used to run the egg printer, and how could I set it up to do that?

Very cool :) BUT, you must have made something wrong with your small stepper motors. I have the same and they are rock solid. No play at all. Sounds more like your axel was at fault.
Very fun! I wonder if you could use gearing to reduce the backlash? Or add elastic on the rotational axis because it is really only one or two revolutions max.

Hey Nikodem, it's possible to scale up this project to write on basket ball? I think this will be a good project for our local junior basket team, where every player can have his own personalized ball.
I think so, basketball has uneven structure so there may be a problem with the pan, but maybe that could work somehow :)

I Will make this thing, but I am stuck at the beginning, When I try to import GRBL library from Github to Arduino IDE, I get report :
"Specified folder/zip file does not contain a valid library"
Please help :-(
Try to manually add it to the library folder, here you can find how: www.arduino.cc/en/guide/libraries
@@nikodembartnik Well, it's stupid easy, IF you know how to do it. I couldn't find answer anywhere… So, when one download zip file from GitHub, you get multiple files and folders,(btw there is newer release), you must copy ONLY folder with name grbl into arduino libraries folder. GAME OVER. DONE. I have tried at list 30 times with whole thing downloaded from Github without success, because usually when I have downloaded libraries from GitHub I have always use the file as it came….
