Yea supposedly in season of Vikings Valhalla they will mention a lot of the characters from Vikings like Ragnar, Lagertha, Bjorn and other names.
I think in this they are talking about the Saint Brice’s day massacre. King Ethelred killed thousands of Danish descendants in England

In 1002, thousands of residents in the Danelaw, who were descendants of the great heathen army, were massacred by aethelreds regime as vengeance for renewed Viking raids in England. One of the casualties was the sister of Sweyn Forkbeard, king of Denmark. As a result, he raided and burned England into bankruptcy, then gathered a huge invasion force from all over Scandinavia. When he arrived in England he didn’t even have to fight a battle. All of England submitted to him and Aethelred fled to Normandy.

I'll miss Vikings forever, all the actors, the writing, the story were so well built up it'll be hard to compare. But I'm curious now for this new era. Many stories still wait to be told, many great names, and seeing the way this "new" Vikings move and speak.. my hope are high.
gotta disagree with the story, after Ragnars death it wasnt the same. Plus how ivar died was lame as heck.... and Hvitserks ending was also wtf :D

@@MiaMikaelaaaa I liked the story after Ragnar's death, the relationship between the brothers, the different paths they followed, the differences in their ambition (reign, power, curiosity and travel, revenge, personal growth, etc.). Ivar's death, also, was beautifully written, in my humble opinion, even if I didn't enjoy some aspects of the last war, his moments were epic. Of course, this is just what I think.
The writing was atrocious but the aesthetic was OK.

Look for who the The Varangians were. This is fascinating and relevant history, your not told about. The Vikings where not always savage like in this movie. The Varangians, was the name given by Greeks to Vikings, mostly Swedes. Between the 9th and 11th centuries, Varangians ruled the medieval state of Kievan Rus', settled among many territories of modern Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, and formed the Byzantine Varangian Guard which later also included Anglo-Saxons. ( Wrongly named by FακεΝεως establishment historians, as Byzantine, were it really is ‘Roman’, Byzantium was a small part of the Greek Roman Empire where they built glittering Constantinople .)

The Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) was a legacy, incomparable.
Even after many years of his death in series, I think he is one the most complete actors. And, definitely, He is The Only Ragnar Lothbrok for me, forever.

What made everyone love the primal vikings was the character development of key characters like Ragnar, legathra, rollo, the sons etc…so I hope this new show has the same concept otherwise it won’t last
Ragnar's legacy is inspiring. This continuation of that great story will be the reason that I will renew my Neflix subscription. There are some life lessons to learn from the Vikings. I wear an authentic Viking arm ring to remind me of these life lessons

Post Ragnar’s death indeed started a bit boring for me too, but once I realised that his sons were not the same as their father, and had their own goals every went right back to perfection. Each brother, each king, jarl, skokarmaor fought for their goals in their own ways.

yeah I'm really tired of generic biker gang wars... Making all those nonsensical outfits is a waste of time and money for my taste, and ppl responsible for those should be fired. And I won't even mention nonhistorical events and scenes...
It's gonna be hard to find something like that when even scholars argue about the reality. This said, I personally watch those as inspired from the Viking Age, not as depicting it. Otherwise I'd go as crazy as the ridiculous versions of the berserkers those movies depicted

@@felixbec-cook9766 wrong William is not listed in the cast sadly....so your gonna have to wait a long time for William to come in this series because Emma of Normandy is the mother of Edward the confessor so by timeline this is long before 1066.

I stopped to watch first episode at 35 minutes, turned off my pc and went to sleep. I'm not a descendant of the Vikings, I'm a descendant of the Romans, but for solidarity to the Scandinavian friends, I will not watch a TV show where a Scandinavian white nobleman is played by a black woman.

But if I may remind you, Ragnar as a king did not avenge the slaughter of his colony in wessex and he went to paris only for ambition, as I never heard him saying he wanted lands there for his people like he did in wessex. I am not saying that i despise the character of Ragnar(well, during the Paris arc, i did a little), of course, but his is a sad story, for power and ambitions (and many heartache, such as the death of Athelstan and the ending of his dream about Wessex because of Ecbert)had corrupted him.

There are many content in history and we are excited to watch that era ..
Vikings has really gave us experience of that changing world ..

Vikings raided because their homelands at the time were actually quite poor. Christian nations like England and France were quite rich at the time which is why the were raided. Converting basically meant better trade and becoming rich. Also it was becoming harder to raid due to advances in technology and better defences by the Franks.
Also kings gained more centralised power by converting to Christianity. They gained the administration of the church, which was highly organised and supported the king’s power. They also gained alliances with Christian kings.

Last year I finally watched through Vikings & it was the best thing I ever did brilliant characters & breathtaking moments. I loved it that much the week after I finished it I watched it with my mum & dad all over again and now there obsessed. Really hope to god this is the same & if it is Netflix don’t do there usual and cancel it 😓
I hate the fact that after the first season they ditched the idea of shield walls and tactics in favor of Hollywood style battles.
They have wrapped filming season two as well

@@sameershahbaz9652 I really enjoyed Last Kingdom though the first episodes I found the lead kinda annoying, but then he developed and grew on me. LOVED season 2. And by god, I love love love the Lady of Mercia, Aethelflaed. I thought she was a made up character for some silly reason but was blown away to learn she was actually a real person who was that amazing and even more in real life. The main character, Uthred, by contrast is made up but amazingly enjoyable. A bloody fantastic warrior and character. The other vikings are great, and so is Alfred (actor was fantastic, better than the unrealistic actor in vikings). Sets and everything are top notch. I should really re-binge it lol

I was just thinking about Vikings few days ago and realized it was a masterpiece tv show from episode one all the way to the last scene of the last episode.
I swear that guy on the boat gave me chills cause I thought that was floki, ahhh i miss the old days i wish i could watch vikings for the first time once more.....
