This is great - a change from just plain water and it has vitamin C . I love that TANG and LEMON AIDE .
what about LDS fruit punch. It has added vitamins
@manu ochenta I pray that you are never in a situation where you would give anything for a drink of this junk!
@manu ochenta Wow! In an emergency situation...you would still stick to your core values? I doubt that very seriously. This is about emergency preparedness. Where did you lose that thought?
Sumac can be foraged to make something like lemonade.
I always put a cupcake paper on top of powdery stuff so that your hose doesn’t get clogged on your foodsaver.
YARNPREPPER or coffee filter
Brilliant!!
You can also use coffee filters cut to size!
Oops, already recommended, lol
Definitely!
Very good idea. If shtf, I don't think we would be worrying about whether this is good for us or not. It would be a welcome sight. God bless!
This is so true. Plus it is going to be essential to keep getting enough calories.
Only if you don’t have dietary needs. Then you’ll be scared AF that all that’s left is far, sugar and salt! People with dietary needs need to prep better than anyone, because the only thing that will be left before everything is gone, will shorten your life anyway.
ONE reason that I store those powdered drinks is sometimes water that has been stored for long time can taste off or stale. This would help make it palatable:)
If your stored water tastes stale, it is because the air in the water has evaporated! Just pour the water from jar to jar a few times to restore that air! Usually, works pretty well!
Plus it's a comfort thing. These small things help with not going crazy
I didn’t know that?
@@prattfam13 When we are down to a few things to eat, I can imagine a cup of hot chocolate or Gatorade tasting like a real treat? 😊
@@laurenbrady1976 definitely hot chocolate 💖
I forage black raspberry leaves in spring, dry them and vacuum seal in a Mason jar. Black raspberry tea is good for sore throats.
Sassafras bark also.
Good to know! Do you pick the tender leaves or the dark green? TIA
@@wilsons_acres71 the dark green so it doesn't stop the plant from growing
Thank you! I'm gonna pick some before they turn in fall.
@@wilsons_acres71 be sure to let them dry before putting in the tea ball.
My mother had a recipe (which I have now) for what she called Russian Tea and she used it for sore throats. And believe me, when you have a sore throat, it is wonderful! It is 2 cups of Tang, 2/3 cup of instant tea with sugar and lemon and 1 package of lemonade or enough to make 1 quart. To this add 1/2 tsp of ground cloves mix up well. Store in an air tight container. To use, add 2 tsp to a mug of hot water. Thanks AP for all your videos. They are so informative!
Thank you! I’ve been looking for this recipe for years! My mom passed away and she used to make it when we were children!
I vacuum sealed a lot of individual packages of Kool aid, without the sugar, and store the sugar separately. I felt the shelf-life would be longer. We also have at least 1,000 tea bags vacuum sealed. If we can't have coffee then we must have tea!! Good idea on tilting the jar to keep down the dust!! Blessings.
Someone wrote that they pressur canned brewed coffee in mason jars. I guess if you did black coffee, it would work.
Hi Elizabeth, I wonder how that coffee tasted, several years later. Never heard of anyone doing that. Interesting!
@@JT-2012 well, one can buy cold coffee in jars. Maybe there is some info on internet.
Duh! Good point. Why didn't I think of that. 😊 I've seen them in the stores. Those have cream and sweeteners in them so the shelf-life is short. Without them it would be much longer.
My son likes the packets for more varieties of flavors so I will try that as well as my Crystal Light packets. I'm guessing vacuum packing would work for vitamin C powder too and add it later too. Thanks for the idea.
I love Tang. I remember acting like I was hot when I was little so my mom would make me some.
I'm gonna buy me some tomorrow. Memories ❣️
If anyone out there has a problem with vacuum sealing dry foods in jars. Take a coffee filter and cut it a little larger than the jar opening a place it over the product in the jar poking the edges down over and around the product. This method will keep dust or product from being sucked into your vacuum machine. A white paper towel will work as well.
thats exactly what i was thinking.
Forage for mint. It grows almost everywhere. There are a lot of varieties and it makes a great tea hot or cold. Good luck everyone!
This is very good advise. My daughter was a Marine. She said that after a while the water would get flat and hard to drink. They would look for ANYTHING to add flavour to the water. The MRE's had some flavouring but not enough. Thank you for reminding me to stock up on drink mixes.
Let’s not forget that you will need the Vitamin C. Regardless of wether or not it’s a health food. I would suggest a glass every day or every other day for the vitamin C in times of poverty.
That is a good idea
msgottaneedtoknow it’s not real vitamin c so it won’t register in the body anyway. Find organic oranges (with seeds) dehydrate the fruit and peels turn peels to powder real vitamin c.
Once a leo turned lion now judah any brand dehydrates you use?
It's cheaper to buy multivitamins.
My X husband was from South America. And was very, very poor. He showed me how they made a cup of tea. He took a tablespoon of sugar and burned it over an open flame untill it bubbled black. Then put it in hot water. And I was 😲 shocked. It really tasted like tea. In a SHTF, it's a 👍 trick. G-D Bless.
I just picked up a couple cans. I’m not crazy about plain water. I was wondering how to store them. Great video.
Condensed milk makes great homemade caramel, which is good to keep in mind when it turns tan.
In emergencies, kool aid adds extra calories. And it is good for bartering!
Thanks AP. I know it's crappy stuff but every once in a while I have a craving for it. I do think you are right that this could raise morale during a SHTF situation.
Thanks AP. Krogers usually put their canning lids on sale after the peak of canning season, sometimes earlier sometimes later. Another use for the drink mixes is in made from scratch cakes. Just substitute drink mix for all or part of the sugar. How much to use depends on personal taste. Start with about 1/4 to 1/2 of the sugar. I like about 1/3 in my cakes. The Tang makes a wonderful orange cake. I've never tried it in chocolate cake but I bet it would be good. Much Love
jan Penland I've used the sweetened jello powder before, too. 😃
My neighbor made a Tang pie once...it was pretty good!
Great idea
I had a Food Canning system sitting for months. I was skeptical about using it until watching your video. You explained it so well, now I'm going to get rolling. Thank you!!!!!
I'm going to try this. Learning so much and love your step by step teaching style!
After I pressure can I clean my lids and reuse them for all my dry storage. They're 4 bucks here too. I put my kids on a heating pad to warm them. It helps with the seal. This is exactly how I seal all my dehydrated veggies too
How do you get the kids to sit still long enough to seal them? Lol jk that's a good idea wouldn't have thought of the heating pad to get the seal gummy.
@@troybailey6268 YOU are too funny!
@@troybailey6268 lol
Oh I got such a visual of setting the kids on the heating pad...giggle giggle.
@@margaretharris65 Howfunny, I had to go back and re-read my comment I meant lids! That is too funny... that made my day.
Put the scoop in standing handle up before you put the last scoop of powder in your jar. The powder will fill in the scoop and not trap air.
great idea!
@@farmertrip Bravo !
I'm also a form believer in planting fruit trees as well. And berries. Not only outside but you can grow almost all fruit trees and bushes in pots in your house. You just have to treat them like bonsai plants. They produce fruit every year. My poor hubby tells me he feels like he lives in the rainforest. But he loves the fresh fruits they produce. It's more work but well worth it.
Great tutorial! I've started to use the reusable plastic lids when canning and so far, once you've "got the hang of it", they work great and you can use them many times. I have 2 jars just sitting for close to 2 yrs. now, one with canned chicken and one with dry canned powdered milk, just to see how long the seal lasts. So far, they seem to keep a seal just as well as regular metal lids. They are more expensive but if you buy a few boxes every once and awhile when you/I feel I can afford it, you'll slowly build up your stash of them. You can find them on both eBay and Amazon.
Anyhow, I've always reused most of my regular lids at least 2 or 3 times, both when dry canning as well as pressure canning. You have to be careful when removing them and as long as you don't have any dents that are so big that you can't "roll" the lid on the counter and make the lid round again, they'll work until the rubber lining starts to dry out. I also put the rings back on my canned jars. Only about one and a half turn, so that if I need more space, I can put a board over on top of those jars with the rings and stack another layer of jars, without having to worry about having a false seal and the food has gone bad without popping the seals. The rings that I put back on, never get close enough to touch the lids.
You are correct, sugar goes hard if you put an oxy absorber in with the sugar, so does salt. Have no idea why. Honey is another good storage item that will last forever if you have a good quality raw honey. Something else that many forget is to stock up on are all kinds of spices and lots of them. If push comes to shove and you have to eat something less than tasty..., spices can come in very handy... Plus will be highly sought after bartering items. Like you, we prep for whatever might happen and hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.
I mostly use the thick mylarbags that you can buy from the Mormon warehouse (search for them online) as they are much thicker than regular mylarbags, which I use for storing most of my dry goods, except for items like pasta that can poke holes in the bags when the oxy absorbers have done their job. When I dry can, I wrap foil around the jars to keep light out. I store all my mylarbag food items in big heavy duty rubber totes to keep the mice and other things out of them. We're off grid mid BC and we've been very happy during long winter storms when we've not been able to get down the mountain into town to shop. Keeping a well stocked pantry is something that just makes sense to all of us that live out here, as this is the life we have chosen to live. Keeping it well stocked for long term is good for everything from crop failures to grid down scenario.
This was very helpful and detailed for me as a newbie. Thanks!!!
Great videos always..
An upside down muffin wrapper on top of dry powders in jars will keep your vacuum sealer from sucking up dry powder dust when sealing jars
put painters tape on the lid for labeling works great
I hit the deal of the century on these. here in MN they are 7 bucks a container. but Cub foods had 3 flavors for .69!!!!!! I bought 100. I thought it was because they were discontinuing it, or out of date but nope, absolutely perfect!
Hi, your such a good provider for your family! Thank you for showing us what your doing.
I forgot to mention..i use 500ml mason jars for powders..not the larger ones (tends to harden or clump).
I have to say that I *love my Food Saver! If I had to choose one kitchen appliance, that would be it! There is so much more you can use it for besides food! Important documents, matches/candles/lighters, extra clothings/shoes/socks, even money! Anything that you don't want to get wet.
Thank you for this! I have some of these that I got a great deal & didn't know what to do w/ them. Now I do! Love all your knowledge. Dandelion tea is full vitamins & minerals. That's something I would probably look for in shtf.
Great idea. I believe the absorbic acid in there can meet your bodies vitamin C needs which will be hard to find in winter.
Thank you so much for all of your knowledge and help! I am so glad I found your channel!!
A.P..I dont see why this wouldn't keep for 20years as long as the seal isn't compromised.
Do you know how long powders would last in mylar with oxygen absobers?
Would the powders get hard? Help!
I learned something new today I didn’t know you could do this
Preppers recommend storing Tang to mix with powdered medication for children if needed. Also it does contain vitamin C.
I use an Alcohol Prep pad to take the marker off of lids or jar caps. Works pretty good.
This is a great prep. Catching up on your vids. Hello from 2022.
Awesome video AP! Definetly a good idea. I would like to store the Gatorade n Powerade as it will work like an Iv and maintain electrolytes. But I do store green and black tea n sugar. Will expand it though. I grow mints..lots of them..even chocolate mint, and lemon balm for teas. Guess I should grow stevia lol. Pine needle tea yes is yum and packed with vit. C. Thanks for sharing.
All natural teas are an acquired taste, and I think we should all give them a try dandelion, sassafras, Pine, omg so meany to pick from even substitute for coffees. Be safe an be well.
Pine needle tea
I fill a zip lock bag with drink mix and snip a corner off and fill the jars ... you can keep the zip lock bag tight against the jar to keep the dust down. Just remember to close off the open corner when you refill the bag... a clothes pin works great. 🙂
Good-mornin' Sunshine! How did you know what I was doing? I just finished vacuum sealing a case of pint jars of yellow peas and lentils as well as 3-quart jars of white rice. Looking forward to Mr. Kevin taking me to Winn-Dixie this afternoon to shop for meat. Having coffee and watching your video before I go straighten out the freezer for the meat. Have a blessed day with the family, Ma 2 watches you with smiles.
Have a great day Ma, be safe and God bless...
The Food Saver is a HUGE addition to make for anyone's preps. I vac seal a LOT of things like oatmeal, flour, etc.
Northwoods Cheryl, novice here do you do flour, oatmeal like he did the drink mix. Can up dry can pasta from a bag.
Northwoods Cheryl, novice here do you do flour, oatmeal like he did the drink mix. Can up dry can pasta from a bag.
@@thill6158 There are vacuum sealing add-ons to the name brand Food Savers that allow you to vac-seal canning jars of dry goods. I vac seal 1/2 gallon Ball Canning jars with oatmeal, dehydrated vegetables from my garden, etc. I put flour (BLEACHED WHITE) directly into 5 gallon food grade buckets or 80# size "Vittles Vault" pet food containers. All with GAMMA SEAL lids. Those lids have a gasket that keeps them impervious to moisture or bugs, etc. Those are NOT the same as the flat plastic lids you can buy for a buck or 2. Gamma lids have a screw in center for easy access. I get them on eBay. I also put sugar, rice, dry beans, etc into those types containers. Pasta I put in the 1/2 gallon glass canning jars and seal.
T Hill I pour the flour, sugar, rice, etc into the buckets, no bag needed. Plus, the bags those items come in, waste too much space in the storage container
I’ve done this with dried milk, hot coco mix, it works great.
I’m so glad you did this video. Bought my vacuum sealer used and it came with the jar sealer but was missing the instruction manual. Thank you! 🥰
Thank you for sharing. I had no idea you could even can this stuff!! Looooove your channel!!!!1!😊😊
Thank you. I have a vacuum sealer too but was not sure how the powdered goods would do. I learned how now from your video. I have Tang in storage but not a lot because they turn too fast in their own container. Niw I will dry can them too. I appreciate all you teach us.
Foraging: Make Sumac Tea/"Lemonade" if it grows in your area. There are lots of articles on how to make it for anyone interested. It's actually really good! I also store koolaid, lemonade and gatorade. I never thought of doing it this way as you have shown but definitely going to do this! Thank you!
Lots of sumac here.
Tea with/without lemon is good too. Also can drink hot.
Love this channel. All great videos. Thank you AP!!
I have a brake bleeder which is a hand pump I use that the seal my jars I also buy candy canes, hard candy and store them after Christmas best time to buy that stuff I have stored dried milk and I have store tea tea bags my goats are doing good the babies are growing like weeds and I will have goat milk and goat cheese soon keep up the good work God bless you
The hand pump works like a charm. I have one for power down situations mostly. But I keep it a work for sealing a few things that I don't cook very often at work.
Yes, I buy seasonal candy as well even chocolate when 75% off after holiday and use a jar and vacuum seal it. Works great. If the grid goes down I will have to have chocolate for my sanity lol.
@@audreynanapreps2543 Chocolate is a good barter item for the rest of us addicts that don't have it.
i HAVE GOTTEN A LOT OF GOOD IDEAS OFF YOUR RUclipsS. THANKS FOR THE HELP.
Thank you for taking the time to say that Jimmie, truly makes me feel good to hear that and I mean it. Thank you for spending some of your time here as it is much appreciated. Many Blessings to you and your Family...
LONG TIME PREPPER HERE. These get hard, pretty fast...
Great video! Thank you. I used to drink hot Tang or hot tea with Tang (“Russian Tea”?) 50 years ago in college. Kept me warm between 10 block walks to class in the winter 🥶 ❄️. Memories!
Sounds delicious.
Thanks again for the tips AP. Will do this will my stock pile.
I think it is a great idea. Especially if you have children.
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing. God Bless You and Your Family.
Aloha AP, hope you’re feeling better, those powder drinks are such a great idea. God Bless 🙏❄️🌺🌞🌴
I have a tip for you AP. Isopropyl alcohol will remove the black magic marker from your lids 😊
Debbie Gallagher , so will Mr. Clean magic erasers .
Fantastic idea! I am getting pink salt to put in jars. Really like all the information you share with us.
I did Himalyan salt in jars last week.
I remember drinking Tang as a child and feeling like I was an astronaut because it was taken into space. Hahahahaha! If its good for astronauts....its good for me!! Gracias AP!!!
Grape Koolaid ! The best! Sure will make water taste better! Tang is high in vit c!
When dry packing powdered stuff, get a coffee filter, using your wide mouth lid as a template and cut that shape out & place in the jar over your product. Then place the lid on the jar and vacuum seal. No worry about stuff getting sucked into your machine.
Thanks for this. I've hesitated getting one of the jar sealer attachments, but I think I'd use one.
AP OMG today in the recommended section of a YT page the thumbnail for this video hit me like a truck😲 !! This is a HOLE in my preps. I have hot chocolate, spiced apple cider ... mixes. But I Don't have any of these very basic drink mixes. Love ya man thanks for the heads up !.💚💙💖
I love your food saver. I wish I had 1 like yours. I have the original, 1 function version. I really should invest in a modern one. I love the way your able to seal so many different items in jars.
Variety in food and drink is great for morale no matter how plain or ordinary. I find I’m prepping food I normally wouldn’t eat but choose it for variety in hard times. People are not so fussy when food is scarce.
I have several of these but never thought about storing them.Great job
Appreciate you and your videos!
I store tea bags in jars. I have mylar bags of fruit punch, lemonade, tang, koolaid.& milk. Also drink mixes in individual serving packets. Hot cocoa, Liquid pouches of koolaid, & juice pouches. Cans of pineapple juice, plastic bottles of grape juice, cranberry juice, orange juice & water. My March Prep was 3 cases of Potatoes O'Brien, 1 case of blueberry muffin mix & 1 case of fudge brownie mix & a book about the great depression. It will be grains, flour & rice next. Even though I have plenty.
Wow Hoot. You've been a busy guy. Just last week i purchased dehydrated hash browns too. I like your idea of storing tea bags in jars. We drink a lot of tea so I think that will be my next prep. How many bags can you get in a qt jar? .
Karen Forgacs I've never counted them. Mine are in 1/2 gallon jars. I have a few teas that come in tins. Those I leave as is. I store the ones that comes in boxes. You can let me know how many you get in your jars.
Hoot, I think you have the makings of a party in your preps, we may have to come over and pay you a visit. Bless you buddy, hope you never have to use your preps...
The AP Clan is welcome here anytime. It will be a party for sure.
Excellent video. Thank you for explaining the process. I’m going to do this with my 4 c powdered drinks.
Hey that's a great idea and its super easy ! Thanks !
Very interesting upload.
You are very thorough !
Just found your site. Thanks for the tutorial on powdered drink mix. Can't find my life for food saver vacuum so got one co.omg on ebay. I'm a Prepper but mostly country raised. Had to get those veggies canned, make & jellies made & kill a hog before winter. Had all the supplies we needed for virus! Thinking ahead win the day!!!
Fyi... If you want to remove the Sharpie writing on the lid, take some alcohol on a paper towel and rub it off. Good Luck.
Spray with Lysol and wipe with a paper towel. It will remove permanent marker writing from lids and other nonporous surfaces.
Susie Q , I found that Mr. Clean magic eraser and even the generic brands can remove Sharpie markers. It’s also great at removing writings on the wall from kids.
Susan Schneider-Baker wish we could find Lysol spray now!!
Dry erase markers will also work to remove permanent marker. Just write over it and it disappears - like magic 💙
@@gferrel1017 dry erase markers are alcohol based and thats why it erases permanent marker.
Thank you for this great channel, and for this video :-). I always appreciate how thorough and careful you are with your videos.
One idea I would like to propose is using a folded basket coffee filter inserted on top of your powder in the jar before the lid goes down to keep the powder from getting sucked into the foodsaver mechanism.
I have stored teabags, etc. for many years to use both for medicine and for flavor, but IMO it is also a good idea to store things like these powdered drink mixes. I especially think electrolyte mixes are good to have around, particularly where there are extremes of weather.
One of the things I worry about the most with longterm food storage is appetite fatigue, because it's easy for people like me to fall into.
Having access to mixes like this can make all the difference, esp if there are children in the home to consider.
I also have a special "iron rations" box full of conventional goodies like hard candies, MRE snacks, chocolate, and a bottle of good brandy.
Most of my longterm food storage is Organic. All but a packet or two of my huge seed storage library is Heirloom. That's the best I could do for quality nutrition, after that whatever I can get will have to do, using Prayer as a seasoning as well.
Teas can be made from pinetree sap, honey, certain hardened tree resins (Make sure of which one/s are safe).
Almost anything can be made to taste good with lemon and honey, so get some Lemon Juice Powder so you'll have it on hand to flavor with.
In Tibet they use hot water with butter and salt for tea, in the morning and all day.
God Bless All of Us and our Loved Ones too
thanks AP!
Great idea. Must try this when I can get more jars.
AP, you can dehydrate lemons, cucumbers, strawberries, oranges and add a slice or 2 to plain water and if ya want add a bit of sugar.
I might the manual kit. I love it so much!!! Just bought Walmart lemonade and vfruit punch. I'm addicted. I bought the manual because i can't get my food saver to work. But it only takes a few pumps to work. It's fabulous.

I love the Tang and all those drinks still!! Most people enjoy all those on a hot summer day. In a grid down or SHTF situation to me it would be a good drink for energy and the Tang for Vitamin C . Enjoy your channel a bunch and your frugal advice and shopping at real stores. Oh yeah I also get powdered Gatorade good source of electrolytes if some one gets sick drink 1or 2 first sign of sickness really helps!!!!
Thank you for the kind words Jersey Stotler, Very happy that you get some value from the content. Many blessings to you and your family...
New to your channel; thanks for posting. I am on a fixed income... so buying on sale is a must for me. I take sugar and layer with thinly cut orange peels, lemon, lime, ginger, pineapple, or just about anything. When it is dry, I pull it out the fruit and grind it in a coffee grinder. Add it back into the sugar and. You have your drink. You can separately stored ground orange peals is great in cookies, cakes or add to hot tea. The sugar by itself you can do the same. I also take parchment paper and lay the peals in the oven to let dry or put into the broiler and let dry. They dry nicely without any extra energy used by oven or broiler. I used to by pork tenderloin for 99 cents a pound.... now it is 3.99 and up. I canned ham for 49 cents a pound and now it is 2 to 3 dollars a pound. The cans went from 18 ounces and filled with vegetable to the top to 10 ounces and half is water. You can also buy large bags of frozen vegetables and dry them in the dehydrator or oven on parchment paper on low heat. 1/4 cup is 1/2 cup of vegetable re-hydrated. Next you will want to dry can them.Buying overripe bananas for 20 cents or less from grocery store on sale and make banana bread. In wide-mouth mason jars. Take wide-mouth mason jar, spray with oil and flour, fill with batter a little over half, bake and put the lid on right after you take it out of the oven, put ring on and listen for the pop. You can do any cake, pound, angel food, chocolate, spice, fruit, or any cake... Their are people who do hot cookies with powdered coco with powdered sugar between them with a hot jar and; say this works great too. I love opening up in 90 degree weather a nice banana bread and slice it. You can have lemon cake with an extra jar of lemon sauce or other sauce to make a nice treat for your family. Coco mix is just coco and powdered sugar with powdered milk... make you own for pennies on the dollar. I am still trying to figure out the best formula. I am looking for powdered cream, they tell me this is the best for the coco mixes and cream soup mixes. You can use cheese cloth for coffee or tea in advance for your jars this will be great for a quick morning drink. Coffee beans store long term better if not ground but dried. Same with any grain. I am looking for a grinder second hand that doesn't require electricity. I received a PDF from first FEMA and then their was one that came from Home Land Security that told us to have two (2) years worth of food and water for our families. They basically told you how to do everything off grid and said they don't have the resources to help us if the grid goes down. I am leaning how to forge to survive. Raise bugs for feed with duckweed for fish and chickens. Duck weed has more protein then soy and dried tastes like celery. Can be dried and will give you a protein drink and feed your animals. Meat flavoring will feed your dogs. Dog food is mostly soy, corn and meat flavoring. Go to the feed store and buy bags of dried grains and you will be set. Stay away from anything that has antibiotics or additives. I remember the stores about the depression and it was terrible. My family have been working for the government since their was a government and they are all preparers for what is to come. They always say not if... but when it hits; their will never be enough time to prep.. I just thought for years they were just paranoid. When I started to study history.Looking at events unfolding and what is happening now with weather, solar flares, and dangers from outside terrorist it could happen. The math tells me it is more probable then ever in the history of the USA. So; everyone stay safe and be prepared. I live a mile from over 20,000 welfare housing and history always repeats itself. I don't believe that I will survive here if something happens. Stay safe everyone.
Excellent, I'm still learning.
Love your careful explanation.
?Another canner had sterilized her jars, to can rice. put them in the oven at 225 for 1 1/2 hours to kill any larve and eggs. Freaked me out.
You can also use a manual break bleeder (yes automotive) if you don’t have a food saver machine. Just buy the food saver lid attachment. Also is you have a problem with the powder getting up in your tube lay a piece of clean fabric inside the jar on top of the powder before putting the lid on.
Those breaker bleaders kill my hands and wrist so I bought a food saver !
My dry canning of powders worked well..4 year old stock is still kid approved. I did not use absorbers for half...cant notice the difference. I use a food saver with a brake line manual pump..works great. On a side note..i haven't had good results with dry canning powdered garlic. Maybe some out-gassing? My garlic salt has worked well. Go figure. I also dry can the vehicle food. It seems to really extend the life with the temperature extremes. I have several months before i check buried caches..will be educational.
Those results will be interesting.
Can I do powders in mylar with 02 absorbers or would it get hard?
How do we do powders in mylar? Is it like sugar?
Love your videos ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
Water gets boring after a while. This would be a treat. I hadn’t thought about it. Thanks.
I think you had a good idea I'm going to get mine done
What a difference a year makes! I just paid $12.99 for a regular size box of wide mouth canning lids!!!!
Thank you so much,
Thank you so much I just got 4 at market but I didnt no how to store them and now I know 🙂
Your voice is so soothing! I hoard hot chocolate like others hoard coffee this would be a good long term way too put some up!!
I bought up a variety of flavors of hot cocoa, on sale, from Augason Farms. They come in cans, for long term storage. Augason puts them on sale when winter ends.
@@allsmiles2938 I have over 350 can's/buckets of Augason's for long term storage but prefer the taste & texture of my own dehydrated vegetables. Augason vegetables are diced very tiny! As for TVP, order one can and try it first. Many don't like it. I've also stocked milk, eggs, butter, and baking products. I've never liked milk so I only bought it for baking, etc. & for neighbor kids, in case of SHTF. I've read that the milk is good cold, with a little vanilla and sugar added. The potato gems, for mashed potatoes, are really good. They can also be used in bread making.
Putting the scoopers in is a good idea! I think I would have forgotten to do that.
Those powdered drinks are sooo good when I'm backpacking and only have filtered water. (Weight is an issue so the small packets are perfect). I can totally appreciate how a treat like Tang or Kool Aid would be a moral boost in a situation.
I think you can use finger nail polish remover to rub off your old writing off your lids so you can rewrite the new contents on your lids. Going to try it soon myself..
I’ve never dried canned but it seems to work pretty good for a lot of things. Great vid.
Hello, R.P. congratulations on the baby, Hope you are doing well. Many blessings to you and your family..
Thanks for this didn’t know how this was done thanks once again
