Thank you for the video . How does one go about after taking floor wood samples to Sherman Williams . I am not interested in getting the rest of my furniture done cavy matched to hardwood floor color, but a darker shaded than my wood floor. Thank you
What colour undertones would you recommend to match a light Greige siding? We are using balboa mist (Ben Moore) as our exterior paint and I’m finding it hard to pick a good wood tone to go on our fir posts!
I just saw your video. So informative, thank you. We have hickory cabinets and I love the bigger wood piece you have there. We have an oak table. But they both have that honey orangish look to it which I am tired of. What is the color stain on the bigger piece of wood that you have. And would you suggest a satin finish rather than a matte finish on cabinets and the table?
hi there, im new on all of this. we are buying unfinished cabinets made of birchwood. I am looking for a wood stain. Whats the difference between he wood stain and the flat sealer. Should I just put the wood stain and then the flat sealer. Is it how it works? Or just the wood stain or just the sealer. I am sorry I got confused on how to use these two. Thanks a lot.
Great video! I am doing some modern exterior and interior slats from clear Doug Fir and can't seem to find the right look. Tried many store samples but it's making the Doug Fir either orange or yellow. My main goal is to get a rich blonde look. What do you recommend? Also need to do White Oak stair treads and like the look of the cabinets in your video. Recommendations would be great. Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much! It was a custom stain, but we typically tell people to ask for a neutral stain that has just a drop of black and a drop of white to balance out the undertones (on natural oak).
What did you do to protect/seal the doors? That is the problem I’m having right now- I want to sand down the cabinets and seen them a very light natural wood color but I don’t know what to seal it with. I do not want it shiny or plastic looking just very natural
I’m trying to achieve a light grey cabinet stain with general finish on white maple. I’m trying to match a distressed grey wood tile that’s in the same room. Any recommendations for colors you’ve worked with?
Hi, Could you please help me pick the stain for red oak floors. I currently have mahogany stain on it which I will be taking off (sanding) next week. I am trying to find something in taup range, not cold grey and not brown, something in between not too dark either. Thank you!
Hi there! Red oak is going to pull red once it is sealed - even with a clear coat. One way to reduce the redness is to either apply a white wash stain prior to your other stain or to bleach it. There is a special bleach for wood you can find I think Clorox makes it. Then you can go over it with your desired stain color and treat it more like a white oak. Hope that helps!
@@BoxwoodAvenueHi, what stain you’ll use or like after applying the white wash stain on red oak floors, I’m struggling finding the right stain . I’ll like something like @larielnew495 perfectly described a taupe color between brown and gray . Please and thank you!
I'm struggling because we have just put in a hurricane strength fiberglass front door. I wanted it to look like it is all rustic wood. Brevard windows and doors installed trim that is painted. I am not happy right now. I cannot figure out how I am going to make this look like a rustic wood front door. Help
Oh my gosh, this is so useful! When we bought our place in Paris, we sanded down the beautiful original 1863 oak herringbone floors and applied a colorless varnish. They turned orange! I cried for a week. :(
Hi there, I just found your channel and I love your style! My husband and I are in the process of building a home and I would love more interior and exterior design videos. What is that large sample of flooring? Its beautiful! What is your perfect white for wall color? Thanks!
HI Anna, I am so sorry I just saw your comment! Thank you so much and congratulations! The flooring is called "Luxe Farmhouse Wide Plank" by Armstrong flooring. Try Venetian Oak by Abbey as well - I really like it. I love Simply White or Pure White. Swiss Coffee or Chantilly Lace are also great options! xo
Someone is taking the time to share helpful information which you want, but you can't cope with the "hectic" noise. Oh my God. WTF is wrong with people nowadays? How do you even get through life as an adult bring this fragile?
Hello! The doors in my pantry are old fence boards, naturally weathered by the sun. The doors to my patio are mahogany wood and are sealed without a stain. :)
Agree, blah blah and no examples, it's informative but there's no need to be standing up just talking, showing the job done it's a lot more practical and useful.
This is the most insightful video I have watched on wood staining. Thank you so much Chloe 😊
Super helpful as I tackle trying to match stains on two pieces of furniture. Thanks!
You are so welcome!
Would you mind sharing what stain is on your doors? They’re so pretty! I love your style!
I love her door color as well.
She rarely answers questions
Man you saved my life! I been looking for ways to color match my flooring to my stair treads and beams in the ceiling! Thank you!
Very nice tutorial. I’ve been building and staining cabinets for 10 years and you’re very knowledgeable job well done!

So much great information here. Stain is tricky and you answered many of my questions talking about the undertones.

This is very helpful! You answered all the questions I had. Thank you!
This video was put together so well! Can’t wait for more !!
It was indeed. Except that the background noise at the end. Very distracting when trying to hear her. T
Thanks for sharing!
What stain did you use for your door?

I'm so happy I found this video. Very informative and helpful. Redoing our kitchen cabinets and definitely going to sherwin williams 🤩
If I want my Cabinet maker to stain my cabinets a “natural wood” What kind of wood would that be and what stain?” Thank you!
I wanna know too.
What’s the popular color of stain for white oak floors in a kitchen? All white cabinets . Need Duraseal or minwax.
So test the stains :) Got it
Thank you for sharing! How can you identify what type of wood you’re working with?
Hi! The wood piece with the stain sample behind the flooring swatch is white oak.
I’m obsessed with “the butternut” stain you’ve used in your blog. How can I create something similar?
Thank you so much! It was a custom stain, but we typically tell people to ask for a neutral stain that has just a drop of black and a drop of white to balance out the undertones (on natural oak).
The color I’m trying to match is orange ish, on pine.
If you have beams that were stained and are pretty orange, how could I tone that orange down? Apparently it’s been sealed already.

You will want to use a matte top coat by general finish or something similar. Thanks!!
Great tips! Thank you
this was extremely informative! Thank u!!!!
Nice to meet you.
Can I ask what colour stain you have on your beautiful door at the back right
Thank you this was very informative . Thank you I subscribed
Thank you for sharing - really inspiring.
Hi, my wife really loves your nail color :) and she's asking what kind is it.
it looks like OPI Red.

Oh I just let out an audible gasp for you, I would have cried if I were in your shoes too! Were you able to make it work, or did you re-sand?
Over years the orange faded, but the floors never regained their stately patina. Ugh.

What stain would look close to that center floor wood in this video? It’s so pretty and would love our bed frame to be that color.
What is the difference between white oak and just oak? I think I have regular oak in my kitchen
There’s white oak, red oak, and golden oak, no such thing as regular oak.
Are your front doors white ash
For the love of god, I am not able to see the undertones of wood
What was the color of the dark stain at 3:27?
Hi! I am sorry it's not something I found available - they made it for me at the cabinet shop I use :)
I wanted to finish the video but the background noise was hectic.

What stain color is your doors?

I will try to do it with Woodglut plans.
I really like the woodglut plans.
To much talking. Show the tones as you talk so people can see them .
Give better description of products

I did it too. This is what I used Woodprix designs for
