Hello these are my 12 different rices i made for bspwm in Arch Linux, you can switch between rices on the fly with the rice selector menu.
In the rices i use bspwm, polybar, rofi, picom, eww, termite, mpd, and other dependencies. If you can install my setup, pls follow instructions section on the provided github repo.
some features you can find inm the rices:
Change RICE on the fly: 12 different Rices now!.
Rice Selector: Alt + Space bar to launch it.
Random wallpaper: Every time you switch between rices or reload bspwm with super + alt + r a new wallpaper is set depending on the rice you are on.
Super + Alt + w changes bethween different wallpapers in the actual rice.
Hide / Unhide Bar: (Polybar)
Change transparency on the fly: Increase and decrease transparency in focused or selected window.

Hey first of all I wanted to thank you for all the hard work you must have put into this! I do have some small issue that I can't seem to figure out though. Opening a terminal has a very strange delay associated with it. I press super+enter to open the terminal and there is about a 5 or 6 second delay before the terminal actualy opens. Everything else is very quick and fast. Also this is on a fairly new Dell Inspiron with 32g of ram and a pretty zippy intel I-7 on a fresh Arch Install. I also loaded it up in a VM to test what could be causing and it has the same delay in the VM... Anyways I'd love your input on this and thanks again for what you do!
Once terminal is opened, could you write this "alacritty -vv" to open another terminal and check if there are errors in the output.

hey, i've tried your dotfiles (first time using bspwm with first time arch linux install lol) , tbh this is the best I've ever seen so far!. But there's a feature i have in my mind. Adding animations for different events like wallpaper transition animation, minimize maximize animation , resiize animation, adding acrylic background for files explorer and is possible, for terminal. Will try my best ricing this further even though am new to this :)
Thanks, you can install a picom fork to do that, actually the best for animations is ftlabs-picom.

I am somewhat of a begineer to ricing I have only cloned & tweaked rices of other people. I desparately want to know how you made the rice switcher & how did you make the install script coz for the first time I ran a script & everything worked & looked exactly like in your video
Rice switcher and riceinstaller are basically bash scripts, im pretty sure you need to leran some bash scripting to make something like that.

Mis dotfiles no modifican aspectos importantes o vitales como el login manager, ese usa el que a ti te guste, la instalacion del login manager depende del usuario no de mis dotfiles, yo uso lightdm o xinitrc.
Me encanto Pamela se puede instalar en Ubuntu ?. Solo ese tema .. por cierto están increíbles 👌🏼 excelente gran trabajo 👏🏼

Es un script bash el cual puedes encontrar en home/.local/bin y todos los ascii arts están en home/.local/share/asciiart/
El script se invoca desde el archivo .zshrc la última línea.

Hey nice video man. I just started using BSPWM today, I got a full rice but wasn't pleased with it, your rice is on a whole another level. Is there any chance the installer script might break, thanks a lot though for the rice, king.
Hello, by breaking, do you mean that it doesn't work totally or partially? If you open it, you will notice that they are only commands to Copy or Move directories. You can also always move directories manually.
And it only works with arch and arch based distros
@@LEBR27 The script worked very well . Only problem I'm facing is the wallpapers don't fit the whole screen, alt+space doesn't work until I do super+space open an app and close it. And one more thing, it could be because I'm not the smartest, but changing the sxhkdrc for my keybind doesn't work. Also, it's a bit laggy, I don't think it's the polybar, do you think I could remove picom?

@@karido4974 First of all, remember to refresh sxhkdrc after tou make changes, you do it with "super + escape" keys (remember in my rice super key is windows key)
Then could you confirm that these files have execution permission and you have the owner with read and write permissions.
~/.config/bspwm/bspwmrc
~/.config/bspwm/scripts/ all the scripts in this dir must have that permission. except RiceSelector.rasi
i guess you are on emilia rice, if not, go that rice plis and open a terminal paste and execute this command;
rofi -no-lazy-grab -show drun -theme $HOME/.config/bspwm/rices/$RICETHEME/launcher.rasi
that must launch rofi. if not problably permissions problem, or check what error outputs.

Y sabes que fallo? El script hace todo solo instala paquetes y copia directorios. Tal vez tuviste la mala suerte de que hoy muchos están teniendo problemas con sus actualizaciones, python 3.11 arribo a los repos oficiales y muchos están reportando problemas con su sistema.

a mi me pasa algo raro cuando instalo los temas , al cambiar de workspace con super + 1,2,3 no funciona , tengo que mantener apretado super + ctrl 1,2,3 ¿a que se debe este problema? ya revise el archivo bspwrc y el sxhdk y no se ve nada raro.
You have great themes! Could you make a tutorial "how to install your theme"? I installed it, but your hotkey config is confusing for noobs like me. Also, after I installed your files, the widgets didn't work for me and I couldn't change the theme. Also the terminal emulator didn't work. It's quite hard for me to figure this out. I installed using your tutorial in github. But I had problems that I wrote above.
Could you pls open an issue in the git repo, there i can follow your problems better. Be sure you have all dependencies.

How do I use a lockscreen with this ?
There is already a lockscreen, press ctrl + super + alt + l to launch lockscreen, of course you can change it for whathever app you want.
Bro, una duda. Que programa usas para el theme switcher? O si es diseño propio, se puede usar?
Te explico por que la pregunta jaja. Vengo hace poco de Windows y allá está el CTRL + P para elegir si un monitor, 2, o cual de los 2, extender, etc y necesito que con SXHKD aprete CTRL + P y que me abra el switch para correr un script que me haga el trabajo (Que tendré que escribir, logicamente). Desde ya, gracias y muy hermosos diseños

Para el theme switcher o el menu para elegir wallpaper, uso rofi, en la carpeta .../bspwm/scripts esta el escript riceselector y el riceselector.rasi que este es el css, de ahi puedes basarte, claro que los puedes usar.
cuando tengas tu script y el diseño, solo agrega tu script a una combinacion de teclas en sxhkdrc y listo, parece dificil pero esta sencillo.

@@LEBR27 Claro, mi idea es personalizar un menú de Rofi con las 4 opciones que necesito, darle click y me ejecute los scripts correspondientes, más que nada para que eso se haga con simplemente "ctrl + p" jaja. Ya veré como le hago
@@KATalyzt_ usa pipes para darle la opciones al rofi, una vez tengas la selección deseada usa esas opciones dentro de un case, es lo que se me ocurre de una.

In ~/.config/bspwm/rices inside all rices there is a termiterc file, there u can change the font.
Be sure to install all fonts.

you are probably forgetting some font.
or probably the window is to small for your resolution, try make it bigger

Clona el repositorio una vez dentro ve a misc/firefox/ y copia el directorio chrome y el archivo user.js dentro de la carpeta de perfil de firefox.

If you already in zsh copy the .zshrc file from ~/dotfiles/home/.zshrc to your home.
If not write chsh -s /usr/bin/zsh

open a terminal, and write "which eww" it must show you /usr/bin/eww.
If not, then install eww. "yay -S eww"
you are done, reload theme.

Yes yes, thats an eww developing bug, compiling eww from aur or directly from eww page, fails, thats why bar doesnt load, i let you a link with my eww binary compiled, just drop it in /usr/bin/

Intenta probando otros dotfiles más sencillos, cuando aprendas más haz los tuyos propios, asi es la manera de aprender, después ya puedes probar otrqs cosas.
No es que mis dotfiles sean difíciles pero si cambio rutas, directorios etc etc, entonces inicia con lo default.

@@resetxd5684 se puede instalar en cualquier distro, solo hay que cambiar uno que otro nombres de los paquetes dependencias, por que se llaman diferente en algunas distros.

No, tendrias que darme mas detalles. fijate si en ~/.config/ tienes la carpeta bspwm, alacritty.

I think that this is not related to my themes. It could be many things, your wifi driver the method you use to connect, whether it is networkmanager or another, etc.

Hola oye una pregunta, como puedo cambiar la configuracion de oh-my-zsh sin cargarme toda la configuracion que hiciste, es que a la hora de usar git no me aparace todo eso de la rama y el status,
Solo edita el fichero .zshrc, o borra el mio y reestablece el tuyo.

@@phantomlord3801 ah ya, pues mira hay varias guias de como agregar la funcion de git al prompt. De hecho esta en mis planes hacerlo desde hace tiempo pero no he tenido tiempo.
La razón de que no esté es que siempre he pensado y sentido qué oh my zsh esta sobresaturado y hace muy pesado el zsh. Por eso mi configuración es sin oh my zsh con dos de los plugins más usados y me falto agregar git. Pero como te digo es fácil no creo que te de problemas basta con buscar "add git to zsh prompt" y te saldrán muchos resultados.

most people on unixporn share their dotfiles, at least from what I've seen. As for mine, you have them in the description. 🙂
