2,000 Weightless Ping Pong Balls with Science Bob
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 сен 2010
- Science Bob and 30 other teachers launched 2,000 ping pong balls in zero gravity as part of Northrup Grumman Foundation's Weightless Flights of Discovery program. Also joining us was Kerry Sanders of the Today Show. Weightless flight is accomplished by flying in parabolas in reserved airspace aboard a modified 727 aircraft. Each weightless experience lasts about 30 seconds.

0:40 "where was the warning?!" LOL
thats what I was gonna say
Kitsune91 O_O SMASH PLAYER SPOTTED

My 8th grade science teacher and another 8th grade teacher in my school where on that plant with science bob. He said that he would talk to anyone
Who's favorite part was when they all crashed to the ground?
"GIVE US A WARNING"
+Austin Shane Yes completely disproved flat earth.
+Watsonisawesome yeah lol
Chris C. If you fly an airplane to the edge of Flat Earth, you will wraparound and appear at the other edge. I've seen wrapping happen in video games so it must be true.

0:37 THAT DUDE HIT HIS HEAD ON THE CEILING IM CRYING 😂😂🤣🤣
0:40 "Where was the warning?" LMFAO
Next time white flour.
+Milano Walter cocaine would be nice
Yeah
Hahahaha "give us a warning!"
2021???
Looks like in a scifi spaceship when somone turns the "Gravity Generator" back on after a outage :D
Lmao
(Add the alarms blaring and red lights illuminating, generator turns back on, they all fall down, normal lights flicker back on with a very specific sci-fi generator starting sound)
Where is the warning???
More on the way - I promise!
Ok
Bob, this was awesome!!!
This is my heaven, this is where I want to be forever when I die.
0:40 "Give us the warning" lol
This was great! Loved it!
@Ferix On the parabolas during the flight, we usually got a "Feet down" warning to tell us that gravity was on its way. On this final parabola, instead of coming in smooth, the gravity returned quickly, before we could get the warning....looked cool, though.
I love the end part with the guy that says, "Oh! Give us a warning!" =)
@ScienceBob That's awesome! I can't wait to see them,love your videos! :)
That looks like the most fun anyone could ever have ever!
Northrop Grumman came to my school is was awesome!
Be happy for them!
that was awesome science bob XD
That looks like really fun
AWESOME !
AWESOME !!
@HabbowScams You're right it was 2016. That was because the ping pong balls were packaged 144 in each bag and the bags had to stay sealed before the experiment for security reasons.
thats fantastic!!
"Where was the warning?"
lol that guy
More ping pong balls please!
Two of my teachers were on that! So cool!
that looks so fun!!!
Imagine how much fun space ball pits would be!
Thanks for the clarification....
that looks soo fun!!!!!!
Good vid!
Science Bob, you are one cool dude man :)
Was I really in ZERO GRAVITY?? While the effect was similar to a gravity-free environment, I was actually in FREE FALL, not zero gravity. The plane flies a parabolic arc and basically travels downward at the same rate that we would be falling if we were outside the plane. This allowed us to experience the EFFECT of zero gravity. PS - It's a lot of fun!
that would have been so much fun
For the crew, who would do that so often the novelty would soon wear off, watching people drop out of the air with absolutely no warning is probably one of the most enjoyable parts of their job. Apart from all the other awesome parts, that is...
I love how one guy shouted: "Should have given a warning!"
Awesome!! Awesome!! This is Great! WOAH!!! WHERE WAS THE WARNING!
Thats Fun can you tell me where is that place
is there anyway to get a chance to do this for myself and experience the effect of zero gravity?
love the guy who yells "give us a warning" lol
i love how half the ping pong balls were out before he finished counting down
Song is Blue Danube Waltz
omg that was AWESOME! to the max. :D
How long does the whole trip last?
time to pick 'em all up!
I WANNA TRY!!
I love that moment when music stops and everyone falls at the same time
lol
My faith in humanity has been restored. Thank you guys.
I know everyone's favorite part seems to be "where was the warning?" but i died laughing right away at that failed countdown attempt lol Balls hitting him in the face already "In 3...2...1!!!"
0:40 and 1:10 "where was the warning?" same voice same tone? o.O
Same guy/moment of degravitation, just a different camera angle.
ok... lol, im blind aparently
lol kool story bro.
Kivencito second camera angel 0:42
Oh my god! I so want to do that!
When did they do this?
(Side-note, depending upon that: Is it not possible to get anything this cool in better than 480p? :( )
AWESOME lol i want to do that!
I've been watching a couple videos on this, I was wondering, would you call what people on the ISS experience zero-gravity or free fall? Since they're also falling, but falling in such a way that they are orbiting the earth and experiencing the effect of zero gravity even though most of Earth's gravity is still affecting them. :)
why you no make more!?
ohhhhh yes, the good old days
@ScienceBob my science teacher kelly wolf was on there
i am soo~~~~ooo jealous right now! and i know i'm not alone.
How did you modified
LOL I love how they all fall and the guys like GIVE US A WARNING LOLOLOLOL
This is purely fun ^_^!!!!!!
Wish I could do that with you too :P!
All teachers should be given this opportunity paid in full by the government. Also, would LOVE to see the camera angel inside the cockpit :)
this is one of those things that sounds more interesting than it really is
I love how everyone says "Aw..." at the same time.
And to think we could only imagine doing something like this before.
@ScienceBob why couldnt you open them did you not want someone to trip before hand
That might have been better in my opinion if there wasn't so many people, but still very entertaining nice work.
i wanna do this too
cool
I seen two of my teachers!!
Sorry, hate to be technical but it's in an aeroplane that flies up and down. When it flies down, you get temporary near weightlessness. I would love to go in it too.
Haha, I bet the driver in the cockpit is having fun!
I think SciShow or Hybrid Librarian did a video that explains very clearly how orbits work that you're "falling" forward so fast that you just keep circling the earth indefinitely. If you just went straight up and stopped, you'd fall back down again (and make a big crater when you hit).
I'd pay real money to be in one of those aircrafts!! :3
When they crashed on the ground that was funny I LMAO
How come you don't make videos anymore Bob?
what are the soundtracks they used ?
I seriously would LOVE to go in an anti-gravity tunnel like that, it must be awsome
David Archuleta's song Zero Gravity would of been perfect with this video, looks like fun!
Second song is Sleeping Beauty Waltz
@bluenessaja yep i didnt know the english word for it, and the fact it moves on a parabola without acceleration doesn't change the fact that this is a waste of energy. Sorry if i misunderstood you, my english isnt quite professional
"COULD OF USED A WARNING" I fucking lost it XD
"I need some help!"
LOL
I love how he started saying 2000 pingpong balls in 3...
Then they all tossed them as soon as he started the countdown because they couldn't wait LOL!!!
Tnoos91 is correct the plane is in a vertical dive at a speed of 125 MPH causing the passengers to free fall not it feels like 0Gs because the air around them is moving with them
@Commenter533 Easiest way is to work for an aircraft manufacturer as a structural engineer or structural analyst. Basically, it isn't a low-grav plane. What makes them weightless is the downward angle and speed at which the plane is flying. Usually, when people (like Boeing) test their new aircraft, they do stress tests, and pitch the plane up and down, going between 0 G's and 2.5 G's (or 2.5 times normal gravity) in quick sucession. RUclips "747-8F rollercoaster" :)
Makes much more sense now...
Just an interesting fact: They're not experiencing zero gravity, they're experiencing zero g-force. Even in the international space station the astronauts experience around 90% of the gravity we experience on the surface of the Earth. The I.S.S. is constantly falling towards the Earth, and so is that 727, but they're traveling so quickly that the Earth moves away from them as quickly as they fall towards it, so it creates the illusion of zero gravity. Same as the Superman ride at Six Flags :D
I saw you in a field trip whit el sol you did tree expitements
WOW how did they fly in a airowplane or space ship how could ping pong balls could carry people so cool!?
WOAH!!
FOR SCIENCE!
:O I WANT TO FLY!!!
All closed two-body orbital paths are ellipses. If the Earth were flat, the gravitational field lines would be parallel, the velocity component parallel to the ground would be constant, and you would get a parabola. The only thing stopping the aircraft from making a complete eliipse around the Earth's centre of mass is its rather unyielding surface.
For short distances parabolic curves are a reasonable approximation, but true parabolic orbits are open.
SCIENCE BOB PLEASE LET ME USE THIS FOR MY DOCUMENTARY ON CREATIVITY!!! TO SAVE CREATIVE S.T.E.A.M PROGRAMS IN EDUCATION
What's the name of the song used?
I love it when they fall.
cool :)
