  • Hi everybody, Welcome to my review of the Hanwei/Tinker Great Sword of War. This sword and the Hanwei/Tinker line itself have been around for many years and in that time have set the bar of performance and expectation regarding budget European Medieval Swords. So how does this sword compare to other War Swords and Longswords on the market? Well stay tuned and we'll find out.

Thanks for this great review! I have been looking at this sword for several years, but never quite got around to picking one up. I think the early ones, like your bastard sword, had some QC issues which I saw at the time. This might get me to nabbing one. Always enjoy your reviews!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it and that you support the channel! Yea I think recently they've stepped I up their general QC (quality control) and are much more consistent with the line. Let me know if you get one and how it is!

Nice review!I have that sword and i surely love it!It fits the bill for the early longsword style swords (like XIIa & XIII) that could also be inside the timeframe of the Crusades. And that is something of an advise if i may: instead of repeating things like pommel and blade typology how about adding a few historical information concerning some battles that these types of swords could have been used, which warriors would have used them ,etc.Keep up the nice work you are doing.Cheers from Greece...!

Pretty sure I did on this one... well damn guess I didn't. I was more focused on the blade geometry I guess this review lol. Then again these H/T, though European Medieval sword replicas aren't supposed to be specifically historically accurate or based on any actual original sword. Maybe thats why I focused more on the blade geometry and less on wartime deviations this review. But yea the XIIIa was very popular and you could say was probably used in pretty much every 13th centruy european war from the later crusades to even the Anglo-Scottish wars of independence! Thanks for the feedback and for watching!

I have that sword my only issue, wish the handle 2 or 3 inches longer

Really? Damn, I found it almost a little too long for the blade length ratio. But I can see how one could like a longer handle for more leverage. You should check out the short I recently posted on the Danish Type XVIIIe Great Sword, now that is a long handle!
