Homeless and downtrodden? Once I retired from the Army back in 2000 jeans and t-shirts were my daily wear...and trust me I wasn't downtrodden - I was enjoying a carefree life! Traveling the country and my souvenirs have been t-shirts.
@John (Salty) "Typically, when addressing an audience, you take into consideration the target group you're talking to. The majority of folks in The Villages wear T shirts every day. Jerry & LInda are simply playing back to their audience wearing the same apparel as them. Shaking my head how so many people simply like to complain and will find everything and anything to do so. The amount of knowledge and information Jerry & Linda share with us each week is nothing short of amazing and has been life changing for many of us. If you're focused on the T shirts, you're really missing the whole point."
The tiny holes in Linda’s shirt is actually from being either washed or dried with clothing that has a zipper. I’ve had this happen to me a number of times. Hope that helps. Love ya guys and the late gizmo.
My mother-in-law loved living in The Villages. Her first home in The Villages was a manufactured home near a small lake. She then moved to a larger home. We really enjoyed visiting her there.
The 900 acres in Lake County is shown on 4/03/23 video of Gold Wingnut productions (minute 24:11) and he says it is about 1 1/2 miles from the latest Villages location.
Small World: We chatted someone up near Springfield Mass. When we mentioned TV he said, "I'm a big Jerry and Linda fan- I watch every show". Well Done!
So happy I stumbled upon your videos! They are a delight! Love seeing people living their best life. I am 39 (aka elder millennial) and really starting to ponder what I’d like to in retirement along with my husband and after my 12 year old daughter leaves the nest. It’ll be hard to transition but your videos make me happy and hopeful. Thanks for the content!
@Andrea me too 😂 and I don't even plan on ever moving away from home. I really just got so interested in all of it that now I'm watching bc I want to keep up with what's going on in the villages 😂
Hi, that video of Rocky at Brownwood you showed was not the 24th Anniversary Show. That was on Saturday and they had the streets around the square blocked off and full of extra chairs. It was crowded, but doable. Lots Of spring break crowds lately.
I totally remember my brother ordering the sea monkeys. I believe that they are some type of shrimp, at least that is what I remember my mother telling me. We were so excited but they didn't live very long.
To the frozen pipes dude. I live in NE Florida and we get many more sub freezing, and sometimes light snow, than TV. I have never had frozen or burst pipes in 68 years. We did not cover pipes and only left a trickle of water in a bathroom faucet.
Just signed our contract 👍🏻 We are officially VILLAGERS (well, after we Close first week of May) 🙄 Bought a home in Newell (near MickeyLee pitch & putt) Can’t wait for the Southern Oaks bridge and Eastport town square to be finished. Came down for a “lifestyle visit” near Brownwood Paddock Square … 4 days later, we’re in. Gotta tell you … your videos have been a HUGE influence on our decision. Thank you 🙏🏻 We’ll see you when we get there 😏
I’d love to hear your experience through the lifestyle visit, looking for right place and what influenced you and costs along the way? Good to hear as much as possible seen as we have thoughts of moving there too.
@@allisonm6622 We highly recommend the lifestyle visit; and the 7-day, not the shorter 3- or 4- day lifestyle visit. Talked to some that did the shorter one, and they plan to RENT a place for several months next winter. In our case, we got to the Villages two days early (so as to not risk missing any of the lifestyle visit). Stayed in a hotel near Spanish Springs and looked at several open houses in the older sections, including several “turn key” properties (selling with all furnishings). By the time the lifestyle visit started we had pretty much decided on the southern area, either “between the 6’s” (between 466 & 466A) or south of 44. We were assigned a coordinator that placed us in a Courtyard Villa near Brownwood (incl golf cart and bicycles). Also assigned a Villages Sales Agent (who was just phenomenal, not pushy, listened to what we wanted and helped narrow down our search). After 2 more days of house hunting (open houses listed in the newspaper, the Daily Sun, daily), and having looked at 20-25 houses, we pretty much eliminated the older section. Although more mature, and most have little or no bond (the bond is a biggie to some people; it’s typically 30 years on a new home and pays for the infrastructure), we thought the older homes were over-priced, as the owner wanted to make a profit, and after 2 or 3 owners, maybe 2 or 3 bumps in price. Plus, many were dated (paint choices, wallpaper, WAY TOO MUCH furniture, etc). After focusing on newer homes (new to 5 years old) we were considering a Patio Villa (of which there are many), but our Agent suggested we look at Designer homes. I thought they were outside our price point, but found there were some in the $300k range. I, personally, didn’t care for the Courtyard Villa of the lifestyle visit … too big, outside our budget, and although a big yard, I didn’t care for the wall in the back (nothing to look at from our lanai). Some prefer the privacy, but … and you will pay a sizable premium (upwards of $150k just for the lot) if you overlook a nature preserve, water (like a retention pond) or a golf course. We narrowed it down to two. Went to both with our Agent who answered all our questions. We chose a house with a view of Meggison Rd and the walking/bike path next to it. I actually enjoy saying “good morning” to people walking by our lanai in the morning. Others would prefer more privacy. We chose the house we liked (already built) and spent the last few days enjoying the “lifestyle” (golf cart rides, restaurants, music at the squares, quite a few Rec centers, played some golf, etc. (some play time). Glad we had some time to ENJOY ourselves, and not spending it all “house hunting”. We rented a truck a month later and drove back down from Illinois for the closing. They said we could have closed from up north, but we wanted to go down and move some basics into our new home. Glad we did, the Villages made the closing a wonderful experience (a celebration). And we already met several nice neighbors (which may be the biggest attraction of the Villages … the people). Hope that helps … feel free to ask if you have any other questions.
My husband and I are far from retiring (42&48), plus a 13 & 7 yo, but I am fascinated by your videos and have been binging them all recently. I just adore the two of you, Gizmo, your banter, wit and adventures. We hope to eventually retire to TV as soon as we can. Thank you for all of your videos and hard work editing them for all of us, keeping us thoroughly entertained. God Bless you three!
I so agree with you, regarding the Florida Sky. Absolutely beautiful. When we stay at our Condo in Treasure Island, I take photos almost every day of the beautiful sky. Thank you for your channel. I so enjoy it. ❤😊
OMG what does that writer want you to wear a tux and formal dress? Jerry and Linda it’s because of your show 2.5 years ago that we are here. loved the information you had to offer. Don’t stop.
I have lived in the south and in Illinois. I thought the sky was different - then someone pointed out to me that the clouds were different. Different storm patterns and weather events. That made more sense.
We don’t hear anything from our neighbor’s homes, unless they have their sliding door open. But, it would have to be a loud sound. We don’t have kissing lanais. Landscaping also locks sound from traveling. We are on a loop, not exactly a corner. But, we love our lot. It’s very quiet where we live (in Hawkins). Jerry and Linda, we need to have you visit sometime to see this area. Have a great week! Thanks for this week’s Mailbag Monday! 🤗
Love your shirts~ MOST OF ALL IT IS WHO IS WEARING THEM that makes them so pleasurable! I think it is not so much what we wear, but more so who we are.! Hope you sell a million at the very least ! Shadow
As someone who operates our own RUclips channel (disconnect_for_adventure) I feel your pain with getting hater mail. Some people don’t have anything better to do. Keep up the work!
With regard to your sky’s segment. Phyllis and I are in agreement that we have never seen so many rainbows as we see here in The Villages. We both have lived in Jacksonville for many years so it’s not “all over Fla” that you can see these beautiful rainbows. We are blessed.
Once again great entertainment. The information is very good. I like the wide range of topics. Keep up the great videos. We lived in Ohio for over 50 years. Such gray skies for months on end. Moved to NC and now in TN. The skies in NC and TN are awesome. 😁

I also heard on another RUclips show that a new mandate requires all homeowners in Florida carry flood insurance. Can you clarify ? Flood insurance is costly and could break our budget for considering moving to Florida. Have a blessed Easter🌷✝️🙋🏻♀️❤️

I was going to talk to John and his 8 buddies but instead JERRY! Please…topless working in the kitchen….standing over the stove or getting too close to the oven might get your attention! YEOWEE!!
T-shirts are my whole wardrobe!
To John the salty..it’s the retired life attire not to mention the most comfortable thing to wear in Florida so deal with it!

We have noticed how beautiful the skies and clouds are here in FL since moving 2 yrs ago from Michigan. Just stunning!
When it comes to the countertops.... It's always best to have a waterfall edge on them, it keeps everything smooth, and non abrasive.

I was going to talk to John and his 8 buddies but instead JERRY! Please…topless working in the kitchen….standing over the stove or getting too close to the oven might get your attention! YEOWEE!!
😇
I'm sooooooo glad people have the time to sound off on the really REALLY important issues like ... y'all wearing t-shirts 🙄😉
HaHa!
You guys seemed more up (if possible) filming this show. Really great show. And we're you wearing one of your first design shirts? Like them all.
Actually the black is our newest.
I always use an apron and yellow plastic gloves when I’m doing dishes! The gloves help keep my nails and polish in top condition! Great video team!
Great tip!
