- After 7 days of filming under pretty harsh conditions in the Highlands of Scotland and far over 100 hours of post-production I’d like to present my latest time-Lapse short film “SCOTLAND - A Highland Tale”. Lean back, turn up the volume and enjoy the overwhelming landscapes of Scotland.

Scotland is an incredible country! How I miss the days I lived there...
I began my research on all things Scotland just last week and I must say that these videos have pleasantly shocked me! The wide open spaces and the lush greenery are just breathtaking. And what a riveting history too! Scotland, here i come!
Basically perfect video of a heavenly land. I've had the luck to be in almost all of the spots taken in this work and still these outstanding lands remain strong in my heart. This video manages to catch the soul and the atmosphere of these so-called barren places and bring me back there. A+

Scotland, since my childhood love this Country, later I was a Addult, spending my Holidays again and again in Scotland.

I'll do my best ;) At the end of the year I'll release the second part of my Austria Timelapse trillogy which will feature a lot of alpine regions and for the next years some spectacular destinations like New Zealnad, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Patagonia, Tasmania, Alaska, Canada are pretty high on my travel list ;) But I'm sure I'll someday also visit Ireland again, last time I was there I'm afraid I've not had the chance to film.

One word "Epic". I've recently done a 1,500 mile road trip around Scotland and recognise many of the views. My favourite part of the video is the Sunset behind Eilean Donan Castle.

Yes the sunsets up there are often really epic! Especially after a bit of rain, the light is often just gorgeous 😊

@@sleepless-in Yes one week with nearly no sleep 😅 Slept the whole week in the car, got up on 5 a.m every day and drove till 1 a.m every night with the car to the next location. So if you plan to go on holliday there I'd suggest to plan at least two weeks for this route 😉

@@sleepless-in yeah there are also some projects, like the Austria short-film which I'm currently working also take me over an year as I want to cover all seasons ;) but for projects which i film abroad like my Lofoten short-film or the Scotland film I'm afraid I dont have that much time ;) Yep my Insta name is @marcelgallaun 😊

This is incredible. I would love to be able to do motion timelapses like that in the field! Curious what your go-to colour grade levels are for videos like this?
Thanks a lot! I've color graded every frame/shot in Lightroom, so I'm afraid I've no preset or general setting which I could recommend.
@@MarcelGallaun Yeah, makes sense. In general though got this video, would you say it's high contrast and high saturation? I love the moody deep greens you've got, but it doesn't look eye bleedingly saturated, or like there's a green filter over everything. I'm still trying to learn so any tips would be appreciated!
@@MrRussell yes I always try that it still looks realistic and not too oversaturated. Same with contrast and clarity, personally i think you've to find a good compromise.

Everything was going fine until I saw 'Nikon D850'. I have the D810 and my wife keep saying, 'you're going to buy a D850' and I say, 'I don't NEED one!' But after seeing that video .. I'm not so sure! :-) Lovely film.
Thanks' a lot ;) Ah I think you're totally fine with the D810! I don't think you would see a difference if the video was "filmed" with a D810. If you're interested check out the Lofoten video on my channel, that one was filmed with my old D5200 and the quality is in my opinion also quite nice ;)

Absolutely beautiful, thanks for sharing. I do wish you had treated some of the time lapse differently, vegetation and animals in the shot made the scenes seem very nervous.
Thanks' a lot! 😃 Yeah you a right but I often had to deal with heavy winds, sometimes over 100km/h which made timelapsing pretty difficult and also made a lot of the shots look very hectic cause of the movemant in the vegetation. Also the time I had to create the shots was often very limitied because there were only short windows of some minutes where the rain stopped. I didn't want to remove animals out of the shots as they are part of nature and in my opinion make the shots look a bit more alive, but in some shot I had to remove some tourists with Photoshop which was quite a bit of work 😅
I especially liked the scenes of the isolated peninsula with water and sky moving past. Made the land look much like an airplane wing moving low over water.
