Hey everyone, A little tip, ADD some chalk from a chalk line into the mix. I like to use the Dewalt Blue Chalk and mix it in real good. That way you can see where you have textured on the wall easier.
You’re probably right but this is stuff mainly for us doofus weekend fixer guys. We’re going to have a pancake compressor, rarely anything bigger. USG wants their product used by us and this is where we come to try to learn. If they tell us we need a bigger compressor we’ll look to find a guy using one and buy his texture product instead of USG. That’s the story, wouldn’t you agree?
I'm definitely right, not enough CFM in a pancake to properly keep up. Use a large compressor, and use whichever brand of mud you prefer. Rereading the last part of my 1st comment, I'm not sure why I mentioned USG.
I used what looks like the same compressor today to do a couple of repairs about 4sq ft each and 4” around a ceiling. Only my second time using my hopper gun. Seemed to a good job. I only used short strikes applying the texture. If I was doing a bigger job, I would probably get one of my bigger compressors out. At around 30 lbs if output, this one did pretty good for the short time I used it.
Terrible video, let me save yall some time... do not prime, instead of mixing mud with water you mix mud with the primer and then spray, 2 birds 1 stone
@@age_of_reason clean it out when your done lol holy crap talk about simple. Should do it anyways even with water, I've done this several times now... still works fine
@@brucehansen7949 Ok. So by adding primer to the mud you don't have to prime the texture once it's on the wall? Just paint right over it? I never heard of that before that's why I'm asking. Does it work for popcorn ceiling texture too?
@@age_of_reason You would then need to prime after texture if you did this because the texture doesn't cover everything. So Same amount of time; just do it how the video shows
@@claytonpabst Exactly. Always someone trying to reinvent the wheel...that's putting it lightly....cutting corners is the right term. This is why the term 'American builder' is a pejorative.

Need more information on what consistency. It just says "smooth, lump-free." That doesn't tell us enough
That hooper is leaking like crazy 🤣
😂😭😭
I've saved a fortune getting rid of my own popcorn and spraying texture. Thank god no one painted that awful shit.
Some nice tips, Thanks
thank is the best Video i find to realize the project to apply orange peel

Thanks for the video; I learned most of what I needed to know.
I can't spray open orifaces?
This video is only for people with aptitude to use a hopper
this guy spraying is a rookie, always spray in circles.
Exactly, this is his 1st time texturing, with his pancake compressor no less.
Clockwise or counterclockwise
Circular motion is best.
Coupling a hopper to a pancake compressor is not the way to go. Come in USG...

I think I meant to say "come on USG!" because their video was horrible.

That gun sucks

No thanks. I'm not trying to prime the inside of my hopper gun/seals.
