Literally had the exact same thoughts as you. This lens is something special. 2 years late in commenting.
But man had to hear someone explain how I felt about this lens. It’s just so good.
Great review, thank you very much!
I have an xt2, bought the mitakon thinking I would probably only use it in certain occasions but completely fell in love with it, it’s now the lens that is ALWAYS on my camera and I’ll just always try to make things work with this lens because it’s so aesthetically pleasing and different. I rarely use another lens, even though this lens is a bit heavy and often makes you work for it, just my absolute dream lens
That sounds too familiar! I felt the exact same way... I expected it to be more of a speciality lens rather than something I shoot with often, but I find myself grabbing it more than anything else! You’re totally right, you have to work for the shots, but when you nail it the end result is so worth it!
what other lenses do you pack? I'm thinking of pairing this with ttartisan 17mm and samyang 85
Thanks for the review man 👍🏼
Great review straight to camera - I might just have to have that lens just to put some fun back into photography
I've had this lens for a while now and I love it! Your baby had me laughing though because he's too cute. LOL! Great review!
Man , that moment at 7:53, I'd give anything for that !!! Fantastic review by the way.
Loved this video, very informative. Even without sample images, the video showed a lot!
Looking to get one of these but was wondering what strength ND filter would you recommend for photography specifically?
question: at f/0.95 : for exposure. do u prefer an "A" shutter speed dial, or full manuel?
Good question! I prefer full manual exposure in general when shooting manual focus. When I shoot with native glass and use AF-C or S, I’ll sometimes set to auto shutter speed (or auto ISO depending on the situation) and use the focus point light metering if I’m in an environment where light is changing often. With manual focus I don’t bother with moving the focus point for different shots, so I feel like auto exposure wouldn’t work the best. Plus I wouldn’t really use this as a run-and-gun lens, so I have no problem with setting exposure myself before snapping photos.
its a good lens because the photos feel real i was brought up on manual focus lens
One advice mate.. When you are reviewing a lens or camera, provide some sample images as well just to show how that product performs.
So, you while reviewing do a voiceover provide some image samples as well.
Thanks
I appreciate the feedback and I totally agree. Watching this back now is a bit painful 😆 too much rambling and not enough examples.
Thanks for watching!
i do art photos so that lens would be great for me
💪
After watching so many videos of this lense on youtube This is the first Vlog video i have seen coming out directly from mitakon 35/f0.95
And you did really really great 👍🏼 and its very Helpful
.
But m still confused between this lense and 7artisan 35mm f0.95 which almost same & half of the price of mitakon
I would suggest you to please make one comparison video between those two if it is possible,
Thank you
Thanks for the kind words! I’ve seen that 7artisan lens - definitely intriguing for the price! It doesn’t seem to be a direct copy of the Mitakon. I’d be interested to see how the performance compares... maybe one day I’ll get my hands on one :)
somwhere on youtube i saw the comparison and the 7artisan fell clearly off to the Mitakon. lets say both have identical price/quality ratio.
Tact sharp is overrated.
