I'm utterly devastated by Irene's passing. A wonderful voice and immense talent. I also understand that after the success of Flashdance, her then record label didn't treat her well which resulted in her being denied many opportunities, so you also have to praise her for fighting her way through the show business industry throughout her career. This song is one of the most powerfully uplifting songs ever and is the kind that helps me pull through difficult times. Thank you so much Irene for sharing your talent with us - especially for this blessing of a song - and may you rest in heaven.
Rip Irene Cara. I can’t believe she’s gone. What a feeling she gave us all with this song and the rhythm it had. Her legacy will always live on forever 💔
One of my mother's favorite musicians passed away exactly 6 months after she did. Thank you for all the hearts that you've fulfilled with your music Irene. May you sing in heaven now ❤️
I saw Flashdance when it first appeared in the cinemas, and I remember having a slight tear in my eye during final dance audition scene followed by Jennifer Beal's character running out onto the sidewalk and into her new boyfriend's arms. Since then, whenever I hear "What A Feeling," I have fond memories. Irene Cara's voice is so catchy and up-lifting. I also realize the song's original release was nearly 40 years ago, and I was 23 years old at the time. So regardless of the 1970s and 80s icons, the fame, and the culture of the time, the current [life] passings remind me that we are not immortal. I only wish otherwise.
Before Tik Tok, Irene was making little kids want to dance and mimic her moves. In my 40s and grew up being so enchanted with her beauty, her lyrics and movie. Rest in Peace.

+stuart miley The 70s yeah, and I kind of agree with you on the 60s, though mostly the mid-to-late-60s, but not with the 50s. Seriously, the 50s was almost nothing but dull and repetitive doo wop. Name ten famous artists from that decade.
'What a Feeling'....I'll forever love this song ...heard it first time when I was around 5 and it instantly it did something to my musical palette that up to this day its one of my required quintessential go-to favourites. I am so shocked beyond grief that it me depressed for some time. She's one of the last few raw organic singer/musician that made an indelible mark in pop music's history. And so I salute dear lady...until the day breaks and the shadow flees away, Rest In Peace. Love ya.
yeah, no politicians going baaaaaaaa, get that mask back on or else!! 8/8/20 Mandatory/compulsory masks everywhere in the U.K by law!! Visit the U.K, lemme out ffs !!
emeraldTM As much as the masks are uncomfortable, it’s your funeral, literally and possibly anyone within your vicinity if you don’t do as you are told and wear it. If COVID-19 had occurred in the 1980’s would you of stuck two fingers up at Thatchers government if she had implemented the same policy? We should all wear masks until further notice, if you don’t like it.....tough we all have to do things in life we don’t want to do, cleaning up after ourselves would be nice too.

No one on earth could have sung this song better than the late Irene Cara. Absolutely stunning. I enjoy listening to it every bit as much as when it came out in the early 80s and became an instant huge hit. So sad to hear about her passing away. Same age as me. May she R.I.P.
1983. Autumn. Flying back and forth between Germany and USA weekly. Pan Am. In flight movie. Watched this maybe 10 times. It entered my soul. It's a part of me. It's in my DNA.
I'm sure there were people in the 1980s saying exactly the same thing about how the music of the 1940s was real music. Forty years from now, people will be waxing nostalgic about how much better the music of the 2020s was. It's a never-ending story

I saw this movie in the theater in 1983 when I was 14 years old. I'm 52 now, this song and movie still brings tears to my eyes. The dance moves and one girl's desire to keep chasing her dreams
The 80s Diese wunderbare Musik wird noch in 100 Jahren von Generation zu Generation gespielt, nur wir Bj.1970 waren live dabei..Techno ist dead Hip Hop is dead.Rap ist 60% dead....
What a fantastic song from an iconic year 1983,what is very disturbing and terrifying is that we will never have music of this calibre ever again. I shudder with the utmost dread.
Yes as a Gen Xer i agree it is sad that we f you look at all the best and most memorable songs tend to be ones prior to 1994. After that I don’t know what really happened. I mean there are still some pretty good songs that come out once in a while but back in the 1980’s you could just turn on the radio and there were just so many great songs nowadays that isn’t the case.
you just haven't found any music that speaks to you as an individual that is recent. there is great music everywhere. you just have to search, and be willing to open up to new things.
Descansa en Paz, Irene Cara. Qué hermosa mujer y bella voz has sido! Me siento triste.
IRENE CARA, another Puerto Rican glory, what a voice, she was never given the stardom she rightfully deserves. You are precious and your voice amazing.
Just so you know, she didn't get the acclaim she deserved because she had a drug problem. Cocaine killed her career. This was widely known in the business.

The 80s was the best decade, handsdown, my friend!
Because??
+stuart miley The 70s yeah, and I kind of agree with you on the 60s, though mostly the mid-to-late-60s, but not with the 50s. Seriously, the 50s was almost nothing but dull and repetitive doo wop. Name ten famous artists from that decade.
I have no words. RIP Irene Cara, you will truly missed. That woman was so talented and beautiful!!! 🙏🏾💔😔😢
No words. I thought she was perfect when I was a kid.

Yes! ME! From SA - I am 73 - still rocking!! Love this! What a feeling!
Timeless
Profoundly saddened by the passing of this talented, beautiful artist. R.I.P. lovely Irene Cara. We will remember your name!
Love ya.
This song was recorded in 1983. This was one of the BEST years for music! It must have been something in the air that year!
yeah, no politicians going baaaaaaaa, get that mask back on or else!!
@@emeraldtm1341 lmao classic chud, desperate to shoehorn in his autistic politics which are completely irrelevant to the discussion
I totally agree!
I was 4 in 1983! I remember very clearly like it was just yesterday! This was always one of my favorite songs and still is in 2021! 😊💯❤❤ 1983 was awesome!
Irene thank you for your beautiful music. RIP you beautiful spirit! You are so missed!
I’m going on 62 and I still shake my groove thing when I hear this song, thank you Irene Cara for sharing your amazing talent with the world and I only hope wherever you are you’re music is still creating joy

Gracias.
No one on earth could have sung this song better than the late Irene Cara. Absolutely stunning. I enjoy listening to it every bit as much as when it came out in the early 80s and became an instant huge hit. So sad to hear about her passing away. Same age as me. May she R.I.P.
One of the greatest songs ever sung effortlessly by irene cara love it ...the 80s❤
1983. Autumn. Flying back and forth between Germany and USA weekly. Pan Am. In flight movie. Watched this maybe 10 times. It entered my soul. It's a part of me. It's in my DNA.
Boy does this song take you back…….and boy do I miss it.
I haven't listen to it in years, and it just took me for a loop!
1:07 - That is one of the prettiest smiles ever.
The 80s had such great music. Actual music, not the crap they play now!
Substance!
Glad you enjoy!
No. Just the people born in the last 20 years are crap.
AMEN or LIKEWISE!
I'm sure there were people in the 1980s saying exactly the same thing about how the music of the 1940s was real music. Forty years from now, people will be waxing nostalgic about how much better the music of the 2020s was. It's a never-ending story
I was a Proff jazz dancer and your music gave me so much passion , energy , to be the best and I say ‘ thank you Irena Cara for your magic ‘ fly high. But rest in divine heavenly peace ☮️ where one day ,this 62 yo forever young , still loving dance , will meet you , as you are so so cool . Tragic for family friends . My love 🇦🇺
My God her dancing is absolutely stunning.
I'd like to see the actual dancer.
RIP Irene. You will always remain in our hearts and memories.
R.I.P. Irene Cara 🙏. Thank you for creating music that defines my teenage years in NYC. Beautiful memories...
Stop or ..
@Tony-un3yu......ditto: my teen years here in Toronto 💚🙏💙
Me traz uma lembrança tão boa.
And 80’s memories come flooding in. What a time it was
I saw this movie in the theater in 1983 when I was 14 years old. I'm 52 now, this song and movie still brings tears to my eyes. The dance moves and one girl's desire to keep chasing her dreams
How lucky!!! I'm from 1987, pal :(
I did too. I was in high school. I still have the movie sound track album, VHS movie tape. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I was 16 years old in 1983 when I saw the Movie Flashdance in theaters.
Soul, talent, and the guts to make Hollywood stand up and take notice...God bless you Irene, your legacy is a well deserved one 🙏
The 80s Diese wunderbare Musik wird noch in 100 Jahren von Generation zu Generation gespielt, nur wir Bj.1970 waren live dabei..Techno ist dead Hip Hop is dead.
I'm a fetus and I have to admit that this song is so much better than anything out there today. Anyone agree?
Trump Found Guilty of 34 Felonies
This song never gets old....one of the biggest hits in the 80s
Irene RIP, two years with God, always in our heart. What a feeling ,.
What a fantastic song from an iconic year 1983,what is very disturbing and terrifying is that we will never have music of this calibre ever again. I shudder with the utmost dread.
40 years ago. So many friends and loved ones passed away. I feel sad. I can't go back in time
it's so frustrating that we will never have this era back and nowadays music is only made through autotunes and AI having no heart and soul at all
and my childhood from those days are gone. Nothing like the 80s again. One of the most interesting decades.Such an upbeat time!
@@jimmbear3998 I think music started to deteriorate from 1985 onwards and just got progressively worse and worse to days mind numbing torturous crap.
Born in the wrong era
I was born 1998
Come back to this music because the current music does not define me as an individual.
Born Late 2006 and feel the same as you
I was discovering this music and these movies when I was 14 the year you were born. Not age limit on good taste. :) 😀
you just haven't found any music that speaks to you as an individual that is recent. there is great music everywhere. you just have to search, and be willing to open up to new things.
Born in 85’ such good movies! 90’s is where it started to suck bad!!
Try listening to Inna and Alexandra Stan. They are from Romania, make good dance beats. 😀
Fly in rhythm you voice powerhouse. You left us just a little richer and so.much happier!
My childhood......thankful for a decade of positive uplifting music. 80s!!!!!
Those were the days that music had raw talent and passion. No nudity, no violence and no synthesizer modifications. I miss the 80's terribly!😢
Descansa en Paz, Irene Cara. Qué hermosa mujer y bella voz has sido! Me siento triste.
R.I.P Irene Cara,a sua musica vai estar presente nos nossos corações!
Irene made this song great. May she RIP.
IRENE CARA, another Puerto Rican glory, what a voice, she was never given the stardom she rightfully deserves. You are precious and your voice amazing.
Irene Cara is half puertorican by her dad and half cuban by her mother
Just so you know, she didn't get the acclaim she deserved because she had a drug problem. Cocaine killed her career. This was widely known in the business.
@@donnabailey566 oh wow i didn’t know that!
No music takes you away so much as 80s music.
She’s half puertorican? That’s awesome omg yesss mi isla 🇵🇷
Great singers!!! Excellent voices!!! I was a teenager when these songs were at the top. Thanks for remind these beautiful rhythms.
Irene Cara you're gonna live forever through the inspiring music you gave us.

😍😍😍
First, when there's nothing
But a slow glowing dream
That your fear seems to hide
Deep inside your mind
All alone, I have cried
Silent tears full of pride
In a world made of steel
Made of stone
Well, I hear the music
Close my eyes, feel the rhythm
Wrap around, take a hold of my heart
What a feeling
Being's believin'
I can have it all, now I'm dancing for my life
Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life
Now I hear the music
Close my eyes, I am rhythm
In a flash, it takes hold of my heart
What a feeling
Being's believin'
I can have it all, now I'm dancing for my life
Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life
What a feeling
What a feeling (I am music now)
Being's believin' (I am rhythm now)
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life
What a feeling (I can really have it all)
What a feeling (pictures come alive when I call)
I can have it all (I can really have it all)
Have it all (pictures come alive when I call)
(Call, call, call, call)
I can have it all (being's believin')
Being's believin' (take your passion)
Make it happen
(What a feeling)

R.I.P. Irene Cara. I graduated high school in 1977. The dirty dancing disco era was awesome, and this song is still legendary. What a feeling.
Couldn't have said it better...RIP Irene Cara .
Pound by pound the best 80"s song, thanks Irene Cara.
Hard to argue with that.🎹
Pound by pound
So true. An inspirational ballad/dance hybrid that was rare back then and non existent now.
There are other great 1980s songs, too, and this one is part of a list of iconic songs that made the decade.
Without a doubt
I died at the start of the song then danced like a kid in the middle and felt alive when the song ended. This song is a time machine.
