DIYCoolStuff its to prevent having a bur on your newly ground edge, there is still a possibility of having burs this way, but its easier to get rid of them and keep a clean, sharp edge.
If you de-rust the blade with a wire wheel, electrolysis, vinegar or acid, your sandpaper belts will last longer and not clog up with all that loose stuff. Also, if you flatten the edge, it should be able to hit all the cutting surface of the board, instead of leaving a high spot in the middle. Good to see the knife kept alive.

So it’s just epoxy holding the grip on? No pin or mechanical connection?
Muy lindo trabajo Sr. Felicitaciones. Me gustó que dejara esas partes en la hoja sin devastar, muestran el paso del tiempo y quedan muy bien.
Nice job. Is there a particular reason why knife bevels are often ground with the edge pointing up (when the belt is going downwards)?

I like the way you left some of that dark pitting and then polished around it, gives it a cool rugged contrast
Thank you, thats exactly the finish i wanted to get to
Cool knife! I remember my grandfather had one like that. I bet it could be a handy camp knife chopper
traderjoes your everywhere in theses rust videos
I like the rustic look , thanks for the inspiration , I have two of them im going to restore...!!!
haha thank you(:
I like to watch this kind of videos because it satisfies me😄😄😄
Soak it in vinagar, overnight. Before you do anything else, it will save you a lot of time.
Sasha Whitefur and the product will come out 10times better
Simple and beautiful hand - I'm love it! :)
qmpel Thank you
I like leaving the pitting. It would have looked totally different if it were sanded completely new.
Why did you not perfect the edge?
Yooo a vinegar soak a major key guud shit though my guy
I was like that’s a nice copper square and the he hit it with the hammer and ruined it 😂
what compound did you use to attach the handle?
Enrico Fernando 2 part epoxy !
you sure that's not a froe to split wood?
Beautifully done
Loook at those hands go to work!! This was great!!!
Turned out great! What compound did you use to buff the wooden handle with and did you treat it with any oil?
Ni No I used only white compund
Looks like a tool made for making wood shingles by hand

jackbrightside bought it for 8 dollar in street market
i have one question why were you putting water on the guard?
The only Mexican UFO When I grind the cooper it get alot of heat so I put water conctently to low the heat that the apoxy in the handle wont melt
Core Axe oh okay sorry if i was being rude
The only Mexican UFO No need to be sorry i love to answer questions about the making as long as i know and can
You should have ground the edge straight first
Dude shut the fuck up
You should have left the edge curved first
He's right wad stain.
you should've put the blade in vinegar then worked with the rest of it
i really want to learn to do all this shit.
Is this knife for sale?
yes
im pretty sure you could have put that in a vinegar bath for about 24 hours and scrubbed most of the rust off with a wire brush.
That to me is a thing beauty the right amount of metalwork
Why only one people on yt can restored things? Everyone thats to much, restored thats no mean czange mompletly

Your mom isn’t straight but I bet you still love her.
Mikey Lew moron
Mikey Lew lol, good one
LeCanard Masker take a joke and not somebodys dick.
Lack of final touch. Restoration can't be completed without shining mettalic part of the knife.

A shitty old axe could chop through a piece of pine just as fast
Jude Bandstra - An ax is not a knife. If you don’t want to go home and get an ax then this knife will work. Plus you can use it for many other things.
Oh my bad I didn’t realize that an axe wasn’t a knife
Jude Bandstra a knife would be much more light and versatile than an axe, it would also have multi uses. Do you understand now?
Who else more stupid than me could read it copper knife
