  • Hanger 9 HellCat 15cc Arf Maiden Flight, Review and Crash the after crash investigation 🔎 resulted in the right elevator coming off in mid flight at a full throttle pass. The CA didn't penatrate the wood enough to hold it and it was thoroughly checked and felt secure. The airplane calls for a 15cc and I went 25cc so the speed+elevator issue equals this outcome. The engine was completely destroyed. Total loss. You learn every time you crash and comes with the hobby!💁‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    NEVER trust those CA hinges ! I always cut control surfaces off and replace factory hinges with high quality DuBro hinges. I have this plane still in the box - which 25cc motor did you use ?

    One reason why I don’t like the new ARF concept. I had a similar thing happened to me. What do I do now is drill a small hole through the hinge on either side, and pin it with a toothpick and glue it in place.

    THE 1 thing i prefer electric over any engine type plane, NO vibration from an electric motor! Gas/nitro engines have so much/so many ways to rip apart hinges, wood, everything due to vibrations.
    ANY crash sux. But gotta take the bad with the good. Ill stay with electric, myself. I don't miss nitro 1 little bit!

    • @icin4d
      @icin4d 3 года назад

      I think the issue is speed when using an IC power system - vibration and flat weak rear horizontal/vertical stabs. Stripping the covering and giving them an air foil and balsa sheeting fixes the weakness. The 20cc size Seagull 47 I'm building has this for the those surfaces.

      U never use Hanger 9's CA hinges. Always use dubro's plastic hinges for composite ARF builds. Hangar 9 CA hinges are designed to fail so u can buy another kit. Always over build your plane ✈️ for safety reasons 🍷
