I just done this upgrade at first I was a little hesitant because all up it cost $275 to do this upgrade centre diff and at first when trying to install the new setup I was looking at it and trying to put together thinking no way this is going to go together then I put the kraton on the ground rolled it backwards and forwards and with abit of force it just clicked together and must say after driving very impressed with the outcome
Can't wait to see you try the Big Rock. It's the favorite in my fleet to tinker with, and I despise that dang slipper clutch. It's done nothing but bring me grief. Thank you for the video!
Be patient, they are out of stock at the moment. Every one is trying to get their hands on those parts. Even Jenny's RC is sold out. It will be worth the wait though. Be wary of those scalpers on eBay who are asking way too much for them, trying to take advantage of the shortage. Arrma will catch up to the market in time.
@@AJJAMStudios thanks for the advice. I was expecting that to be the case with stock. I’m in no rush anyway particularly as the weather isn’t so great now.
Thanks for making this video. I’ve been waiting for Arrma to release a center differential kit for the K4 since I got it and this is just what I was expecting, very happy to see they designed the chassis with a center diff in mind.
If they are paying attention to our community, and they usually do, they already have an upgrade kit in the works...if they don't listen, for some reason I can't even begin to imagine, then they are going to be shocked at the Mojave 4s parts they end up selling as we buy them up and do the mod for ourselves. Usually Arrma listens to us, so my money is on a retro diff kit of some kind coming out to get all those people who already have 3 and 4s cars onboard with what's new and hot for these machines. The way it slips right in...and the fact you can't get the parts very easily right now...indicates they are planning something.
@AJJAMStudios Is there anyway you can add a video demo of assembling the Center Diff as it looks like we have to do it peice by peice? I'm not mechanically smart lol.
Sweet! I as well could never understand why they put a slipper clutch in the V2 Outcast and kraton. I stayed snapping shafts on my outcast. Found a company on eBay that makes a slipper clutch hub out of 7075 never snapped a shaft again. But I am definitely going swap it out with that center diff. Great video thanks for the insight.
I'm glad we could help. The slipper and the locking spool both overdrive the components when pushing big power in high traction, and that comes at the cost of durability. With some lighter fluid in the center diff, when you get one installed, it will ease the problem and allow you to keep that sweet top speed. I would still be careful to be off the throttle when landing your RC to help prevent any overpower to the drive system...it happens to us all at times. Please let us know what you think when you get yours installed. Thanks for sharing. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios You wouldn't know this but I have been in this hobby for like 20 years. I have 4 trucks fully equipped with m2c racing parts and the toughest parts l can find. My trucks look like dots in the sky when I jump them. Well aware of the functions of a slipper clutch.
The MWB chassis of the outcast 4s v2 needs a small modification to make it fit. So the length of the chassis will make a difference if modification is needed or not.
My front shock spring perches are rubbing groves into my to front drive shafts is there a way to move the front drive shafts back a little so there not hitting the shock spring perches i losened the shock end 3 turns but still rubing I tried contacting arrma but I sit in que for hours on end being 1 in que sent pictures but not getting any help from there support it's less than 3 months old should be still under warranty but not getting any help how can I fix the issue do you have any suggestions
Can you make a recommendation for the proper diff fluid viscosity? You mention using a lighter fluid than stock but didn’t say what it is stock, or make a suggestion for a better option. Thanks.
It all depends upon what you want from your RC. Stunting = thicker fluid. Controllability = lighter fluid. This is our understanding of the subject. We went super light and it controlled well and we ran it stock and it stunted nicely. Even mix…50k perhaps and see how you like it. Then adjust from there.
And you're right to be concerned about that. I agree, the slipper set is alright for 10th scale racers, but 8th scale bashers and larger not so much, and 4s not at all. We wound up tightening our slipper all the way down, making it a locker, just to get some runtime out of it. This new diff sounds like the answer to all those issues. However, there's still the issue of the plastic center drive shaft to consider. At 4s ours vibrates terribly, and this is in both the Mojave 4s and the Kraton 4s V2, but not so much on 3s in those cars. There's a lot of torque and power in those systems and I'm not sold on the lighter center shaft to handle that kind of power. In fact, I'm looking for an alternative to the plastic one as we speak. If you find one please let us know where to find it. I would love to give one a try. Thanks. AJ
Hi guys - great video AJ. I’ve been running aluminium centre shafts on 3S and 4s Arrmas. They are available on eBay etc. spring loaded like stock but metal construction. Never twisted and also resist rocks slicing right through them. Keep wrenchin’ 🔧
The Typhon 6s upgrade? Wow, I'm not sure about that. If I were asking for upgrades I guess I would ask for a tougher, basher type chassis with redesigned chassis braces that are more substantial, not the lighter one they put in the TLR. A tougher, faster servo. Belted tires with a different tread design, more like a truck pattern. Larger teeth on the diffs to help prevent diff failures. Aluminum front and rear diff housings for added control over the diff spacing. A rear bumper set, built after the EXB bumper design for greater jumping protection. An EXB front bumper designed just for the typhon for those unexpected impacts. After all, they already have the race version, so a dedicated heavy bash version would fit the bill for us here. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for asking. AJ
@@AJJAMStudios yes well a stronger servo would be a nice choice..i guess a new spektrum 665 when it comes out..think ill go for savox or power-HD that can handle 8,4 volts!😆now that i got my hobbywing max 8 with 2250 kv motor😇
So it seems like $120-130 to do this? That makes it around $600 for a 4s outcast or Kraton and a center diff mod. Kraton 6s is $549, so is that a way better option?
If you already own a 3 or 4s RC then this mod is the way to go if you want to improve your experience with the truck or car. If you’re buying, the choice has to be yours. Recommendation: find one that blows your hair back and get it. If it thrills you, you have the right one.
Hello! I think the problem is not with the differential oil, the Mojave 4s comes with a 16t engine pinion if I'm not mistaken, instead the kraton comes with a 13t one, I think the problem with the front lift comes from here...good luck!
Any idea how Arrma feels about this modification? It looks like this would solve the issue with the bent motor mount, too. Any comment on this? Thanks!
Thanks you for the question. The way the Mojave 4s diff module slipped right into the Kraton 4s tells me they already want something like this out on the market. I would consider this a test run for the idea. They, meaning Arrma, watch and listen to our community, that's why the center diff came out in the first place. We've been complaining about the slipper setup for years, and placing it in 4s rigs is not the best idea they ever had, and I think they know that, but building up a fan base that already owns the slipper style cars, 3s and 4s alike, and then releasing a diff upgrade for all those machines sounds like something they have been planning for some time now. I hope they come out with the actual upgrade kit...like the upgrades the do for the boost series. There's money to be made here and Arrma is well aware of that fact. I would look for this upgrade becoming available in the very near future. Of course, it only fits straight into the longer wheelbase RCs. The short ones, like the Granite, for example, have required some chassis mods to get it installed. Perhaps they are designing one for those RCs as well. We'll have to wait and see. Thanks for asking. AJ

I was saying this since the Mojave came out that center diff even fits in the 3s line. That module is a real game changer.

The diff does fit into the 3s line, Jt RC put the 4s Mojave diff straight into a Senton 3s in one of his video's.
I got the Kraton 4s v2.5 with the center diff, such an awesome car.

Personally I prefer lighter fluid for better control. It a personal decision. Thanks for asking. 😎👍

No. Check the dual rate for your setup and see it is turned up. It should be the first knob from the rear on the SLT 3. Turn that up and try it. 😎👍

True. We are going to do that when we swap out the diff fluid for something lighter.
