I feel sorry for people who think large homes are the only way to be happy. When I was in my early 20s I got married to a young man I was head over heels in love with. He was employed with the Boeing Company but he was just starting out and made a modest income. We had a tiny little house and two little sons, I was constantly dreaming of the day we would build our brand new big fancy house. My then husband was very ambitious and climbed the corporate ladder quickly and we were able to build the home of our dreams before we even turned 30. But our dream home wasn't all it was cracked up to be. It was so large I felt like I was always behind with my cleaning. And with small children we filled it up with too many toys and too much clutter. No matter how many times I tried to organize and purge things still got away from me. By the time I got the inside clean the outside needed attention. We had 11 acres and large flowerbeds that needed constant mowing and weeding. The stress of trying to maintain it all and still have jobs and young children involved in activities started to overwhelm me. I pleaded with my husband to sell the house and downsize to something more manageable. I know he thought I was nuts and I don't blame him, this was supposed to be our forever dream home. But we just kept dumping money into heating bills, electric bills, gas for the mower, you name it. He partially wanted to keep the house as a status symbol, but it was just too much for me. Unfortunately it became such a source of conflict for us that it ultimately contributed to our divorce (among other things). Now I am almost 40, remarried to a man who works very hard but earns less money, and we have a much smaller home. I adore this house. It is so cozy. Between the two of us we have 7 children, 5 of whom live with us regularly, and we all pack into the tiny house quite happily. We play board games, grill on our little deck, have coffee and watch the hummingbirds, and have movie nights with pizza on a picnic blanket in the living room. Having less has been such a blessing. The things I've gained, free time with my family and not so much constant stress, has been worth the material things I've let go of. Sometimes when I'm driving past the large finer homes in my neighborhood I feel a little jealous twinge, but it's shortlived. I'm very happy with my life now. Content and peaceful and grateful for what I have.
Thank you for sharing your story. Very special lesson learnt in your life. You seem to have found the secret now. May you continue to have many happy years in your cosy home.
What a beautiful fairy tale story! Thank you for sharing, much appreciated. Many lessons learnt, but happiness gained alone the way! All blessings to you, and your family. Moira From England. ♥🌹🤗
Your cottage is so so beautiful and truly a home. So many RUclipsrs live in houses that seem too sterile and lack life. It’s so refreshing to a see place so loved
Hello all! So excited for today and the launch of the audio and ebook!! I’m grateful for all your views, likes and shares and to anyone who buys, enjoy! Love and hugs from Ireland ❤️🧚♀️🍄
Thank you for sharing your magical cottage dear sister. I have only just discovered you ! I have a question quite random but where did you get your visor hat from you wear? Dreaming of my cottage In Ireland, Scotland or Wales......parts of Wales are very much like Ireland ~ Bright blessings Jo xxx
Hi, I am from India...I must say it's a beautiful and truly fairy 🧚 cottage. I am just curious to know do you follow Hindu culture as I saw few pictures of Hindu Gods.
People may not remember what you said or taught but they will always remember how you made them feel ❤thankyou so much for putting such calming videos #NatureFairy ✨🌿
Oh my gosh, I was not expecting to see Gopal, Jagganath, or Radha-Krishna! Such a joy to be invited into this slice of heaven, thanks for all you do! :)
Great filming. Slow and easy. Laid back and chilled. Even the background music was relaxing and non intrusive. Divine. Thank you for sharing the magic.
So good to see Indian Hindu Goddess Mahalakshmi/Saraswathi and Lord Krishna in your home ❤ Also we usually keep a photo of Goddess Annapoorani (meaning - Goddess of Food) in our kitchen in order to thank her for every meal that she provides us and its a belief that we will never run out of food in our life time 😊
Oh my goodness! When you opened the door and said, “Ah hello, come on in!”, I wished I could snap my fingers and be there. Your home is lovely and your video is beautiful and calming as always.🍂🍁🇨🇦
Sitting on my old wooden porch here in Ontario Canada...oversized wool cardi on, steaming cup of hazelnut coffee in hand warming the inside while the autumn sun warms my face...enjoying a quiet morning and a " visit" to my favourite cottage...I simply enjoy the feeling you create...warm, inviting ...your cottage is beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for inviting us. 🍁🍁🌻
One of your best videos yet. My favorite parts of the cottage: the high ceilings, the old cross windows, the beautiful light that floods in at the right angles, the open views, and last but not least, that oh so glorious storage jar collection!! This home touches my heart and is truly inspiring. I can't get over the amazing sunlight that brings the place to life. Your cottage really gives new meaning to the maxim: "home is where the heart is". 👍☺😍👏💖🐑🐦🐝🍀🌹🌈
I live in a 540-square-foot, 1 bedroom cottage so your Fairyland Cottage seems palatial to me. I am coveting your gorgeous natural limestone walls! LOVE that both the Rat Pack and Buddha adorn the walls of your charming home. 💕
3 hundred years old and still looking impecable.. House build in stones are the best ones. How much a cottage can cost if we want to buy? Your house is full of love and a delicate decoration. The only thing that is left in that house is a Cat. ❤❤❤
I love the “ rat pack” wall art in your living room! I have always loved Dean, Sammy too! Your plants look so healthy. Although you say the windows are small, the light in your home is divine. Thank you for the tour of your lovely home.
I'm from India.. and I loved the picture frames of Indian Gods... Like Lord Jagannath, Shri Krishna, and I think I also saw Lord Vishnu... That made me feel so happy and proud. Lots of love..take care.
Your home looks exactly like my grandmother home here in India...loved the way you have decorated it..Lord Sri Krishna paintings, Sri chakra, your interest in Ayurveda... everything is wonderful... Lot's of love from India... Sowmya Tejasvi.
Your home is lovely. I love older homes. They have a soul. I lived in a home that was 225 years old in the mountains of Massachusetts. I loved the energy in that home and your home looks as if it has a soothing energy about it. Thank you for sharing.
You’re a great inspiration for me thank you so much ❤️ I’ve decided to take a year off from work to hopefully beat my burnout and depression. I enjoy your videos so much. Have a wonderful week ❤️😘
My husband has a dust allergy, so we switched rooms two years ago, made our old tiny office into the bedroom and also have a mixed office and dressing/laundry/storage room. It really impacts the quality of sleep to just have the bed in a room and nothing else. Your place looks so lovely and calming. You are absolutely inspiring.
Question if you don’t mind...my brother has a terrible 2 yr cough and breathing is compromised. Dr doesn’t know except could be chronic bronchitis, the dog dander or dust allergies. Did your husband cough lots?
@@catholicpeaces6257 Yes, he has asthma from his allergies (dust, animal hair, hay fever). Did your brother get tested for possible allergies? I also have hay fever and when it's bad I react allergic to our cats (with asthma), although I usually don't. Some allergies can be triggered by food and make things worse. If he has chronic bronchitis, it would be good to ditch dairy completely for at least a few months and see if it gets better.
I have the same issues, cough, chest tightness, sore throat, eye and nose pain, but my problems are caused by the vast increase in coal and log burning fires over the last few years. I urge anyone who uses a coal fire to please consider your neighbours and burn dry, smokeless fuels and maintain the ventilation and emissions from your fires.
@@tim-youtubewatcher2726 I can relate to that. Where I grew up, there were several old buildings heating with coal during the winter. Although my asthma usually kicks in with the hay fever season I always had troubles to breathe near those buildings. I don't know about other countrys, but here in Germany you can get financial support to upgrade your home to more environmental friendly alternatives.
I live in the UK and over the next few years laws are coming into effect which will ban coal and only smokeless fuels will be allowed. I believe these laws already apply in some other European countries. I also think many people don,t realize the impact coal fire emissions have on our health. For some reason coal fires and log burners seem to have become very fashionable at the moment in the UK.
It is Thanksgiving in Canada. I am feeling grateful especially when I begin the day with my friend at Fairyland Cottage. Thank you for the wee visit, I would love to share a cup of tea on the decking and listen to the chimes and the wee birds. It is magic.
Weeks away from moving into a 'new to us' home. Very similar in size and layout to your gorgeous cottage. Leaving behind a huge bungalow with a huge garden and we are, in every sense of the word...downsizing, and I can not wait!! Your home is absolutely everything anyone could wish for, cozy, welcoming and beyond beautiful. For those of us who don't crave life at the general break-neck pace, and choose to live our lives simply, I do believe money couldn't buy the peace it brings. I'm way older than you, I have seen fashion and trends, gizmo's and gadgets come and go...and come back round again, but one thing that has always been a constant, is people's 'dream' to live quietly. I appreciate this isn't always possible for everybody, but for those who can...it is to be encouraged. I wish you many happy years in your home 🥰
Thanks so much for welcoming us into your home. One thing that I thought was really fun was that we could see some of your DIY’s in use that you have done over the years.. for example the Pom Pom hanger above your bed, the box shelving units in the bathroom, and of course your Autumn wreath on the front door. A home reflects the person who dwells within, and I think your home is cozy, genuine, comforting, earthy, and simply elegant... just like you. Thanks again for having us. I hope your e-book and audio book launch is going well.
Ah thanks Mary! Hehe yes everything I make is still in the house. I love it! It gives context to it all. Your kinda words are very touching. Thank you!
I am from that part of India where we pray Lord Jagannath and little Krishna :) saw so many picture frames of them and other Indian goddesses ...so happy to see how beautifully you have included them in your space..never knew you like them!! ❤️❤️❤️
Namaste, from another Krishna devotee! Hare Krishna! Jai Shree Ram! I'm sure Gopala certainly resides in your beautiful, comfortable home! Thank you for giving us a glimpse!
Hi. Thank you for letting us into your beautiful & cosy home. I don't mean to be nosy but I could not help but notice the pictures Hindu Gods adorning the walls ( I am from India so it was easy to recognise). I found it rather rare for a typical Irish home & Irish belief. All the best for a successful e-book
What a treat to see your home! The kitchen is lovely. Everything has a place, even the wooden salad spoons hanging up by the window. Cozy and beautiful place!
This is the first time ever for me to comment a RUclips Video. I'm following your Channel for more than a year now. I'm Always looking forward to Sunday mornings...Everything in your Home is so warm, and made or decorated with love. I really do feel the atmosphere. Your voice is such a soothing one, it's for sure, I'll be getting your eBook as well as the audio. Am so keen to getting to know your journey from the past until today. Much Love from the north of Germany🌺
Ah thank you for taking the time to message. It means a lot and for your constant support over the year. I really hope you enjoy listening to the story.
Your home is absolutely adorable. You have infused so much life into the 300 year young structure that I could almost feel it pulsating with your vibes. You've made it alive, which is not a mean feat by all means. Thank you for letting us inside, & I apologize for being so late to arrive. I'll definitely check out your eBook and your website. 💖🙏
Your house is beautiful! Love in every detail, its decorative pieces have a perfect composition for each place. Congratulations!for your excellent taste in decorating. Hug...
Hi! I feel so relaxed and zen watching this video, it's amazing! I have watched RUclips for I think almost 15 years, since the early beginnings. But I have never purchased anything from a RUclipsr or influencer before. This is going to be the first time. Because I think the book will be really valuable and I truly want to support you, to keep going on this journey. Thanks for sharing all this with us! Love from the Netherlands.
Ah Hi, thank you so much for the message. It made my heart fill up with love. I’m truly grateful and touched. Let me know how you find the book. I really tried to keep it simple and share my journey.
This may be one of my favorites!! I recognized so many things you’ve made or shared in previous videos - like your kitchen makeover, and the vinegar stained shelves, etc. what a perfect video the week of your ebook launch! It’s a delight to see your home and I can’t wait to get your book! Wishing you much success with its launch and many more years of sharing simple joyful living with us!👏👏👏🎉❤️
Aaaahh my friend, finally see the house tour which is really a home for me. Simplicity as it finest yet full of love in different angle. You made my week so right again. Keep safe! 😊
The Fairyland cottage is a place I can dream away to. Right now my home is so full of family and animals. I search for a peaceful space for myself. I yearn for simplicity.
Warmest congratulations on the launch of your Audio/Ebook . I have just purchased my copies. Now need to be patient while they download onto my very slow and ancient laptop. Your house is lovely, truly beautiful, I enjoyed the tour very much. Thank you for inviting us x
O thanks so much for the support! I hope it all downloaded. The mp3 is a smaller size so should download quicker. Email my info@fairylandcottage.com if you have any problems with the download!
Coming from someone who's been studying interior design off and on for the last year.. this is beautiful and feels so much like a home. You can feel the history and the coziness through the screen. I live in Canada and we don't have homes this old at all. I lived in a 65 year old house and that's considered old here. There are of course homes over 100 years old and thankfully often times they are kept as "heritage homes" and aren't knocked down, they are kept up and continued to be lived in. I currently live in a building that was totally gutted (the floorboards had rotted out etc) instead of knocked down from 1983, and I love the idea of just keeping something "old" and just updating what you need to. Anyways that was a total tangent. Just love your place.
Your home is so beautiful Niamh. I’ve been looking forward to this tour. I live in a small home too and wouldn’t want to live any other way. 🏡 I just bought your book and just glancing through it the photography is beautiful! Can’t wait to read it. Have a wonderful day. 🙌🏻
What a beautiful, peaceful, idyllic home! I would never want to leave. As for the thumbs-downers, they must have had a bad case of gas when they viewed it, or are just crabby and rude. There is nothing to dislike about your home. Thank you for sharing.
Your house is so beautiful, serene and comforting. Loved the picture of Bal Krishna in your kitchen, it is so adorable! And the fireplace area seems so cozy and inviting. Thank you for all your inspiring videos! Keep creating more! Love and blessings :-)
Your home is beautiful! The way you have decorated it is just beauitful. I really like the chocolate brown in your room. The only thing missing is a cat, but not a young one because it would wreck your plants. =) I live in a small house too, with my husband and children and 2 cats and a dog. Here in Canada, people want bigger, bigger, newer, but we've chosen to be content and happy with our small home instead. It's given us a lot more financial freedom than most people.
Very nice share , I have been to Ireland ☘️in 2018 and loved the Irish cottages especially the decoration and warmth on the windows , it is so inviting , thank you for this clip
@@FairylandCottage Hi are you married to south Indian, got a glimpse of wedding picture in your bedroom. i believe it was an indian wedding:). also Finally got to see your beautifull home:):)
Sweet home. Is that your washing machine in your kitchen? I found it interesting that windows were taxed. Hhhmmm things you didn't know you didn't know
Congratulations on your book ,I can't wait to read it . Thank you for sharing your journey to peaceful living . Lots of love and a great big hug ! Thank you for the tour , what an amazing space to be able to create.
Thank you for the tour… In the comments people are suggesting that you should have a cat. Cats are predators and they kill birds, lots of them!! Some of the kills are left outside and some of them are brought back to the house. 92% of the kills are at night so if you do choose to buy a cat, please leave it indoors at night. Cats kill thousands of birds and other small animals every year…
@@missmegan3694 But no, they don't eat them, so it isn't nature - it's predatory for the sake of predatory, so please control your cat. They contribute to high population falls.
Such a beautiful home. I just goes to show that you don't need hundreds and hundreds of square feet to have a perfectly sized home. Now our kids are grown up and moved on we want a tiny home like yours, all on one level, big enough for the two of us, plus the lazy dog and 2 partially feral cats. I live in the beautiful countryside of Cumbria but this house is too big for us now. Hopefully soon we'll find our forever place where we can spend the rest of our days. Am heading over to the website now, so looking forward to the book and audio book xXx

@@FairylandCottage Oh my! You visited India?!and never told us about it!!
Exactly...I also noticed this...so many pictures of Krishna😍
Namaste, from another Krishna devotee! Hare Krishna! Jai Shree Ram! I'm sure Gopala certainly resides in your beautiful, comfortable home! Thank you for giving us a glimpse!
It's quaint and cozy and absolutely feels like a home 🥰❤
Hi. Thank you for letting us into your beautiful & cosy home. I don't mean to be nosy but I could not help but notice the pictures Hindu Gods adorning the walls ( I am from India so it was easy to recognise). I found it rather rare for a typical Irish home & Irish belief.
All the best for a successful e-book
thanks so much... I love Indian culture x
Good to see a Sri Yantra on your window sill
What a treat.
Thank you for being so generous.

What a treat to see your home! The kitchen is lovely. Everything has a place, even the wooden salad spoons hanging up by the window. Cozy and beautiful place!

I'm happy that I live at the same time with you💕
Ah thanks Melanie x
The Fairyland cottage is a place I can dream away to. Right now my home is so full of family and animals. I search for a peaceful space for myself. I yearn for simplicity.
Family and animals is a wonderful dream for some :-)
Warmest congratulations on the launch of your Audio/Ebook .
Omg you have Jagannath in your house too🥺🙏
Coming from someone who's been studying interior design off and on for the last year.. this is beautiful and feels so much like a home.
Ah Tina, thanks so much! Let me know how you find the book. I’m so excited to share with everyone here.
Fairyland Cottage I just finished it and I loved it! Will read it again and again. I loved reading about your wedding. 🌸
What a beautiful, peaceful, idyllic home! I would never want to leave. As for the thumbs-downers, they must have had a bad case of gas when they viewed it, or are just crabby and rude. There is nothing to dislike about your home. Thank you for sharing.
Ah you are so kind! :-)
Oh my Lord, it is such a wonderful place, so homy. God bless you and stay healthy. Greetings from Germany 💐
So true. So much financial freedoms with a small home. Thank you for the compliment. I’m glad you like the design. And yes it totally needs a cat!!
Yes!...love your home!,my husband and I have lived in our small home for almost 27 years and I love it. It’s warm and cozy and easy to take care of.
Magnifique 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻☘☘☘🌞🌞🌞
Thanks! ☘️ 😁

I love your house and the way you store things fits the look of the house. Thank you for the tour
I'd be interested to know from census sources how many people would have lived there in the past.
I love, love, love seeing Krishna around your home 🦚 thank you for touring us around! Your home is so beautiful and inspirational 💗
Ah thanks 💕💕
I was surprised to see Dean, Sammy and Frank on your wall...curious why you chose "the rat pack" for art in your home...?
I have a husband! He has his personal taste :-)
Very nice share , I have been to Ireland ☘️in 2018 and loved the Irish cottages especially the decoration and warmth on the windows , it is so inviting , thank you for this clip
Have you ever been to india.. u have so many god’s n goddess pictures.. do you know them
I have loads of times! I love India
@@FairylandCottage Hi are you married to south Indian, got a glimpse of wedding picture in your bedroom. i believe it was an indian wedding:). also Finally got to see your beautifull home:):)
Your cottage is beautiful, and the perfect size.
Sweet home. Is that your washing machine in your kitchen?
I found it interesting that windows were taxed.
Hhhmmm things you didn't know you didn't know
Ah yes washing machine in the kitchen!
It's normal in Ireland and the UK.
Also in Spain 😊 it saves a lot of space.
Also in Portugal!
Not normal in the Netherlands 😉 We have the washer and dryer in the laundryroom or mudroom or maybe some even in the bathroom.
Such beautiful cosy cottage. I love your fireplace 🔥 Thank you 💚
Is there a story behind the "Rat Pack" poster on the wall in the living room?
I was curious about that also !
Haha my husband commissioned an artist to paint years ago! He loves the Rat Pack!
Fairyland Cottage “A world of different tastes”...even inside of Fairyland Cottage! 🥰😊
Congratulations on your book ,I can't wait to read it . Thank you for sharing your journey to peaceful living . Lots of love and a great big hug ! Thank you for the tour , what an amazing space to be able to create.
I think u r highly inspired by hinduism
Yes indeed!
Your home is warm and inviting. My husband I live in a 2 bedroom home and we love it.
Goddess Lakshmi in living room and Krishna in the kitchen
A small cottage but full of love❤️
Is that lord Krishna in the painting?
It is indeed!
What a treat to watch! Thank you
Thank you for the tour… In the comments people are suggesting that you should have a cat. Cats are predators and they kill birds, lots of them!! Some of the kills are left outside and some of them are brought back to the house. 92% of the kills are at night so if you do choose to buy a cat, please leave it indoors at night. Cats kill thousands of birds and other small animals every year…
Um....nature.
@@missmegan3694 But no, they don't eat them, so it isn't nature - it's predatory for the sake of predatory, so please control your cat. They contribute to high population falls.
Wonderful rustic charm!👩🌾
Beautiful cottage, but i hate windchimes!!!the sounds are sooo annoying and far away from peace and calm!
Some people love that sound. It can be very calming to some.
Haha opposite for me! 🥰 a world of different tastes ❤️
Fairyland Cottage 🤗🤗🤗
Such a beautiful home. I just goes to show that you don't need hundreds and hundreds of square feet to have a perfectly sized home. Now our kids are grown up and moved on we want a tiny home like yours, all on one level, big enough for the two of us, plus the lazy dog and 2 partially feral cats. I live in the beautiful countryside of Cumbria but this house is too big for us now. Hopefully soon we'll find our forever place where we can spend the rest of our days.
Am heading over to the website now, so looking forward to the book and audio book xXx
Ah thanks Sarah and thanks for the book support! I really hope you enjoy 😊
