Nice video. I've had my basement flood previously. I would be worried with the rack that close to the sump pit. Might want to mount stuff as high as possible and organize the cables.
Thank you. Ive thought about that as well but really the UPS is the only thing down low and if the water ever gets that high, I have bigger issues to worry about.
nice looking rack and setup. Unifi is like a drug, you get addicted. starts with a switch and an AP, and months, years later, it spirals out of control. :)
Started with a 12U wall mount and in months, had more equipment than it could hold. This was due to a neighbor giving me three older Ubiquiti cameras. What’s the logical thing to do? Buy a 42U Dell APC cabinet to mount it all in, then buy Dell servers lol. I’m loving it all though :)
Oh wow, this is perfect. I'm really glad RUclips suggested this to me! How did you rack your Z840's? I have a Z440 I'd LOVE to do some racking with but just not sure the parts I'd need (I've never put together a home rack).
I purchased the NavePoint adjustable rack rails from Amazon and the PCs just sit on them. They were much cheaper than the official HP sliding rack mount kit. The only drawback is I cant slide the machines out to easily work on them like you can with the official rails.
Nice video. Thank you for posting. What model is the wall mount cabinet and do you like it? I would love to upgrade my wall mounted setup (I made a video on my channel all about it).
I have WOW for my ISP. with their free modem they provide on the 1.2gbps plan. I got rid of Xfinity due to their data caps. I wish I had fiber, maybe in the future they'll run it to my neighborhood.
2 cabinets!? That's a baller move 🏀

Clean setup, I dig it!

Thanks and yes it is. lol
I really like your setup Steam library I am going to have to build a VM for that! Nice video Bro!
Thank you.

I like having all of the networking stuff in its own rack but if you can find a cheap full height rack off of marketplace, Id maybe go that route.
@@RandomTechWZ yep! I found my 42U Dell cabinet on Craigslist for $100. Had all the keys, all the side panels. It was 99% new!

Thanks. The wall mounted rack is a NavePoint 18U 450mm Depth Wallmount Networking Perforated Cabinet (Pro Series).
@@RandomTechWZDoes it sack with two UPSs in the bottom?
Are there issues with humidity/condensation in the basement and all of that equipment?
Ive had no issues but the basement exterior walls are insulated with 1" foam boards and I have a dehumidifier running as well in the summer.
I hope you install a whole house surge protector. I hear rack mounted surge protectors aren't good.
Yes I have a type 2 spd in the main electrical panel.
I would get a keystone patchpanel and put the fiber and ethernet into it, instead of running it directly into the switch. Other than that great setup!
I thought about it and might eventually switch that top brush plate over to another patch panel.
Thanks for the video review. As far as the Dell MD1400DAS, was that purchased new or used? Just curious what Gen? Thanks
I bought it used from Ebay for under $400 with the caddies. Not sure if there are generations for the DAS.
Which Gateway from Xfinity do you have? Did you use wifi 6e access points? Do you have fiber to the home?

Next time buy Toshiba drive. Best on the market. From a study made by some magazines can’t remember long time ago.
Nice gear.
Thank you
Please, the standing server rack is a 24U ?. Thanks
Yes its half height so I believe 24U.
Same here comcast data cap suck big time plus there service was very unreliable. AT&T fiber has been the cats ass.
Im praying for the day that AT&T runs fiber in my neighborhood.
