First time seeing Tim Henson, found through Jared Dines collab. Absolutely fantastic guitar work and clean techniques - love the sweeping combined with the alternate finger picking. Really enjoyed the blend of scale sweeping, alternate picking, and the beat change - gave it a classical/metal/hip-hop vibe. Talented guy right here, looking forward to seeing more of your work
This particular part from this particular shred is the most bespoke shredding that still completely melts faces... Like my face was melted, but at a nice soulful black tie event. This track was how I discovered polyphia and completely altered my understanding of how a guitar could be used to make music...
In a world.... Where guitar virtuosos surface every 5 seconds... A dude with a penchant for musicality leveled the playing field with some gorgeously melodic trip-hop shredzy-malone phrasing... Music would never be the same...
Back when this was release in the shred collab, I was about to sell my old guitar and just give up cause I grew bored of blues and classic shred. Then I heard this. Since then, I bought a new guitar and learned so much. So thank you. I hope the new album does the same to many more people

He is the 21 century's "Guitar Mozart." What a genius this young man is.
00:33 until end
Evokes a strong emotion. Im not sure what kind of, but I listen to it over and over again just to chase that feeling.
Best part of the solo
I would describe the feeling as having the most amazing day ever then driving back home or laying on your bed knowing you feel content, happy, and have the potential to do it all over again
Idk. Personally I love Polyphias style because it's unique but so familiar almost like a lullaby. A lot of there songs are on major pentatonic scales but they just make it sound so euphoric and feel like your sipping on some champagne and a 40 oz. (no pun intended 😎)
Imo some of the feeling lays in the backing track in the last part. But that dosent make it less impressive.
It kinda evokes this weird christmas-y, nostalgic emotion for me. But that's probably just the diminished chord talking, lmao.
How do you even make this in your head???? That sense of music is out of the world
Crazy man. Just insanely creative
You can hear how diverse his mind is through this song. An i like it.
He writes a lot of his stuff based on rap and hip hop which I find insanely interesting to hear how it translates with classical training.
Easy best solo on there
no question
Definitely. Everybody killed it, but tim is just so unique
If you think hybrid picking is easy then fam you need to teach me lol
@@PursuitSk8 True. i mean i really like Nito too, but this 0:33 just resonates with my soul, like godanm
Fuckin right
seriously one of the most creative artists alive right now. there is nothing quite like tim's playing
I listened to that collab cause I like Davie but this kid stood out above everybody to me. I think I’m a new fan.
Calvin Crisp actually that kid Tim is one year older than Davie 😂😂😂
Bro. Exactly what happened to me lol. Didn’t even think twice about listening to it until I saw Davie on the thumbnail so I checked it out
AAn BBe that’s my bad. I wrote that comment and posted it as soon as I heard it. I didn’t do my research. You have to admit he looks pretty young. Anyway, I really like how he plays the guitar. Haha.
This is just so unique, creative and beautiful.

Tim Henson you should pin this bro
This is straight G $h!+. Hard af.
Yess
@steven Taylor yea he's not gunna hit you up😂
@steven Taylor has he hit you up yet?😂😂😂
F*ck, i have hears this over 30 times and I still get the same freaking chills... it's ridiculously good
This is what happens when Jimi Hendrix and a robot have a baby, taught it some classical riffs, forced it to listen to Funk for a month, then fed it some LSD and turned on a video recorder.
Almost a year that I watch it every night.
This is my bedtime story.
Your style is truly your own. A signature TH sound. Seriously the best out there!
I sold my electric guitar last year, now I'm here with my acoustic. Managed to learn G.O.A.T, The Worst and Goose Riff. But this is a fucking monster.
I'm gonna get this, no matter how long it takes
post a video when you do, that would be sick
@@MaydupNem I did post a short of the first half, took me ages to get that sweep picking part :P cheers!
You have a lotta time to waste bro 😂
Ugh, so freaking tasteful. This is the difference between a great guitarist and a brilliant guitarist, he shows virtuosity while rremaining super tasteful, most of the other shredders can’t do it. Generational talent, I wonder where his journey will go
Not tasteful in the least
@@jellyrollmorton2051 Time for you and AfterEight to share your conceptions of "tasteful".
I wonder which will have the RIGHT definition;)
@@WeTubule this is one of many examples of "tasteful" I can give. ruclips.net/video/ggJCrl9oEgQ/видео.html
@@jellyrollmorton2051 Great to hear. Composition and arraignment aside I hear a few remarkable things about his performance. But i don't know what in particular you mean by "tasteful".
@@WeTubule tasteful means he knows he's great. He's not trying to shred people's faces off to prove it, just playing the music he loves.
Tim this was the best solo of all the 2019 shred collab. Your playing is simply amazing! I did not know of you prior to the collab. You have a new fan! And so does Polyphia!
this is where I discovered Tim, out of the whole collab it was apparent this was the best part, i had to see more. Man was I not ready. Greatest guitarist of our generation. My ears are blessed to live in the era of Tim. i'm not even a guitarist but i could listen to this man all day. Doesn't take much to see and hear his talent. sorry if this sounds too fanboy-ish but i love this man.
He's abso-fucking-lutely great, but many people don't realize that the backtrack of the riff plays a massive impacts for the riff to be this cool. But eventually to be able to compose something like that is so out of this world
The type of guitar playing is the vibe we never knew we needed
I cant get enough of this solo, currently learning it and jesus it's harder than it looks and I'm not even at the sweeping tapping part
Completely agree. It's harder than it looks, and I have learned just like 7 seconds at a very slow speed.
Talented guy right here, looking forward to seeing more of your work
you should check his band, Polyphia. Their EP "The Most Hated" and their latest album is "New Levels New Devils"
Shit, I thought I was straight
lol w8
Same dude
Same
No one is straight for Tim, my friend.
What's Kraken? Lol it’s true, I’m straight as a ruler but this dude? He’s an exception
Everything he plays is 100% juicy lick with taste if it makes sense
Makes complete sense
*Sexy*
11/10 best solo on the song
Back when this was release in the shred collab, I was about to sell my old guitar and just give up cause I grew bored of blues and classic shred. Then I heard this. Since then, I bought a new guitar and learned so much. So thank you. I hope the new album does the same to many more people
Kudos to the guitarists in that vid, but a lot of it was sort of generic shred. Hadn't even heard of Polyphia but when this solo came up it really caught my attention and I had to look it up.
Jordan Pool generic maybe if you’re Tosin Abasi but cleaner and more original than most guitarists in metal or blues
I was the exact same way. Came across them in September and goat ended up being my most played song on spotify last year
Same, I watched that video for Ichika Nito and left wanting to know more about Tim Henson and just fell into the huge rabbit hole that is Polyphia.
This was indeed the "Whoa, hold up now" moment in the collab... Got me right in the feels. Excellent work!
That changed the entire mood of the collab and I love you for it
This is really the best piece of music I’ve heard in m whole life.
When my Guitar teacher showed this to me 3-4 Years ago i instantly knew, this guy is the #1.
There is no one like him. He is the Jimmy Hendrix of our time
There has been music like his since at least 1993. Just listen to the song Textures by Cynic
Yo opino lo mismo.
Tim Henson feat. the rest
G Medi don’t disrespect Tosin Abasi like that
LOL TRUE
Said little but said shit.
@PotatZo bruh.
@PotatZo speakin straight facts rn
Wow bro, I love your solo, everyone was playing as fast as they can and using tapping most of the time, and suddenly u appeared with that beat and a great flow in the guitar
Please make a full song of this
damn, you really remind me of a guy named Tim henson.
damn, yeah, they have so much incommon
Yeah bro this guy and Tim Henson should collab some time
@@crowwithinternetservice yoo true
0:33 Polyphia tone in a nutshell
how do i get this tone thoooooo
It's just the same track but pitch-shifted into harmonies and layered on top of itself.
@@Frogentoad dude i want it so baddddddddd. i literally can't find it anywhere
It’s a Vocoder effect actually, Tim talks about it on his channel
@@TheTF2Pianist Can you tell what harmonies he's using? I know you can use a pitch shifter to get the harmonies, but I can't really tell whether he's using a fourth, or fifth above (it seems like he's playing a lower note but the effect plays a higher note, if that makes sense)
can u make this one a longer version so i dont have to clicked the repeat button every 49 sec.
Right click on the video and click "Loop"
Or make a playlist with just this In and put repeat on the playlist if you're using a phone
Frfr
This is so beautiful. I'm at loss for words. And he hands down destroyed everyone in that shred collab no doubt in that
This song/riff has inspired in so many ways. I’ve been playing for 15 years and the technically of Tim’s playing is honestly hard for me to comprehend. A true modern guitar hero
We need a longer version of this.
Specifically one that just repeats for 6 hours
Anyone else can't stop playing it back ?
Me
ur not alone bro
Yessssssssz
Dude I’ve been playing it back for the past 4 weeks hah
I CAAAANNNTTTTT...!!! 🤣🤣
There's not much more humbling than thinking you know even one god damn thing about playing guitar and then seeing this
0:33 onwards invokes strong nostalgia I cannot explain it
it's because it also plays in the background starting from 0:17
WE REALLY WANT A FULL SONG FROM THIS MASTERPICE. You are a legend man🔥❤️
surely the most unique guitar part I've heard in a long while
I can’t stop listening. It’s the third day in a row.
Fourth...
Well... I’m not even counting anymore. I’ve accepted I’ll watch this until I hate it and it won’t happen.
@@dm5802 I felt this way for so many songs by polyphia, but now I've listened to much and I've gained a tolerance. I need something stronger to get that eargasmic feeling again.
@@NahImBats lmao yeah i go through favorite songs sooo fast because i loop them like 24/7. Now I stop myself from overplaying them but this one's so goooood i can't stop myself
Just to make sure you are still listening
Still one of the most epic Tim Henson moments after all these years. Pulling this gem on a shred collaboration is what sets him apart from other ultra technical players, this guy is a real artist.

Me: because your mother loves roses

bro stuck in 2018
My man hahha
Ok, you win this time
Coeg😂😂😂
Every time I see the thumb in the suggestions I feel an unexplainable need to listen to this song, than I play the video and start reading the comments til the song ends, than I put it on repeat and continue reading and do this like 10 times every single time, even after a year.
I must have actually listened to it much more than a 100 times by now. It's weird because this has never happened to anything or any song. It actually confuses me a little.
the best music i have heard on a guitar ....its been ages that i havent heard in ages
Can’t stop watching this. It’s been on repeat for almost an hour now... quite possibly the most interesting piece of music I’ve ever heard. Otherworldly to say the least
It's been 11 months, I'm still stuck in here.
This is absolutely MAGIC
That last part might be a good lofi sample 🤤 those chords sounded straight out of a tape machine
Saw this on on insta before I even knew it was part of the collab, kinda wish it was going on the next poly album. Ichika picked up from this solo beautifully tho, love that he went right after tim.
Can't tell you how many times I've watched this since the shred collab.. Beautiful af! 🔥
You've inspired me to use more hybrid picking and evolve my playing. I've been stagnant for a while and I appreciate the motivation my guy. Happy holidays
Oh god ive never heard a solo this lovely. Fucking dying for it. I need more of this.
i think the most impressive thing about that was the fact that he played that in a chair with armrests.
This is by far my favorite on the collab. So incredible man. Thank you.
