- This is a stunning 300-square-foot jungle tiny home on wheels with a screened-in porch/lanai that provides an additional 300 square feet of covered living space. It's located in Kaua'i, Hawai'i, and was built by Jack for his family of 4 (soon to be 5!). He is an incredible natural builder with over 22 years of experience and the majority of the materials he uses are reclaimed, sustainable, and invasive species like albizia trees.
Not only do we get a tour of this jungle home, but we also get a peek at some of Jack's previous builds, including a skoolie conversion, the wave tiny house, and his latest project which is a tiny house on wheels that he will be donating to a family in Lahaina who was affected by the Maui wildfire.

I hope they already checked to make sure the home with the wood if untreated will be allowed on the island. My first thought was that it would be awful if the home had to be turned away because of worry about non-native plants/insects or other concerns making their way to the maui.
You're a Wonderful Ohana, much Aloha n Mahalo to y'all Ohana
Superb!!!! I live in Santa Fe New Mexico. The builders here are killing out high desert! Building junk huge homes few can afford. 😢 I live in my van-5th year going.... I deeply appreciate your vision, creativity& care!🌎❤️
Your home and environment you have created is so stunning and relaxing.
What an amazing project! Truly inspiring. I honestly don't understand why it doesn't have millions of views.
You can help with that by keep spreading the good word! Mahalo
Gorgeous dwelling. Love the use of local materials. Your creativity and craftsmanship makes this dwelling a piece of art.
Pure Talent! Love the wooden features!
Totally agree! Jack's talent and dedication to the craft is really impressive! Happy you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching :)
I’m so glad that you are helping the community of Lahaina ❤
What a wonderful life you have built for
yourselves!🎉
I love your home.
And what you are doing for the family is awesome ❤
Mahalo!
Love the homes, especially the Lahaina project ❤
We are excited to support a native family there! Thanks for spreading the good word about our GoFundMe!
Your place is work of pure beauty!
I think so too! Thanks for watching :)
Each home is breathtakingly stunning.
Just stunning and such a wholesome project...seeing these kinds of young people makes me so very proud of this younger generation. What incredible examples you all are!
A lot of hard work and "heart" work! Mahalo :)
Wow wow! It looks amazing. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching, happy you enjoyed checking out Jack's work :)
Amazing builder with a gentle and beautiful soul. Your home is lovely. Thank you for what you are doing for a Maui family. I live on Maui, part of a family who has been here for 112 years. I bought a home just outside of Lahaina four days before the fire. Luckily it was not touched, but so many are struggling to find housing. You will be such a blessing to one lucky family. ❤
Appreciate your Merry. Please share our gofundme so more people can learn and support our project!
Absolutely stunning. I would be thrilled to live in any one of the homes shown in this video. A true artisan.
We hope one day that you can. Please share our GFM so we can spread the word!!
I was hoping to hear a little more about the garden design - it's beautiful!
Lovely home and community. I like his philosophy of using natural materials and consuming less, living more sustainably.
Wow! Two videos in a row finding property owners who sound confident [like they know] about what they are talking about (and don't up-talk all the time making it sound like they are asking instead of telling). Congratulations "Exploring Alternatives". You are on a roll!
What's there not to like about your tiny home and the massive space around it. I'm a lover of nature currently living in a big town but literally I'm just hanging on for a little bit longer and I'm going back to enjoy everything I left behind in my tropical country.
Kudos to you for the skills and efforts you put into building that community. You certainly got yourself a subscriber.
Wow I love the idea of using reclaimed wood and materials. Cheers to them. Thank you Matt and Danielle. Hope all is well with you both. My husband RJ and I are doing fine ❤
Happy to hear you're both doing well! Thanks for your message :)
Tiny homes have been part of Hawaii for years and years. Most people though they own the house do no own the land, it is leased. This build and attitude behind this house is totally a reflection of Hawaiian culture.
One more thought, if you include the outdoor space, the lanai, the house is 600 sq. Ft. The lanai is an integral and important part of a Hawaiian home.
I wish he had a youtube channel, his builds are amazing
He does, here is the link to it :) www.youtube.com/@jackwhitfield7746
Absolutely Beautiful Amazing!!!Best one yet❤
Wow, thank you! Happy you enjoyed Jack's work :)
$250K for tiny house built with reclaimed materials is just ludicrous. I respect his skills and creativity, but I wouldn't spend that much.
😂
I imagine it was so expensive because it’s in Hawaii, a distant island, where building materials and machinery aren’t cheap.
Do you have any idea of what houses and land costs in Hawaii! $250K is a miracle!
Cause now you're basically paying for the one of a kind, unique artistry
@@robertameredith1190 No, I do not. Please, and I do mean PLEASE, provide me with some facts/links to justify the $250K price tag for "reclaimed/used/discarded" materials. I don't want to accidentally buy from those places. FYI: the guy just builds and sells houses, not the land. If he was including the land with the house, then it would be a steal.
This was a very enlightening video - both with your talent of building and also all the details included in your building. Everything just clicks - its earthy yet a bit modern - its small yet very airy and open - it's very homey and functional. It just makes sense - so much sense. It's something to watch and learn for sure. We have way more things that we can use and need. Simplify our living makes us feel free. There's a sense of calmness about you, your family and your home. Love the gardening area too - it's just right. Thank you for this video - I will be sharing it. TYVM
Absolutely stunning! I love everything about it! Great craftsmanship👍
Turning trash into treasure. Thanks for the support!
It’s a beautiful home!!! I love your work ❤
❤❤❤❤Ty for building this and being able to be a blessing to others may you continue to use your skills 🙏
So much beauty ...
He's really creative , we're you watching from?

Cool 😎
Happy you enjoyed Jack's beautiful tiny house :)
That looks great
I like to think of myself as a artist when I build aswell .I love reclaimed materials and thinking outside the box.I can't help from thinking the builds are very pricey. I no a person needs to make a income but seems very high.❤❤❤
I don't know the logistical challenges he faced in building this in Hawaii but we need to take that into consideration and that can make a huge difference in the final cost. I built a two storey house in a very remote location up in the mountains. My house is at an altitude of 8300 feet. The logistical challenge was enormous and that itself took the overall cost of building to 5x what it would have cost me to build in a more accessible location, not far from the city. But of course the premium paid was worth it considering the awe inspiring nature's beauty all around.
Oh my goodness, there is just something so soul-filling in a hand-built home. It is just the opposite of the kind of standardized, substandard tract home that developers build today, and which are rubber-stamped by authorities. How wonderful it would be if we could all work together in groups under the direction of an inspired builder like Jack to build our own homes, and work with others to build theirs - like the barn-raising of the Amish. We have lost so much that is valuable and good and kind - like all those values and qualities that Jack and his family have stamped into their staircase. May we find a way to turn things around and live more honest lives where we support and empower each other and live simply and more in harmony.
Appreciate you for supporting us. Hit us up next time you are in Kaua'i!
@jackwhitfield7746 Yes, I'll do that...if there's ever even a first time! But never say never, right? I would love to see your place.❤
I love this! This is exactly what I want, as soon as I can get financing! I’ll keep watching you!
Fantastic vision and foresight! He has a gift!
Really love the natural materials and hues inside the dwellings, and that 'sun' shaped garden outside looks amazing! Please, in your future videos, start them with a text overlay stating the location, or include it in the title!
Good idea!
It’s so beautiful in every way.
That wave house is so gorgeous I wish to marry it. 😂🎉❤😮
Beautiful home

@8:44 $250,000 Dollars for 300sq ft Tiny Home on a Trailer?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!WTF!!!!!!
yup that got me off as well haha
250,000?????? Good Luck!
really cool house and project
but 188k for a tiny house? might as well build a full house for that
You are incredibly talented! Awesome homestead! Im on Oahu, and dreaming of something like this on a different island. Aloha and Mahalo for sharing.
Thank you so much!
LOVE this!! XOX From Ireland
How the heck are they keeping those garden plots so pristine and grass free? They must have to edge every day.
Beautiful work ❤😊❤😊
This man is an ARTIST and GENIUS BUILDER 💯🏆..... why some people are negative 🤔 . They can afford it, he works hard and we don't need to know their finances. Period 🌑
... it's their business......

@@Cavolfipriecapperi Hello how are you doing today
250k damn
Great content as always 🫶🏻
Love the stairs with all the values. 💙💚. Tiny home is quite expensive, cost is as much as a modern home here in Australia $500k.
I thought tiny homes were supposed to be an alternative to expensive stick builds.
At that price tag you should just buy a regular house
Hello how are you doing today
Omg this is amazing
Not too often I see a woman other than my wife prepping jackfruit for the family to eat :) nice - also , incredible design work
Had me till I heard 250k. That would appeal to me if it came with ocean front property on the big island. Guess I will have to buld my own and get help when needed. Aloha
You will not find ocean front property on the big island for $250k, except maybe Puna in a lava zone!
I’m interested in the garden. Any video for that?
Hi,very interested sadly in our country we don't rely get help like you are helping people in need.
Hello how are you doing today
$250,000? That can get you a 3 bedroom house where I live in North Carolina. With 2 and a half bathrooms.
Are you originally from north Carolina?
no born in South Carolina, but lived in N.C. for over 30 years.@@JohnScott-ru4ny
Its unbelievable what you have achieved. My friend at "Simple Living with Biata" is on the same journey.
Who cares how tiny the house is when you got so much space outside that's dotted with stunningly beautiful landscape. You should be spending most of your time outdoors if you lived in such a gorgeous place. This is far better than being crammed into a million dollar apartment with nothing to see outside.
Great work and I love the hair.
He's really creative , we're you watching from?
How are they keeping the grass out their beds?
Hello how are you doing today
It's so cool not having a dishwasher, water heater, air condition, washer, dryer, toilet or bedroom furniture in your home. You have talent. Build real houses.
I'd consider a dishwasher in say a shipping container home but not so much in a tiny house on wheels. Each to their own though
When you live in the tropics, you don't need a dryer. Clothes air dry really fast in those temperatures. Just hang them up outside. And regarding the water heater.. there are plenty options to have your water heated by the sun. Your other points are subjective as well. He biuld a house that fits exactly his families needs. There is nothing more real.
To be fair, invasive might be conception or misunderstanding. Thriving doesn't mean invasive, choking out other life is. Also, what about all the native life that might have found shelter, nutrients, and wellbeing in those trees?? Just food for thought.
In what country are those homes?
The landscape is so damaged. Do you have examples where people live as one with nature? I would love to see examples of that. Thank you in advance.
He does build lovely homes, though. Thank you for sharing that part.
i love the tiny homes and off the grid type houses for adults but i'm always concerned for the kids because its a big decision to make and kids obviously can't make it for themselves
I agree that 250k for a tiny house on wheels built with reclaimed materials is outrageous, what are the dimensions of the house and how do you justify the cost. That amount of money would build a much bigger traditional house. How are you trying to get the cost down? Hopefully more than half that amount down.
3:18 $188,000? 0_o
To me, a large part of the point of tiny homes is cost savings. While this guy builds beautiful tiny homes, the price tag is beyond absurd. Especially given the materials he's using should be low cost.
✨❤️🫨✨
Could you please insert metric measurements in your videos? I'm sure there are a lot of us non-Americans who would appreciate that!
This tiny home is $50,000 more than my home that is 800 sq feet. Respect what they’re doing but it seems to be a little bit of a scam to make them richer.
For $250,000 I can build 20 or more tiny homes here.
When he said he builds tiny houses for $250,000 I busted up laughing at the gall and turned the video off.
$188,000 to build a tiny home? Are the walls made of gold? That pricing seems ludicrous.
