Your attention to amusement details kill me. The dropdown, the solar panels opening to the music (that was plain beautiful), the approach back to Kerbin... Very well done, sir!
+Hazard-ish As a small suggestion, I would like to see more parts in normal time. You speed up almost everything and it doesn't give people an accurate picture of the actual physics.
Sorry for the wait, everyone. I've been very busy recently and haven't had the time to make videos. Finding the right music also took longer than expected for this one so if anybody has any music suggestions for future videos let me know :)
+Hazard-ish in general audionautix.com is great for KSP music. Its license free too :) Thanks for the nicely edited and fast paced KSP video. Really enjoyable!
+Hazard-ish Check out an artist called "without.directive". He has a lot (if not all) of his music for free download and I wouldn't think that he would be against you using his music if you asked him. Has a very diverse style of mostly instrumental and some with vocals. Not all of it will be what you're looking for, like I said he touches on many different genres. I think he's an unknown artist that deserves a little attention. At the very least give it a listen when you're bored one day :) Can't wait for part 3 Hazard-ish. Your vids are always so fun to watch.
+Hazard-ish I Have A Suggestion For Part 3. Make A Station And Have A Little Probe Come To The Scanner Probe Every So Often To Fetch Extra Resources Or To Pump It Up With Electricity To Scan More! Also, The Station Is Also Made With Another SSTO Around Minmus, So Put One Into Orbit Of Minmus To Make The Station Core Core (Yes, I Meant To Put That) So That It Could Dock With The Other SSTO To Get Back To Kerbin. 1 SSTO Will Be Left In Orbit Of Kerbin While The Other SSTO Will Land On Kerbin And The Other One Will Follow! Think You Can Do That? I Am Sure You Can Expand The Base And Make A Station At The Same Time! ;D
You need to make a tutorial series on SSTOs. I know most of us are very inexperienced on them, and you seem to be quite the expert. Looking forward to the growth on your channel, nice job mate.
There's some trick to it that I don't completely understand. The two lateral docking ports on the center column are what's connected to the two side beams. You can use docking ports as decouplers normally, which doesn't present a problem. The issue is that you can't attach the "port" side of a docking port to something's radial surface; it needs a normal node. After fooling around with the reroot tool for awhile, I can't figure a way to do it. Trying to attach the outer side of a docking port to the I-beam directly just results in the radial attachment node taking precedence. So, even though the port LOOKS like it's attached to the I-beam using its port side, it's flipped around. The best I can come up with is attaching the side beams' end docking port to the center beam's side docking ports in the VAB, and then using the rotate tool to make them appear parallel, even though they're still coupled. Alternatively, you could attach cubic octagonal struts to the side beams in an inconspicuous way, using the move tool to clip it into the I-beam. Then you'd have a node the docking port could connect to. If there's a way to actually attach the outside of the docking port directly to the radial surface of an I-beam, I'd be thrilled to hear about it.
That poor kerbal during reentry. Also, can you imagine sitting in one seat without being able to remove your EVA suit for a 1 month long space flight? Yikes!
Really incredible work. I just found your channel today through your reddit post about stock hinges, and I'm hooked on going through all of these. I'm consistently amazed by your craftsmanship and skill in KSP - extremely well done, and you've definitely earned a new sub.
I've discovered this channel recently. I am really lovin it. The other day I read in the comments that the videos you make have something special, something that makes them really cool. I think that your ideas and how you put them into practice are extremely elegant, and they convey the impression that it couldn't have been executed better. Anyhow, keep the good work up.
Wow, thank you! I love hearing things like this. I do try to make each of my videos interesting - the only problem with that is they can take a while to finish :P
+Michael Easton Thanks! Part 3 will have to wait for a short while since I'm working on another project (that will be uploaded shortly!) but will be much more impressive than this installment :D
hazarish, you deserve SO MANY MORE SUBS.your every epesode is very entertaining, and is well edited.i expected u to have 1 million, but 30k!?! its not bad but wow.EVERYONE! SHARE HIS/HER VIDEOS :D
Didnt expect that dropping the cargo in mid air is also an option ;D But in the latest version I would have expected the kerbal to be burned in the atmosphere ^^ Love your videos, keep up the great work :)
Hazard, you have very neat and clean editing skills. I trade off between you and Scott Manley for content on KSP and find your skill sets pretty equal. I would love to see you combine your speed builds with career mode. This artistic choice would be very fun to watch in career mode and it's high speed pace keeps me engaged even in the house keeping portions. Keep doing great work!
I really want to make a Mun base, but... The science module is... 2.5 Kerbal Units large, and it won't fit in the Mk-3 cargo bays... How do I build a good SSTO that can do it?
+Mastikator 1.1? YES! 1.0.5? Sort of. I'll be sure to mess around with all of the new parts added which is great but, with ships as big as ones I'm working on currently (800+ parts), it's the Unity 5 performance increase that I am looking forward to.
+Hazard-ish I'm gonna love those Vector thrusting engines. On another note, I'm pretty upset about how they are replacing the MK 1 cockpit. In light of this, I had backed up the files for it and plan to release a mod for when the update comes out!
I'm glad people haven't forgotten about it! I've got most of that video finished but I need to do some other videos before I can wrap it up. I am working on it though and it's going to be a good one! :)
you should make a new base using ksp 1.2 , what better way to show off all the new parts and mechanics, plus these vids are orgasmic, i think i became a little aroused when all those solar panels extended ;) and not to mention deploying moon cargo like a boss
+oEQjet Good question, I don't know actually. In retrospect, I probably should have - it would have been a little bit more efficient! Thankfully I still had plenty of fuel at the end though :)
+Hazard-ish Speaking of efficiency, you can alter the periapsis of an hyperbolic orbit by burning radially, being more efficient and less time consuming, than burning retrograde at a high periapsis for capture. As a bonus, the capture at lower altitude and higher speed will be more efficient, thanks to the Oberth-effect. (compared to capture in high orbit and followed by lowering of the orbit to the target altitude)
+Adil Basically at high-altitudes and high-speeds, where you fly through the sphere of influence and don't get captured, you can more efficiently change your periapsis (lowest point of an orbit) by burning towards the planet/moon, 90° offset towards your velocity-vector, instead of directly against your velocity vector. If you now circularize at the lower periapsis you were more efficient (used less fuel) than first circularizing in a high-orbit and then lowering it to the target altitude and circularizing again.
You could make a video teaching how to make these new planes? I really like your videos and think their incredible projects, but I have difficulty in making aircraft and would love it if you make a Video teaching how to assemble them.
Do the upturned wingtips have a function? I usually find I don't need much yaw control, and I would think the best place to put it would be at the center anyway.
+HebaruSan Extra yaw control is never a bad thing! Also, this crafts centre of lift is REALLY far back (as you can probably tell) so any slight maneuvers during scent can result in magnified wobbles.
Yea, a question. Why did you use 4 RAPIERs if you were only going to use 2 of them outside the atmosphere? You could've EASILY placed whiplashes instead of those 2 RAPIERs and save fuel.
+adamsrealm Nope, re-entry heating was on 100% and I never touched the dreaded debug menu. As you can see from my descent profile, I came in at a very shallow angle. The vast majority of my final procedure was done above 30km where there is much less re-entry heat. In fact, at around the 6:00 mark, you can see that I dip in an out of the atmosphere - falling and rising again by about 4km to drain speed without falling too far down. Although at higher altitudes like this there is much less heat, there is much less drag to slow down which is why the aerobrake took so long as previously stated. Essentially, the atmosphere provides an impulse - a small force over a very long time does just as much work on the SSTO as a larger force over a much shorter time (which is how most re-entrys go) although the second option is much more deadly. Despite all this, the landing took several attempts because explosions which is why I ran the Kerbal around at the end - I couldn't believe that I didn't blow up! :) Hope that answers everything!

You have to have "ignore max temp" cheat on because kerbals roast in less than a second with re-entry heat
+adamsrealm Nope, re-entry heating was on 100% and I never touched the dreaded debug menu. As you can see from my descent profile, I came in at a very shallow angle. I started my third aerobrake at sunrise and landed at the KSC in what is equivalent to the afternoon. In real-life time the final aerobrake and decent took roughly half an hour to complete.
