[Outer Planets] Stock SSTO To Tekto - KSP

  • After learning how to use gravity assists I head to Tekto, a moon of the Saturn-like planet 'Sarnus' which orbits way out past Jool. Tekto is a Titan analogue so it has a thick atmosphere and low gravity meaning an aerospike was required to maintain efficiency in its atmosphere that extends 100km above the surface!

      My personal theory (and justification for unspeakable cruelty) is that kerbals are like sentient plants that photosynthesise, so I don't need to give them food, and time-warp is a gameplay representation of the kerbals putting themselves into a state of hibernation.

      @unknowncuyler5449 8 лет назад +1

      +Collin Thompson okay I will agree that a life size single stage would not work. but it can be engineered in other ways. multiple stages and/or multiple launches. I have been working on similar projects for targets like mars, but my computer is just too shitty to run all those mods with r.o. without my game crashing every 5 min.

    • @quoniam426
      @quoniam426 6 лет назад

      Landing on Tekto is actually very easy, combone a Minmus like gravity with a Eve like atmosphere, if your craft is built to create a lot of lift/drag, it will land by itself without need for chutes or powered landing at all. Landing a probe with chutes takes an awful lot of time for the craft to come on the surface !

    • @Hazardish
      @Hazardish  9 лет назад

      EXPHunterForce That as quite complicated and to avoid filling the comments section with paragraphs on little details, I'll outline the basis. Essentially I timed how long the 3 gravity assists take by looking at the clock in the top left. I then worked out, by using Sarnus' orbital speed and the time, the distance it travels during the assists. Using this site: ksp.olex.biz/ I then worked out APPROXIMATELY where it would need to start and just added the additional distance (I assumed that getting to Sarnus is pretty much the same as Jool).

    That is beautiful, I'd love to see the "seas" if there are any, of Tekto, because that'd be awesome (even though I think it's just a reskinned Minmus with an atmosphere, it'd be epic) :D

    • @Hazardish
      @Hazardish  9 лет назад

      Actually, a lot of detail has gone into Tekto! It does have seas (and I'm lucky I didn't land on them!) But it wasn't worth visiting in this mission. It's also a lot bigger than Minmus, roughly Eeloo sized.

      Oooh I see. I couldn't really tell which it was based off of. I'd also love to see the other planets in that mini system :D

    • @Hazardish
      @Hazardish  9 лет назад

      Yeah, Tekto and all the other moons are all unique and very well done! If there is demand, I might visit the moons added by this mod more in the future. :) There are two other systems of moons too - analogues for Uranus and Neptune even further from the sun.
      I would highly reccomend cecking out the forum for the mod for more info :D

      I think I will. Sadly I run Kerbal on a craptop, and it would probably have an aneurysm if I tried to use too many mods XD

    Awesome Hazardish. That 6th planet looked awesome, and the green titan analogue ? just fantastic ! I'm going to have so much fun with this game once we get x64 to fix the memory issues (if we ever do that is).

    • @Hazardish
      @Hazardish  9 лет назад +1

      Francois424 And the mod adds another 2 gas giants as well! When it is released I might head over to the Triton analogue with a VERY thin atmosphere on the edge of the solar system in an SSTO too :)
      I would definitely recommend checking out the mod in the mean time though, I can run it with many other mods even on 32bit!
