The song is about social anxiety and the braveness to be yourself, dance even though you can't. With the help of a few pina coladas he loosens up and starts to dance. He is a huge Rammstein fan.
Yes, apparently the cable got stuck in rehearsal in Finland a couple of times, but never in Liverpool. He saw it out of the corner of his eye at the final at the last millisecond

He is more of a rapper than a singer, and he joked about having to take some singing lessons before the competition in order to beat Loreen. But I think it is more about the song and the whole performance than just the vocals.
His vocal coach did the live backing vocals of "Cha Cha Cha" in Liverpool. She is a vocal couch and an artist in Sibelius Akatemia (Sibelius Academy in English).
Hello from another vocal coach! I've seen backstage videos of him doing straw phonation, so someone's guiding him on how to keep his voice in shape. This absolute banger has been living rent-free in my head for weeks now, and I don't think it's going to stop any time soon!
I love how into the song the crowd was, you can hear people doing the cha cha cha part right on time. It's simple sure, but having somethin for audience participation is such a fun and enthralling part of this. This was my favorite for sure.
Funny thing, they said Käärijä had a little case of fever the night before this performance and he still performed like a champ, even tho his voice was a little shaky. I love him, definately my true winner and the one to actually deliver the message of the Eurovision "united by music" 💜
He is at first an aggressive work worn ogre, that goes to a bar and chugs down pina coladas so he can eventually dance and be happy. In it's surface it's about drinking and partying, but under that it underlines how stupid it is that we can't just go and have some fun. Especially men, they are supposed to suck it up and "take it like a man". Käärijä is saying to them: "Just go dance!".
I’m just obsessed with this performance. Totally the best song. Btw I love your shirt! The fabric reminds me of the good old days. I’d love to have a dress in that fabric.
This song is going to be a pain this summer. Will be playing 200 times at nightclubs, home parties and bars. Esp when you know it is about drinking pints and pina coladas to transform yourself from a larva into a beautiful caterpillar. I'm looking forward to it!!
There is a different side to the song and it's meaning. Alcoholic beverages are mentioned in the song, but Käärijä (Jere from Vantaa, Finland) had a really bad inflammatory large intestine when he was younger. It worsened when he still partied, drank more alcohol and went to bars. The intestine got so bad, it nearly took his life: doctors gave him two weeks. There is a huge scar on his stomach if you look closely, as a reminder of a life-saving surgery. He had to learn to live without the intestine, and to be careful with alcohol as well. If you interpret the song as a drinking song, it is not. It is about being fearless about who you are, and dance in whichever way you like and when you like. Party like no tomorrow, celebrating life, your friendships. The green bolero has raised a lot of questions, why he wears that. I do think it is just out of fun thing, a crazy idea, but through his fearlessness, there is a deeper meaning to it: being free of judgement what concerns your clothing, your way of life, your way to dance. If you feel like wearing neon green or pink or whatever colour, be free. If some people judge you, let them, it is your life and your style, not theirs. Jere from Vantaa was quite unknown in Finland a few months ago. Suddenly, in just a few weeks after the UMK final, video of his final performance was spreading joy to foreign reactors and he started getting name not only in Finland, but abroad as well. He had done only small club gigs in Finland, mostly around Helsinki (the capitol) area. He had wished to get some more gigs outside Helsinki in more rural Finland, other cities. But those little plans changed a tiny bit. Next stop: Madrid. Then Lithuania. Back to Finland. Bookings to lot bigger arenas in Finland. Featuring on a video with one of the most popular artists in Finland. Two gigs a night or something like that. Next stop: Amsterdam. More gigs and back to Finland. Next stop: London, then Liverpool. After performing to around 20-200 people in his gigs in Finland, I think everything that happened in a short while pretty much exceeded his dreams. And he has not hesitated a minute being a potato, pumpking carrot, Hulk, oddly jumping neon green banana in front of millions of viewers. Not once. Fearlessly, he has been himself all through this mad voyage which started only three, four months ago. Love from Finland. ruclips.net/video/phFGtQETQTI/видео.html&start_radio=1
Quick note on how to pronounce the name: "ä" as far as I can tell is pronounced as kind of a cross between the English short a and long a vowel sounds. "Jä" is pronounced kinda like "yä" with the same vowel sound.
You should check Serbia. Last two years Serbia choosed unique songs. Last year it end up on fifth place with criticism of global health system. This year was completely different with electro sound. Serbia won Eurovision with ballad Molitva (Prayer) in 2007 and was second in 2004 and third in 2012 when Loreen won first time with Euphoria.
The best vocals in this years Eurovision final was Estonia (Alika - Bridges). Finished 8th. Would be very interesting to hear your reaction to her performance.
I LOVED the performance and voted for it from Ukraine. My other vote went for Slovenia - they were really great too, and during the ESC they became great friends with Kaarija! Check them out if you have a minute =))
I'm Italian but I was rooting for Finland (with my two kids) like mad! We didn't care much for Sweden (Loreen is a great artist, but "Tattoo" sounds like it was written by AI) and we didn't really care about Italy winning, though we're fond of Marco Mengoni. Finland was our winner of choice!!! I don't know what it was about this guy, but he got everyone fired up with his bonkers song and persona, really capturing the spirit of Eurovision perfectly. His song, which is not exactly in the style I normally listen to, is infectuous and not as shallow as one might think at first - in a nutshell it's about social anxiety. So sorry that he didn't win, I think this was something different that united everyone for real and Loreen had already won in the past anyway - it's like Sweden are so used to winning, they're only marginally happy when they do. But it would have meant the world to Finland to win!
You're spot on. Finland would have exploded over a win!! We did it already getting second and winning the public vote 💚🥳🔥. Thank you for rooting for Käärijä!
Well, i have half an hour to try to explain finnish...language before i have to go to buy more beer as they don't sell it after 21. anyways i haven't heard anybody, who moved here, to speak even close to native finnish. When somebody comes here and learns language it's formal. We don't speak formal language. It's like going to England and from city to city it's different. It actually takes time with their pronuncitation. It helped me to watch great series : an idiot abroad. That's about it I think lol
Also if you want to know the exact thing he is talking about, he is talking about going to the club and drinking pina coladas. He wants to go dance, but he is not brave enough. Symbolised by the dancers on the leash trying to pull him onto the dancefloor. Then once he had enough pinacoladas he let's go and goes all out and that is when the nerdy dance comes out but he thinks he is awesome. Hopefully that explains why he tries to look so awkward in the performance, he is an awkward man getting over his inner inhibitions with the help of alcohol. If you see the song with this context you can see why the dance is the way it is, also he says pina colada like 4 times in the song. Fun note, in finland rum and pinapple juice was sold out in almost every store for eurovision. Edit: I saw someone translated the lyrics already, so guess this was redundant

@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach This is very common finnish drinking song. Often they don't have the party aspect at all. They can have really deep lyrics. "Työttömyys, viina, kirves ja perhe - Lumihanki, poliisi ja viimeinen erhe" (unemployment, booze, axe, family, snowdrift, police, last mistake), one of the most popular finnish songs.
The fact that he's vocal technique drops a little bit in quality after the change in the middle of the song just adds to the meaning of the song. Who sings great when they are pissed?
@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach He wasn't drunk during the performance. But in the first part of the song he is thinking about getting drunk, and preparing for getting drunk and starting to drink a lot. The second part is when the alcohol hits the head and he has had so many Pina coladas that all he can do is dancing "ugly dance" on the dancefloor and pour champagne on himself. And the last 3 seconds of the national UMK performance he plays with being so exhausted that he looks like sleeping with the mouth open.
If you found this fun, I highly recommend checking out some of Electric Callboy's music videos. Its a band you really want to go into blind with no expectations, but its worth it and a very fun time! Their first huge hit was Hypa Hypa
Thats what im telling people who say this song was robbed of a win. I tell them they should be happy with 2nd cause compared to Loreen this guy doesnt even hold a candle in singing capabilities. It was just a catchy song that people went crazy about and they thought this was suppose to win. But his new fans tend to be a bit toxic
Tattoo wasn't a bad song, and Loreen can obviously sing very well, but as a whole, her performance was... lackluster? I don't know what word to use, but it was not Eurovision winner material, I have heard songs like Tattoo a thousand times before, cha cha cha was unique and crazy and party, and the public loved it
His experience at Eurovision has planted in him a desire to be able to sing like Loreen; so he may be in the market for a vocal coach, because he doesn't sound very much like her at the moment.
@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach So there is no metal. It is a more hardcore pop song. Edit; Leo Moracchioli did make a Metal Cover of this song, however. And it is pretty dang good. You should check it out!
Seinen Haarschnitt hat er bei den Romulanern geklaut (unfortunately), aber davon abgesehen ist der Typ schon eine Sahneschnitte, oder 😁 Für mich der wahre ESC-Gewinner 2023!
You should check the performance of Germany. It was the best performance of the contest. They got the last place because of the politics got in as always but I’m sure that you would like it. Lord of the Lost - Blood & Glitter
I think it was more because everyone rallied behind Finland to win. He was the alt sounding act that got the most votes, the more alt voters wanted him to win over Loreen so they all voted for him instead of Germany or Australia. Voyager won their semi, but got so little televotes in the final because they all voted Finland instead.
@@Nikki-rx8ri Voyager truly was amazing! I was really impressed when I heard their semifinal performance, esp. the growling break. Definitely will be checkout out their other stuff as well. Lord of the Lost I found to be quite generic metal, wasn't bad but wasn't fantastic either.
@@Nikki-rx8riYou are right about Finland. Its a catchy song and it was funny. People liked it. And I agree with all other you’re saying. The problem is since few years Germany always gets the last place. Even if they would send Rammstein or Scorpions there, they would probably get the last place too. I’m not sure but something is going on against Germany on Eurovision. There were a lot of bad songs and performances this year Serbia, UK, Ukraine, Croatia, Poland and few more. There was nothing special about their songs. At least Germany should have been on top of many songs and not at the bottom. Even they did not expect to win because how things were going for Germany in the past years but they didn’t expected to be last either.
@@nukkapukka5959hink their semi final performance was better than the grand final performance. Before the Eurovision started Voyager was one of my favorite but it didn’t felt strong on live performance. Something was missing. It was great but you could say while watching that they had no chance to win because it was not that powerful as the video clip. But still it was great. About Lord of the Lost. Its Eurovision, known as pop contest which is not. They probably could do more but they used 5-6 different genres in one song. Which is not easy to do. They did it in the vocals and the music. If you look at it as a hard rock / metal song yes but you have to look at the details, the changes, surprising effects, the support from the instruments to his vocals. There’s a lot of thing. It wasn’t just a song and thats what many people finds it fascinating. And all the other contestants had the vibe of as they were in a song contest. You could have feel it except Lord of the Lost. They performed as if they were on their own show.
The song is about social anxiety and the braveness to be yourself, dance even though you can't. With the help of a few pina coladas he loosens up and starts to dance. He is a huge Rammstein fan.
I see that from his tattoo! ❤️❤️ me too!
As the Rammstein symbol on his chest shows 😀 Great performance btw!
Drinking song
Actually the song is about our favourite passtime: drinking.
the song is also about how finnish people just are, we are a shy people and alcohol makes us open up
the fact he nearly slips when he starts running around the box and his voice didnt waver shows he is a real showman
Probably has happened before 😉
Yes, apparently the cable got stuck in rehearsal in Finland a couple of times, but never in Liverpool. He saw it out of the corner of his eye at the final at the last millisecond

Like a cha, cha, cha
And this world ain't making me scared no more
Like a cha, cha, cha
When champagne all over myself I pour

Cha, cha, cha, one eye keeps turning crossed too far
And talking is so hard when this different side of me does its part
Cha, cha, cha, I don't usually go and drop my guard, not me
But now I am that guy, now I am that guy

This icy shell is something I have to demolish
The floor is calling me when I’m no longer so frozen
Like a cha cha cha I am approachin’
Holding on the drinks with both hands tied on them like
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha, no
No, there’s no tomorrow when I grab a pint tightly like a
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha, no
wanna mess my head up and to free my mind of fear like a
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha, no
And I stay on this seat until I have to climb off it like a whoa
I head towards the dance floor
Like a cha cha cha
And this world ain’t making me scared no more
Like a cha cha cha
When Champagne all over myself I pour
Cha cha cha
One eye keeps turning crossed too far
And talking is so hard when this different side of me does its part
Cha cha cha
I don’t usually go and drop my guard, not me
But now I am that guy, now I am that guy
I head towards dance floor
Like a cha cha cha
And this world ain’t making me scared no more
Like a cha cha cha
When Champagne all over myself I pour
Like a cha cha cha
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha aa-aah
Like a cha cha cha
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha
Cha cha cha cha cha cha cha

Thank you!!! Wow so actually quite deep when you look at it.
@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach This is very common finnish drinking song. Often they don't have the party aspect at all. They can have really deep lyrics. "Työttömyys, viina, kirves ja perhe -
Lumihanki, poliisi ja viimeinen erhe" (unemployment, booze, axe, family, snowdrift, police, last mistake), one of the most popular finnish songs.
The fact that he's vocal technique drops a little bit in quality after the change in the middle of the song just adds to the meaning of the song. Who sings great when they are pissed?
You think he was drunk? I doubt it...
Käärjä may not have been my favourite, but I can't deny how contagious this song is!
...well, I can try and fail, I guess XD
This song has been living in my head for a whole year!!
If you found this fun, I highly recommend checking out some of Electric Callboy's music videos. Its a band you really want to go into blind with no expectations, but its worth it and a very fun time! Their first huge hit was Hypa Hypa
I think I know them already .... 🤔
💚❤️👍🏻👏🏻🇫🇮
Did you watch austria?
Is this Omega from Bad batch?😮
💪💪💪💚💚💚💚💚🥰💝
Your facial reaction when he started singing☠️
The second half (singing part)vis making fun of cliche schlager
💚💚💚💚💚U
This is visually like something out of JoJos bizarre adventures.
Hahahahha I could see that 🤣🤣🤣
Thats what im telling people who say this song was robbed of a win. I tell them they should be happy with 2nd cause compared to Loreen this guy doesnt even hold a candle in singing capabilities. It was just a catchy song that people went crazy about and they thought this was suppose to win. But his new fans tend to be a bit toxic
It won who deserved this year! Loreen was incredible, such an outstanding performance.
I like more the original mika's vplenu than copy paste tattoo.
Nah the people of Europe thought he sang just fine. The paid off jury didn't though. Landslide victory in peoples votes > jury's votes.
Hahhahahaha fantastic!! 🤣🤣🤣 I should hit him up!
Rammstein? Where is the metal, exactly? I must have missed it.
There is clearly a metal influence in the backing track.
@@ZoeStibiVocalCoach So there is no metal. It is a more hardcore pop song.
Edit; Leo Moracchioli did make a Metal Cover of this song, however. And it is pretty dang good. You should check it out!
She was ralking about the tattoo.
She was talking about the tattoo on his chest, however I can strongly hear song called Tattoo by Rammstein from this song's beat.
Hey Christopher, I took a look at it. A bloody fantastic song I agree with you! Absolutely insane it did so badly!
I think this performance cost him the win. If he'd been able to do the singing part live he'd taken the win.
Correct the title with ‘Rammstein’
Lol thanks Daniel missed that one ❤️
To be honest I don't get was is so amazing about this song. It is a crazy song, but not a winning one.
scooooter
Finnish drinking song 🎉🎉 Hard to explain lyrics better.
Song is about drinking and partying. But we Finns are quiet ppls, we don't do that.
We are just pathetic.
Häh?
Alkoholista
You pronounce every finnish word the exact same way its written. in this case Käärijä is pronounced Kää-ri-jä. You still need to know how to say Ä
the techno part was 100% great then the song turns into a stupid melody ??? very strange, I'm very disappointed by the song
rammsetin, you mean Rammstein? really?
I caught the same vibe........
Of course! And Kaarjia has a Rammstein tattoo 😂 He's a Rammstein fan
