The Orland Park Gino’s East was the best of all. It had Sam Adams on tap and it was always nice and cold. It was our favorite pizza place.

Best Pizza I've ever had. Used to go there all the time. Always took my dates there and every one of the tables have the proof scribbled in permanent marker. a couple dozed notches on that marker holster ;-) Even ordered em from the boat, pulled up the the breakwall at Burnham harbor, zip across Lake Shore Drive, grab them, the head back out for Venetian night! Awesome!

I have had their pizzas in the 70 s And it was fantastic it has not changed either it is still fantastic I have to tell you when you get a chance to go to Chicago and get yourself one you will not regret it but bring some French you are not gonna be able to eat the whole thing by yourself if you do my hats off to you enjoy

if I had to guess , the crust is golden hue because of butter and turmeric similar to when you see a Jamaican patty . I do not know if they would invest butter into the crust since its expensive but the turmeric is a cheap investment to get the colour for sure .

As a Chicagoan male in my mid 50s , all I remember growing up in the 70s we used to call this tourist deep dish pizza. The real Chicago pizza is the thin crust Tavern style pizza cut in squares , now you’re talking about the real original Chicago Pizza.👍

It is the problem i have with some Chicago pizzas. The cheese usually serves as a binding agent but that is generally impossible when the pie is several inches thick. If you can deep throat a pizza vertically then probably best to use a fork.

The reason why the Crust is such a dark yellow is because they use egg yokes and no egg whites when making their crust. Or more egg yolks than whole eggs. They use the same trick when making some of the best hot dog buns ever made.
Basic rules of a proper pizza build. Dough, sauce. Cheese then Toppings. At EOC we used to be forced to put pepperonis under the cheese which made the peps soggy and all the greese would soak into the sauce.
The 'cheese pull' was the most anticlimactic thing I've seen in recent memory 😂

Also, my guess as to the reason it's a golden hue is they may incorporate a processed corn or egg yolk ingredient whether it be corn flour or whatever else.

It has a golden hue because it’s a cornmeal crust. I’ve been going to this place since I was three years old in downtown Chicago where it began on Rush Street. It takes like 45 minutes to an hour just to get seated and then another 45 minutes for your pizza, but it’s worth it. Awesome iconic pizza restaurant! Some of the best deep dish you will ever have!! Don’t buy the frozen ones in the store they suck!
