    I own two of your vocal processor's but did not want to purchase a third one because the lack of basic video instructions.
    65% of all people are visual
    So a paper manual even a well written only gets about 35% of your buyers.
    Thank you for slowing down and giving us basic much-needed visual instruction

    The unit is fantastic for my duo act, adds the 3/4 th harmonies. With a full band I have a hard time getting the signal hot enough. Would you recommend using a stereo direct box to get a better cleaner signal? This product is a game changer, we're now doing CSN songs that sound amazing!

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  7 лет назад

      That's so awesome to hear Julius! The outs on VK are balanced, so you can just run 1/4" TRS to XLR cables directly to the FOH, mixer, snake etc. There won't be any increase in signal clarity to go to a DI, as far as I know.

    A demo of musical chairs!! I love the TC-HELICON line..I actually have a Bachelor's in Voice...these magical boxes would make performances go so much better for anyone. Great for practice, great for performance and great for recording!! I have a question..when You put into a daw do you and your harmonies go on one track or does it separate each voice? Thanks for taking time to answer my question! I'm personally interested in the TC-HELICON 3 EXTREME but since I'm in a wheelchair and on disability it will take a while to save for one...I'm amazed how much the technology has improved!! Just awesome!! The musicians you had on were very talented! It's really cool to see this kind of demo! Well, thanks again for all you guys do and demo!!😎😎 I'm on the State of Ohio in the USA!!

      Thanks for the kind words David!
      We do have separate USB out for harmony voices, but since there's up to 8 voices, it's a mix. I think, but don't quote me, that if it's two voices of harmony they may be hard panned in the output so you can separate them onto two DAW tracks.

    Is very useful and more educational when Craig ask Tom to slow down and show us how it really works.

    Fun & informative video - as usual. BTW: "I'm Andrew, a jazz drummer/campfire guitar player from Edmonton." (woot woot). Quick question: is Caesha Craig's sister/cousin? If not, it sure looks like otherwise :-) It was also fun to see each performer's eyes light up when the effects kicked in. Kudos performers & producers!

    I just got this unit, was wondering is there a way for it to remember the chord pressed (using midi) even without playing on the keyboard? for example when there's a break or tacet in the song the harmony went off when I'm not playing the keyboard. Thanks!

    So far I narrowed down my choice to the VK for adding only the vocal harmony feature to my performance. All other effects are on my digital mixer, so they are not needed on the VK for my use. My question, can I use a simple on-off footswitch to turn harmony on and off, or do I need to use a dedicated footswitch?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад

      You should maybe also have a look at our Harmony Singer stomp box. You can run either keys or guitar through it for the harmonies.

      I wound up buying the VK, since I need the midi in feature. I'm using it with an auto-accompaniment keyboard, so it's outputting drums and other instruments into the VK. I made a simple one function footswitch, using a spare Yamaha sustain pedal. Works pretty good, and will use it for the first time on a gig this coming week.

    Great demo however....yea...there is a "but" lol. Could you do a video on the MIDI side of it like setting up splits etc etc. The VK is an awsome bit of hardware but more than half of its capabilities dont get covered and there isnt really many training/technical videos about it...and most of them are old now.
    Oh oh oh....also beaming...i got into a huge hole of beaming a "Radio" effect into my VK on preset one. It beamed into the "Green" lit button not the blue HIT somehow. No matter what i did it wouldnt go away and wouldnt allow me to even beam another one in....it i would say was an EQ setting to get the Radio effect (turned harmony, delay and reverb off) with no way of editing it. Soooo....complete factory reset was the only option.
    Also....the VK? Best bit of gear for harmonies for a keyboardist out there period. 🎹🎙👍

    I’m confused with no mic out how does this connect to my Pa? Assuming the keyboards and vocals go into the same input? Not sure how that’s controllable. If I manually turn my keyboard up or down as per the songs being different sounds. How would this work? Thank you.

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад +2

      The correct setup is to run the main outs to your mixer. They're TRS and will work great. The design intent, as with a lot of our other processors with external input for keys (treating them like an Aux input) is that you set the vocal gain first and that becomes your reference. If your keys are too loud or quiet, you'd simply adjust the level at the keys. The signal coming from VK gives you a mixed mono/stereo output of the relationship you set.

    • @JerryMacHomes
      @JerryMacHomes 6 лет назад +1

      TC Helicon ok thank you. I shall purchase and attempt. Prob is I play in a decently loud band. So that’s why them going into the same input makes me a bit Leary. Thank you

    • @justaname1862
      @justaname1862 6 лет назад +4

      Jerry Mac .. I have a Perform VK and i think use it similar to you. First up...i found out if you just use the "Left" out for vocals it is the sum of both L and R (mono). That way obviously you only need one channel on your desk.
      Second.... I run my main keyboard headphone output to the aux in, of the VK for it to get key tracking etc. Doing all this gives me the option of mixing my keyboards seperate on the desk rather than juggling the levels of both vox and keys going through the VK. Obviously you have to hold down the headphone button on the VK while inserting the 3.5mm aux lead into the aux of the VK, otherwise keys will come out of the VK's outputs as well...not good.
      So what does this method do? I can mix keys through the bands desk totally seperate to the Vocals coming out of the VK wich now only takes up one channel (the "L" output) anyway...you have probably worked all that out by now lol....but hope it might have been some help. The VK is an awsome bit of gear...best ive used to get harmonies...and really the only option for keys players...23'000 available for guitarists lol.

    • @officialWWM

      Just Aname that is a great solution to the problem, I never thought of doing that! I hate having both the keys and my mic going to the same channel, sound guys look at me like I'm crazy! I also hate giving them a trs lead for a mic! It should have balanced xlr outs.

    Hey there. I wanna buy this one. The only thing that concerns me - is latency an issue? I mean, is there a lag between the dry sound and harmonies? also, is the pitch correction following the chords given by my keyboard via midi?
    Thanks for the help..

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Moin! That's rad :-) There is no audible latency between the lead vocal and harmonies - it's crazy how instantaneous it is. However, you need to make sure that when you're switching chords in the progression, that you always play the chord on the one of the bar to let the unit know that it's harmonizing to a new chord before/while you're singing it. (Just a little tip there ;-) Our pitch correction is chromatic and will shift the note you're singing into pitch. I recommend just one or two bars of pitch correction for it to sound natural. Hope you like it! Thanks for singing with us!

  • @beatles7798
    @beatles7798 7 лет назад +1

    Also, is there a way to turn off the raw vocals coming out when you're in Notes Mode? So that you could sing in chords without the sound of the actual note you're singing?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  7 лет назад +2

      I know for sure we can do that in some other products via a "Lead Mute" setting, but I'm not sure on VK. My gut says no, but I'll double check and get back to you if you can do it.

    soy tecladista y cantante (utilizo un korg pa 600) con el cual disparo sus estilos y voy cantando. acompaño mi vos pulsando los acordes con la mano izquierda en modo chord (one finger: pulso una tecla para marcar notas mayores y dos teclas juntas para las menores).
    la pregunta es la siguiente: utilizando el recurso midi
    1. ¿el midi puede leer esto? es decir, tomar el chord como nota de referencia (clave o escala) para controlar las armonías? (notese que no me estoy refiriendo al modo notas que en verdad no me interesa mucho )
    necesito armonías seguras que no desafinen en modo chord es por ello que recurro al recurso midi...anteriormente he tenido un tc helicon play acustic lo conectaba a la entrada de mi teclado para que tome la nota de referencia y no quede satisfecho con sus resultados
    En caso de que el Vk pueda hacer esto (tomar el chord como clave de referencia para las armonías) ¿podría ayudarme en como configuro mi teclado con el vk para que esto sea posible?.... les agradecería si realizan un vídeo con el vk y un teclado arranger.
    2.A través del midi puedo cambiar el tipo de armonía: por ejemplo: (pasar de una armonía alta a una armonia baja) asignando dicha función a algún botón de mi teclado arranger (korg pa 600).

    Hi! I am musician from Russia and I purchased TC Helicon Perform VK.
    I was very disappointed with the fact, that the device doesn’t work as it described in manual:
    - AUX can be muted only with INST-IN;
    - the harmony is recognizing from both INST-IN and AUX at the same time.

    I just wanted to use this device as mixer also, but now I need additional mixer :-\
    Nobody nowhere write about these features, the manual says it should work another way.

    Can you say me, please, how it works in your case? Is it a common manual/engineer mistake or do I have defective device?
    It's not very easy to understand if AUX & INST-IN are harmonizing together (I hear it, because the bass line in AUX mix, that makes my harmonizer "flow".
    But you can easily test at least how works AUX muting (you need to press "headphones" button during AUX cable connection). If INST-IN is also muted, it is wrong.
    I returned my device to online shop, because I thought it's works wrong. Now I am going to take it back. Answer me, please as soon, as you can.

    Thank You.

    any chance of implementing 1)Optical Output? I know there are adaptors available from local audio / computer stores.
    2) ground loop isolator on the Aux in for Laptop users?

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  7 лет назад

      No plans to put optical out on our gear that I know of. We've had SPDIF coax in the past but I don't think that's likely to return either, now that we can do multi-channel USB. We suggest going analog to an interface if you want to sample at really high rates/depth.
      Not sure if we can put an isolator into the products. It's definitely a bit of an issue with computers, since their grounds tend to be dodgy at best. I'll bring it up with the hardware devs to see if there's anything we could do differently in the future.

    hi , Am Chris I bought Tc Helicon VK but am a bit disappointed the the tone is not giving me the kind of hardtune i was expecting from the unit. Although i like the quality of the voice but I bought it expecting to have similar hardtune like on the Pa4x and on the Voicelive touch 2. Could you suggest to Tc Helicon to give us an update that allows us to tune in the level of Hard tune the customers want instead of that minimal fixed to it produces? Thanks

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад +1

      There's a tricky balance of "depth" and ease of use for the Perform series. They're intended to give a lot of sounds but not a ton of deep control. Have you checked out the beamable presets? There are quite a few to choose from and if memory serves there's some of the HardTune styles that are less aggressive than "pop".

      Tap the "Set" button briefly. That will turn the control knob LED ring red, showing the current mic level. Use the knob to turn it up/down and then leave it for a few seconds to save and time out back to the normal controls.

    Does this unit work well as a standalone unit? I know it's meant for key players, but I'm interested in the VK over the other model for those built-in harmonies...

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  7 лет назад +3

      You need to send some sort of audio for key/scale detection for the harmonies to work correctly. VK is definitely more geared towards keyboardists, just based on the inputs/MIDI etc.
      If you're referring to Perform-V as the other unit, you can actually do harmony on it. There's a bunch of harmony presets available in the app. Check the app store or google play to find it. When you have the app, there's a fair number of harmony presets that are set to a predetermined key/scale so you don't need an instrument input.

    The hit... Doesn't work... You Can download the app... For hit... But it Doesn't work.... It's a shame... I spoke to someone at the Company... And there's nothing they can or will do to help! So I paid 299.and Can't beam in sounds...😑

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад +1

      Hmm that's odd. I've definitely had it work before. Sometimes the beamed sounds can not "take" or don't have a "hit" assigned. Like, if the preset has "Harmony" as the HIT target, there's already a Harmony button on the product so "hit" doesn't apply to that effect. If it's something the product doesn't have a button for, like transducer, then it'll work for Hit.

  • @officialWWM
    @officialWWM 4 года назад

    This is a fun toy but I'd never use it at a pro gig :/ it needs separate outputs for the keyboard and the mic to the mixer! No sound engineer in his right mind would take this thing seriously if I hand him one pair of trs leads for both the mic and keyboard! It's obviously designed for people who have no clue what they're doing.

    • @kieranmacdonald7914
      @kieranmacdonald7914 3 года назад +2

      I guess you could just use an aux send from the mixing board with the keyboard signal in to the perform vk? Honestly dismissing this product without attempting to come up with a single workaround is indicative of someone who has no idea what they’re doing 😂

    • @officialWWM
      @officialWWM 3 года назад +2

      Kieran MacDonald mate, I've been a live performer and sound engineer for over 30 years and I own this thing. The point is, why should I have to come up with a work around? It requires a mic cable and 4 (!) trs cables to work! It also really needs the footswitch if you are going to use it live, which needs an expensive trrs cable! That's a lot of cables hanging out the back of your keyboard and at least an extra $250 if you don't own all that already! I also have the Play Electric. That can split the mic and guitar signals to the mixer, so why can't this thing? I've been thinking of doing a review video on this, you have just convinced me I should!

  • @electrolegs
    @electrolegs 6 лет назад

    No seperate outputs for main vocal and harmony means thus cannot be used professionally. No sound mixer wants both on the same channel. What were they thinking??

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад +1

      This product was intended more for gigging musicians that don't have the luxury of a soundman. It allows you to control your complete mix at the convenience that it's right in front of you and that it can go directly to a speaker system, bypassing a PA which is really great if you're playing solo. For more professional settings where you're playing larger rooms with sound people, we'd recommend our Touch 2 or Voicelive 3 products :-)

    • @electrolegs
      @electrolegs 6 лет назад

      Both situations could have been catered for in the product? It's marketed to 'professionals'. You're isolating and limiting its scope if sound men can't work with it. That's just my thoughts anyway.

    • @tchelicon
      @tchelicon  6 лет назад

      We agree - it would have been great to allow for separate instrument and voice lines to the PA - definitely will be considered for version 2.0!
