In a vacuum where there’s no churning, both WF & C1 have better card setups w/base earrings than Chase. But in the real world of churning, neither C1 or WF have the churnability w/no AF cards with crazy value like the Ink cards. Once you get the welcome offers w/C1 & WF, you’ll have to spend a ton to generate the points you could get churning Chase. (& Chase’s partners are better as you pointed out) Nice video Matt 👍🏽.
Absolutely! Yeah from a welcome bonus & travel upside standpoint, Chase is world's better, especially when you consider Cards like the Ink Cards. From a point-earning standpoint is where you could make the argument for WF or C1. Thanks so much for watching!
I currently have C1 Quicksilver and SavorOne. I am aiming for Wells Fargo trifecta mainly is because I wanna get Bilt eventually. I am attached as another user for a costco membership thus with WF autograph I can get 3% on gas as it is a visa whilst getting it cheap at costco gas. Phone plans is a plus since we got 5 lines. Streaming such as RUclips premium subscription and Transit as I go visit some areas that I don't wanna drive in like San Francisco. Good video!
Great breakdown of the Chase and WF Trifectas Matt! There's definitely a lot of different aspects to both, but right now WF has the better multipliers whereas Chase has the better transfer partners. I also think having the Autograph and Autograph Journey is a little redundant, and it may be better to fit a grocery card in there instead, like the C1 Savor One. And I agree, the Citi Trifecta is another great one to consider!
Absolutely! Yeah if you care more about the travel upside then go with Chase, but if point earning is where you value your Cards, then Wells Fargo could be an option. Definitely agree with you on both Autograph Cards being redundant as well, and there's where one option of getting the Autograph Journey for the bonus and then downgrading to the Autograph could be an option. But yes the Citi Trifecta is great as well! Thanks for watching Stan!
Getting a little creative, the CFF usually ends up being a good option for me for shopping for groceries which is one strength of the Chase trifecta for me. In addition to the grocery category quarter, we usually get the Amazon quarter when I can also get 5% back at Whole Foods, and the PayPal quarter now which I use to buy Walmart gift cards or shop directly from their website. So, I can get a lot of mileage out of those 5% categories. Of course for some people that won’t be the case at all depending on their shopping habits and the stores that are accessible to them.
That totally makes sense! I'm typically able to get more out of my CFF that I typically think as well. Like you, I'll also utilize the Amazon quarter at Whole Foods, and of course the Grocery Store quarter is great as well. Thanks so much for watching!
The biggest problem for me with both trifectas is grocery, which is my largest expense. I have the Chase trifecta and I'm on my second CFU which has 5x on groceries until August. I'm thinking that since i already have the VX I'll pick up the Savor One or maybe start the Citi trifecta. I am worried about my approval odds for the Citi Premier though. Great video.
Thanks so much for watching! The Citi Trifecta could definitely be a great option & you could utilize the Citi Custom Cash for 5x on Groceries if that was a huge priority for you.
@@MattWelterOfficialCiti Ccash has limit of $500 mo . Means u need 2 min just to be of any use. Meaning u need more than 3 cards for good setup. To much work 4 me
Great breakdown Matt!! Both ecosystems have their strengths and weaknesses. I have the Chase trifect with the CSP currently and barely use any of them. I have my home mortgage with Wells as well as a checking account and I have the Bilt card too. Im leaning toward picking up a couple of Wells cards to be honest since i have a strong relationship with them. Great stuff man.
Thanks so much Jon! Yeah to be honest I rarely use my Chase Trifecta Cards at all either. Instead, I primarily use my Chase Cards for the Travel Upside. But totally makes sense on continuing the relationship with Wells Fargo as well.
Interestingly, if you’re willing to do some gymnastics (and the spend supports it), you could use the Wells duo to feed either w a Chase or Citi set up through Flying Blue or British Airways. You’d get stronger protections with Chase but terrible earnings with the Sapphire Preferred. I feel like a set up of a CSR/CIP, Ink Cash, Autograph and Active Cash could go FAR….still no grocery though
Agreed! In reality, while a single Trifecta Setup can be strong, there's always upsides & downsides on each of them, and having some sort of cross-platform exposure, to both add to travel partner flexibility & solve some of the problems of point earning or travel upside can be huge. Some sort of blend between Chase & Wells Fargo could definitely make sense. Thanks Matt!
Chase sapphire Prefered has 3% online groceries. And Kroger/king soopers app you can upload your sapphire Prefered to it. Then when you pay at the check out you use the app and the barcode and it registers your spend as 3%. Even doing that for 2 years now
Great comparison! I love my Chase UR points but if WF can get some more solid transfer partners they’ll be onto something. Also really like the free duo after getting the large SUB with the journey, that’s actually genius
Exactly- the duo is so underrated since the regular autograph gives you the same travel partner upside. Going for the higher bonus on the autograph journey and then downgrading is a great option. Thanks so much Cody!
Great stuff Matt! I liked learning a bit more about these Wells Fargo cards! Good point at the end about not necessarily needing the trio, dropping the journey and going with the Duo only. Makes sense for sure, unless someone just wanted those welcome offer points haha. Great video Matt!
Absolutely! Yeah always the option to go for the Journey simply for the welcome bonus, but in most cases I think you'll be perfectly fine running with the $0 Fee Duo, and usually won't need the Journey. Thanks so much!
WF for cash back and Chase for travel is how I’m approaching it. I have both and the SUB makes no difference to me-I’ll hit $1000 of spend in three months no problem.
Wait…you have the Bilt card right? That’s Wells Fargo and depending upon your request/concern, you may very well need to deal with Wells Fargo and let me tell ya….nah, I’ll keep it to myself 😂
I already have the chase trifecta, trying to finished my Amex trifecta I only need the platinum, I do want to get the wells Fargo trifecta, Us bank trifecta the GO, Connect and Reserve
Now this is a breakdown. I’m excited for Wells Fargo because I have BILT. If they add more transfer partners and a CSR competitor, they have a major opportunity to destroy Chase and Amex.
Which Setup are you rolling with? Let me know ⬇

Fax. If u churn, chase and managing 5/24 is the plan. But when I’m done in 2025 (for a bit), it’s simply cap1 duo and maybe USBAR.

Already have the active cash and regular autograph. Need a wells fargo card with some sort of lounge access and I'll completely switch over.
Will be interesting to see how lounge benefits progress on the Wells Fargo Cards! Thanks so much for watching!

Yes Sir! 👍
Yessir, thanks so much for watching!
Great job on RUclips ❤
Thanks so much Vicki, always really appreciate your support!
Wells Fargo has a mandatory 6-month wait in between cards. Choose your timing of two consecutive new cards wisely.
Thanks so much for pointing that out- great point!
Wait…you have the Bilt card right? That’s Wells Fargo and depending upon your request/concern, you may very well need to deal with Wells Fargo and let me tell ya….nah, I’ll keep it to myself 😂
Haha yes I do have the Bilt Card! Haven't really ever needed to speak to customer service though haha. Thanks for watching CJ!
I already have the chase trifecta, trying to finished my Amex trifecta I only need the platinum, I do want to get the wells Fargo trifecta, Us bank trifecta the GO, Connect and Reserve
Nice! Sounds like you'll have a ton of flexibility & options of different Cards & Setups to choose from!
The shirt and simple answer is…CAPITAL ONE DUO 💡💡
That's a great option!
Gotta add the chase Amazon card. It also has 2% for gas stations
The Chase Amazon Card is a great Card! Thanks for watching!
👍🏻

Agreed- Super pumped to see what sort of travel partners Wells Fargo adds to the program in the future! Thanks so much for watching Elliott!
First!
Super close one, Sox Gators barely got it though, 🥈
