So one reason to avoid the Venture X is that CO removed a benefit from two other cards, the Venture Rewards and Spark Miles? I can't see choosing or avoiding cards based on this kind of speculation.

For me, it's my favorite all-around travel card. I have a Chase Sapphire lounge at my own airport, and then there are Chase Sapphire lounges at both the LGA and JFK airports, which I frequent. Even with the increased annual fee from $450 to $550, it's easy for me to make that up by getting 5x when looking through the portal for airlines and 10x for hotels. Prices are more often than not the same one booking. Only Rewards program I care about is Hyatt. Once I re-up for Globalist every year at 60 nights by booking directly, it's pretty easy to have a short stay (3-4 days) at a random boutique hotel at 10x multipliers to earn quite a bit of points to offset when booked through the portal.

Wouldn't you get more SUB rewards from getting a new Platinum card rather than upgrading the Gold card? For example, you might get 150K to 175K on a new platinum, but only 100K for the upgrade. In one of your videos, you hinted that you might both get a new Platinum card and upgrade the Gold card to a platinum. Is that even possible?

I have seen in 2024 some amazing transfer bonuses with Chase. I love the 50% in the portal which is amazing. I currently have been using the chase trifecta with the CSP and have gained a lot of points with it especially with the freeom flex rotating categories. Pretty powerful.

I am finally under 5/24 in January and hope I can get another Ink card since I haven't gotten one since 1/2023 and low on Chase points (probably Ink Unlimited). Hope to dump my Amex Hilton Business card in next few months to free up an Amex spot just not sure of the replacement for it yet (Marriott personal, another Hilton personal, or Delta Biz Platinum are all possibilities). Down to 1/24 in March and most likely will try to add a couple of additional Chase cards like Hyatt or Southwest.

100% agree about Hyatt property changes. My prediction on this, is Hyatt will stop announcing which category changes will occur.

Can you still get the quarterly $50 credit from the Surpass Card if you purchase a Hilton gift card online? Or can it only be in person at a Hilton property?

I had the CO1 Savor card I accidentally product changed it for a second Quick silver card by accident The savor card only had very low CL of $300. I used my savor for food or gas when needed wish I could product back to it. Missed that card 😰😡

I have all but abandoned all hotel points except Hyatt. Starwood used to be a good value, but Marriott ruined it. Hilton is horrible as well. Both of those programs require 3-5 times the points per night as Hyatt - am i wrong about this?

I have the budget version. The Venture and the Savor. I mainly use my Savor for Entertainment

Good video and nice to know that you will fly to Taiwan from Seattle. I strongly recommend flying an Asian based airline instead of Delta, as you will get much better service and food that way. I made some videos about this earlier. Suggestions: Starlux or EVA Air, as both fly this route and I've been on this route also. If you need hotel suggestions, let me know also as I often go to TW.

My roadmap for 2025 includes getting the BILT by mid-year to pay for my daughter's rent in college. I am hoping to also be able to pay my mortgage with BILT in the near future. I'm at Chase 5/24 so I am using my 14 cards for most of 2025 and then have my player 2 (wife) qualify for the SW CP in early 2026.

Lol, I'm pretty sure I accidentally coined the term credit card roadmap in an article on the no longer existing pioneer finance blog posted in Jan 2023. (Or maybe it was multiple independent evolutions of the same terms as like Spencer said, it's similar to other ways to say the same thing) I definitely didn't popularize it but I'm glad it got used.

Have both. Barely use them because the travel partners are garbage.

Verizon customers: If you are currently enrolled in Autopay for your cell phone bill you get a $10 perline discount on your bill. If you switch to paying your bill with the Venture X card you lose that discount. In my case I pay for 3 lines of service so I would lose a $30 per month discount. Your mileage may vary. Just consider this before switching.

As a AMEX gold user and I got it after the annual fee increase. The Savor is a fantastic secondary card for me because some restaurants and grocery stores that I use about roughly 50% don’t accept AMEX. And not to mention having 3% worldwide on groceries compared to AMEX. I just got the Savor card with the bonus spend 500 and get 200. And in about 4-6 months I will apply for the Venture X to unlock the main reason my main transfer partner Asia Miles. So my set up will be the Gold, Savor, and Venture X. I really hope AMEX really follow the lead and let us that have the AMEX Blue Cash Everyday card to transfer to MR points. I build up quite a bit lol. Secondly if Capital One releases a 0 annual fee card that gives 3% on transportation that is a big spending category for me so I don’t have to consider adding another annual fee for the Green card depending on the refresh.

Unfortunately for me, this would never happen. I cant qualify for the Venture card and Cap1 only approves me for the non-bonus Savor card.

My c1 duo is the fee free version. VentureOne and quicksilver. Neither card gets much spend, but the qs internationally 1.5ppd on everything else is kinda nice actually

Solid travel duo, with the prices of the Amex Platinum set to go up and the endless credits on it the Venture X takes the spot as the best current travel card. The Savor card is an excellent 3x card that captures most folks spend and can be transferred for travel value with the 2x catch all on the Venture X sealing the deal!

I just got Savor card two weeks ago; Capital One pulled my Equifax and Trans Union in NY state . Glad they didn’t pull all three.

I have this duo and after I use all my miles I will possibly cancel these cards. Have no need for them. Rather keep a minimalist setup.

The Priority Pass membership included with the C1VX for me is also a huge feature. My home airport is SFO (which doesn't have a Capital One Lounge) but you get access to the other lounges there as well as TONS of lounges internationally. Lounge hopping is such a great time killer, I almost enjoy going to the airport now.

I'm working on finishing some sign up bonus over the next month or two. After that I think I'm going to focus on using my C1 duo until we have a vacation in the fall. I want to be able to use the points between now and then to pay myself back for some train travel abroad. I know it's not the best use of points, but none of my Chase or C1 cards have foreign trains in their portals. At least with paying myself back I am making use of some of the points.

I've been using the Capital One Duo of Venture X and Savor since August of 2022. It has worked very well for me.

I have the VX for the lounge access, but put zero spend on it because I'm not interested in their travel partners. As such, I value Capital One miles at just $0.01. I feel I get much more value with the Chase CSP Trifecta, and now with the Citi trifecta, assuming we'll be able to transfer to AA.
