This is why I love RUclips. Incredible work documenting such an amazing experience. The way the children bond so quickly with you is as much a testament to your gentle spirit as the love the parents bestow on them. Praying for this beautiful family in the hands of Russian occupied Ukraine. Hoping those prayers they sent up each morning are heard and those children don’t have to watch Valerei get conscripted for Putin’s war.
That was very touching, I cried an ocean. There is something what I need to share with you. Watching all this episodes and aspecially the final one I found myself. Last year I traveled to Eritrea . I was staying in the very small and deep countryside. Not knowing any of local language or culture. I was learning it, while staying there. I was so far from what you nicely called 'comfort'. No electricity or running water. Noone talking my own language or English at least. I had to choose whether to love it or leave it. But I found something beautiful in the way people live there, that was so natural, that's how we used to couple of years ago in Europe as well. I feel stronger after that 8 weeks long adventure in Eritrea and I recommend to everyone this kind of experience because that what makes us stronger and smarter. Thank you Peter and big thanks to this fantastic family. You send a lot of love to all watchers. God bless you
Hi Anna, I'm glad this series moved you :) In a way Eritrea is like Ukraine in the warmth of its people. I'm glad you got to experience this. Where did you stay there? I also did a video in Eritrea if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/Z2YdevL7Ayc/видео.html
Peter Santenello you are completely right. I have been to both Eritrea and Ukraine and I find people similar in this two countries. In Eritrea most of time I was staying in a very small village called Shebini, which is about 45 minutes by walk from Mai-Dema. Probably you have not heard of it but you can trust me it's zone out of 'comfort',but the experience I got there you couldn't buy by any money. I have seen your video from Asmara and Dekamhare, enjoyed it a lot and now patiently waiting for series from Kiev 😀 good luck man
Hi Peter. Great Channel, fantastic episodes from Ukraine, emotional episode. Great job and you are a Beautiful Person. Do you know what's going on with them recently? All the Best, my Man... ❤
Peter, you are so sensitive and in tune with people, that's why language is not a barrier for you. You connect with people in a way that is so much deeper. That is why I love your videos. I am learning so much and I see the world in such a good way. There are great people everywhere! Thank you so much!
2 years on Peter how is that gorgeous family going? Will you revisit them anytime?? All 7 episodes just viewed them and the tears were flowing. Having that human interaction you can't beat it ! Safe travels 2020
I sat here an watched your video ... I'm 66 from Pennsylvania , an I too cried when you had to leave .. sometimes you meet people that become family to you ... ❤
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️ Dam Peter. You truly are the best content creator on RUclips. No question. I only recently have followed you but came across a dozen or so of your videos because I love to watch documentary videos. The algorithm has lead me to you brother. Words cannot express how humbled and grateful and a part of me feels a bit terrible about myself. Watching you live and participate in this ukrainian family’s lives makes me truly put things into perspective here where I live and how I live. I watched your videos about your Moloka’i trip and I commented that I am from the big island. We Americans can’t complain. Of course our country isn’t perfect but we sure as hell can humble ourselves more often. I don’t speak for all but the American mindset has truly become a bit of an embarassing thing. The Americans can learn alot from these people who have such simplicities and are some of the happiest people on the planet. Truly you are a gem. I absolutely love your content and look forward to many more. Much love and Aloha brother🙏🏼❤️🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
This has been the most beautiful content to watch on RUclips. Thank you for documenting your adventure in the countryside of Ukraine, you truly manage to show the most beautiful in us humans. Very touching.
Peter, I just came upon this video this morning as I'm doing laundry. Emotion and genuine love is all I feel now! Ukraine is and will always be in my heart and prayers💙💛 May God help us☮🙏
Peter, this is most touchy, incredible and sincere videos that i've watched in a long time. You were able to translate a true feeling of simplicity and freedom of a soul in its core. Thank you so much for being able to capture and pass it on as is. It's art. That's what it makes it real and genuine. Keep up your unique open mindedness in what you do the best. Looking forward to follow your work.
Thank you so much for this message! I tried my best to capture this feeling that can't be showing easily so thank you for noticing this. More work coming soon. Thank you for your support :)
Oh my word…. My heart has just burst into a million pieces. The love that was shown here… it was truly beautiful. A real and honest family bond. I cried so much. I cannot imagine leaving such a beautiful family. The intensity of emotions has me grieved. And, as much as reality dictates our lives go back to normal after such a trip, how can they? Sure, the sadness will subside as life continues, but the space they occupied in your heart will never go away. You are an amazing person, Peter. I think the way you reach out to people outside of your norm is so commendable. I’m blown away by your compassion and zeal for the lives of those around you. I’m working my way through every video you’ve made and I have yet to be disappointed. Thank you for documenting this soul-changing experience. And to your hosts, thank you for allowing us all to see inside your beautiful, loving, and truly special home. May we all strive to see through such vivacious, compassionate, and loving eyes. 💕💕
I loved this series, well done! I have spent a lot of time in Dnipro and I find the people warm, friendly and inviting. I hope more people realize how beautiful Ukraine and it's people are after seeing this. Your message of stepping out of your comfort zone is spot on! Cпасибо Peter!
I was shocked a little bit by the snails and frogs and other stuff, at first. But you really opened this family to me. Great deal, you showed Ukraine not only for foreigners, but for us too) Thanks for your cool project and videos) Respect!
I’ve had snails before, at a nice restaurant. They weren’t that bad. Had a slight “dirt” taste; were nothing to write home about. Definitely NOT worth the price the restaurant charged. lol
This was very emotional. Brought memories when I married into an Iranian family here in the Bay Area. Learning the language and customs were a bit of a challenge and I was surprise you did so much in a 6-weeks period of time. Your work Peter is unique and this episode clearly shows your genuineness and honesty in journalism and is prelude of great things to come from you. Thank you.
I’m crying ….. wow. Just beautiful. So real. Those kids just absolutely loved you. As well as the parents. What a beautiful family. Each one of them !!! Absolutely heart warming.
Excellent ending! My heart breaks for the little girl! I'm sure she will miss you so much as you miss all of them! What a sweet series! Thanks for allowing us all a peak into an extra-ordinary life!
Hi Beth, Thanks for watching and your kind comments :) And yes, I miss Alisa and the rest of the family already. I will see them in about 5 weeks though. Also, we'll be doing a series on Kyiv this fall. Best! Peter
All of these series capture the beauty, vulnerability and kindness of the Ukrainian people and how you have connected deeply with them. So raw, so beautiful. Thank you for sharing, Peter. God bless.
More people should experience walking in the shoes of others. What is normal for them seems incredible for us. Here we are a year later and my thoughts go to this family and many more families who still struggle to get back to their lives. They are not forgotten and we hope they are well. At a young age, I spent time in Serbia that forever changed my perspective on life. My hope is your videos will encourage many to get out of their comfort zones and live life as it should be, before they can't. Do something, anything that encourages one to learn what life is like outside their norm. I've enjoyed and learned so much about myself watching many of these videos but this series has touched me in ways that I didn't even see coming. Thank you!
I sit and cry. This is so touching! May God bless this family. May God bless you, Peter! Thank you for your experience. This is our experience too. A person lives and does not appreciate what he has. Thinks that somewhere better. And all the beauty, depth and magic around him does not see, does not appreciate. Good luck and good to you!
Peter this series was amazing! What a wonderful family. I'm not sure if you will see my comment, but I'm a Canadian who is moving to Kiev in September, and I want to thank you because your blog post about your first three months living in Kiev was my initial inspiration, so thank you so much for that, and also for this wonderful series :)
What a great adventure, and experience. And what beautiful memories. I felt the raw emotion. Thank you to the family, and to all who participated in the making of this video, and for sharing your experiences with the rest of world. We are all in this life together. Make, and treasure, the precious memories along the way. 💜 Love your videos Peter. Thank you for capturing all of these awesome experiences on video. I can't believe it's been almost 6 1/2 years since this video came out. I remember watching it as a newb to the war in Ukraine. Yes, I knew what was happening back in 2014 but life was really busy for me then and also there were few videos that had accurate subtitles. Now, I'm wondering what happened to Valeriy's family, did they move to Russia? Did they flee? Did Valeriy join the army? Are they ok? I have so many questions, I'm sure we will never know the answers, but I hope the family is alive and well... and hopefully either still in Ukraine or somewhere safe in Europe.
really enjoyed this series of vids peter. i liive in tralee ireland and have a reasonable knowledge of russian language. this family are so natural and nice.

Artem, I've seen quite a few comments from you... thank you for your interest in this series! I'm so happy in what you've said here and what you've found in the series. Thanks for your continued support. We'll be doing a series on Kyiv this fall. Best! Peter
Thanks for your reply. Already familiar that something interesting is coming about Kyiv. I've told already in comments - unfortunately I'm not from Kyiv :) And, again unfortunately, I'm not sure I will be able to follow all of your future videos this fall, as I will be somewhere in the Seven Seas without an internet for long period of time :) Such is life, we need to earn money for worthy being
This is why I love RUclips.
God I hope they are OK.
I also did a video in Eritrea if you're interested:
ruclips.net/video/Z2YdevL7Ayc/видео.html
Are you still in touch with the family? I hope they are safe! Thanks for these touching moments. Love from Germany
Thanks Frederik! It was a really emotional experience for me and I'm glad that it touched you also. Best wishes to you and yours, Peter
7 years later watching this. What a great family. Enjoyed. Praying everything is good with them.
Thanks Mark! Much appreciated.
So pure and beautiful.
Beautiful family! The little girl stole my heart as well.
Peter, what a beautiful story. I'm in tears. I pray this family is well 🙏 ❤️
Gonna miss you all! I couldn't wait to watch every episode!
Peter, please don't disappear... I'm your follower now :)
Thanks Sergey! I promise to deliver to you. We'll be doing a series on Kyiv this fall so I won't be going away.
I felt that bro! Watched all 7 episodes non stop. I felt the connection. Beautiful family. THANK YOU!
This Video made me cry 😢😭 i hope peter will come back to osipenko and see valery family again. 💕
great family!
Peter, you are a wonderful person, you inspire to make life better. Thank you
Thank you Marinka :)
Such a beautiful family, that little girl is so adorable...Have you heard from them recently? How are they doing? I loved watching, thank you
I was shocked a little bit by the snails and frogs and other stuff, at first. But you really opened this family to me. Great deal, you showed Ukraine not only for foreigners, but for us too) Thanks for your cool project and videos)
Respect!
Respect to you Kostyntin! I'm glad you opened up to the family and the story. More videos to come... the next series will be on Kyiv.
I’ve had snails before, at a nice restaurant. They weren’t that bad. Had a slight “dirt” taste; were nothing to write home about. Definitely NOT worth the price the restaurant charged. lol
Wow thank you for sharing these moments with us. I had a similar life as this family when I was a child.
You're welcome Tuncay! Thanks for your support :)
Peter Santenello you are a great vlogger and I have learned a lot from you. Humility, courage, wisdom, I wish you all the best.
Thank you.
This might be one of the best “home videos” I’ve ever seen. Wow. You captured everything you needed to.
Oh my... you made me cry. Wish all of the best for you and your Ukrainian family! They are amazing
was bored, decided to go way way back on this channel and was not disappointed. this is magic.
You had to add the sad music, it made me cry. Thank you brother
That was an amazing series mate, thank you for the insight and telling us the story. Maybe time for a family reunion.
Good luck and come back
I’m crying ….. wow. Just beautiful. So real. Those kids just absolutely loved you. As well as the parents. What a beautiful family. Each one of them !!! Absolutely heart warming.
You have a good heart Peter
What a beautiful experience you gave yourself, Peter. I'm touched and appreciate your wisdom to accept the gift of connecting relationships.
Best! Peter
Please update us on this beautiful and exemplary family. Love is real 💖
Absolutely beautiful work Peter.
All of these series capture the beauty, vulnerability and kindness of the Ukrainian people and how you have connected deeply with them. So raw, so beautiful. Thank you for sharing, Peter. God bless.
Peter, big thanks for this incredibly touchy video about my long-suffering motherland! God bless you! For real!!!
Thank you!
Thank you for the emotions you've experienced and captured! It was a great job for you and even more joy for all of us. Good luck and come back soon!
Thanks Sergei! I appreciate you comment here :). I just got back and will be doing a series on Kyiv this fall.
Tatyana, Thank you for watching and I'm happy you've been moved by this series :) Good luck to you too!
Thank you for this Fish out of water, it was really nice to watch it.
Thank you, Peter. I`m crayning
Thanks for reminding me what love is.
Russell, That's so cool to hear! Man, you just put a smile on my face. Thanks so much :)
And what's the.. appeal of moving from.. to? what are you looking for? Honestly?what are you looking for in yourself?
what part of the operating system need to be reprogrammed? :)
Have you returned yet?
❤❤❤❤❤They became family. So Beautiful. Amazing
What a great adventure, and experience. And what beautiful memories.
I felt the raw emotion.
Thank you to the family,
and to all who participated in the making of this video, and for sharing your experiences with the rest of world.
We are all in this life together. Make, and treasure, the precious memories along the way. 💜
Love your videos Peter.
Thank you for capturing all of these awesome experiences on video.
Your videos are a blessing,
to me, and to millions of people around the world.
Thank you for sharing.
🌿🌷🌿
Peace, and greetings;
from -- Michigan, USA🇺🇸✌
Love this. ❤❤❤. Hugs to Peter and each on the family! ❤️❤️
You are great man. Thanks for this videos
really enjoyed this series of vids peter. i liive in tralee ireland and have a reasonable knowledge of russian language. this family are so natural and nice.
Greetings from West of Ukraine!
Thank you, Pete! This Tuesday I am going to Ukraine from LA for a vacation to visit my parents and friends. And now after watching your videos I feel that I missed them a lot. I am coming back to Cali in 3 weeks. I hope to meet you and shake your hand for these awesome videos about my native country. =)
Thanks Artom! I'm glad you got something out of the series :) We'll be doing a series on Kyiv this fall too. Best! Peter
Geniously, thank you Peter!
Well, I hadn't planned on getting emotional again but here we are. Love your channel Peter. Keep up the incredible content. You are a treasure to the world.
I'm finally watching your videos from the Ukraine because of what's happening over there now. This families way of life is beautiful and I'm glad you had the experience you did.
Your connection with that family and the lessons learned and shared are powerful. Watching you say goodbye to their family was emotional, I can tell you wanted a good woman like her and longed to have a family like theirs.
Aloha Peter🤙🏽
What a beautiful family... I pray for their safety💖 I also cried and cried at the end....Please let these people be safe
Wow. Sounds like a great experience living with an awesome family. Hopefully they're safe.
Hello Peter, I just started watching your videos and I have to say how much I appreciate your humility and how far you are willing to go to give the world the right perspective of what's really going on. Keep up the great work!! You are making a difference!! Much love from Toronto, Canada.
Hello Peter, I'm a new fan of yours, been binge watching for weeks now. This series has me still crying. Is your family there okay? Can you give an update on them? thank you so much for sharing your life xoxo Nancy
@PeterSantenello 2023...I wonder what happened to them, because of the war 😟 Do they still live there? How are they? Will you visit them again? So many questions...
I, binge watching all the episodes. Your channel was a recent find. I love the documentaries. This one is especially heartwarming and eye opening. Thanks for sharing such a personal journey,🙏
Absolutely beautiful! What a life! I’m sad for you. Such wonderful people. Take care
Such an emotional video. Especially knowing all that is happening in Ukraine right now. Great job.
