    For my first Galison brand experience, I tried out a 500 piece set from their Good Puzzle Co. collection called "Summer Amusement Park". After the unboxing, we get into how I went about completing this image (sorting methods, strategies), and a number of positive and negatives about overall the quality and experience. I am really looking forward to trying a true Galison set, and seeing how it compares with this experience.

    I am new to puzzling. So far, I limit myself to 500 piece puzzles until I build up some “puzzling skills”. I enjoy your channel because you talk about your plan of attack before starting the puzzle. As a novice, I need to learn things like that. Thanks for sharing your puzzle experiences.

    The main Galison and Mudpuppy puzzle brands come in really nice sturdy compact boxes. I noticed some Galison/Mudpuppy puzzles are random shapes and some boxes come in all 2 in and out piece shapes. I would try to look for them each year in January at Barnes and Noble's annual puzzle sale. I love the 4 seasons of colors in the Dog Park Puzzle by Michael Storrings. It was easy to separate the seasons. I was able to work on that puzzle with my 10-12 year old daughters. My girls also love putting together the Mudpuppy Magic of Stories puzzle. Very fun for talking about what room would you imagine yourself in the puzzle.

      I was happy to finally pick up my first main Galison puzzle. You're right, the packaging is great. I remember seeing the Dog Park puzzle on my trip to B&N, it was so pretty. Michael Storrings images all fantastic. I definitely plan to pick up my first Mudpuppy on my next shopping trip. It's wonderful that your girls puzzle with you. Mine wants nothing to do with puzzles 🤣

    Galison puzzle boxes never come sealed. I am not a big fan of their piece shapes but their images are beautiful. Mandy, you must contain your “beastly” force on the puzzle pieces😂😂😂 Good puzzle pieces quality is the same as Galison, they are on the thin side. Their images usually make up for that. It is not my favorite puzzle brand though. I also checked out Ric’s channel and subscribed 👍🏼❤️

    • @thepuzzledmandy

      I don't understand why their boxes aren't sealed 🤷‍♀️That's so strange to me. I have been looking on their website, and the really do have so many beautiful images. Interesting that they are still on the thin side, hmm...it will take a lot of willpower to contain my uncontrollable beastly force. The image I pick will have to be really good then, so that I have no mishaps with my handling LOL. Happy you've subscribed to Ric's channel, he's fantastic 👌

I had thrifted a new Galison, because eveyone seems to like them , but when I saw the thin pieces and the high gloss and I wasn't thrilled with the image I put it back on my shelf.... I doubt now I ever do it after your experience.. I am glad to see you do a 500 piece count.. I recently thrifted 9 puzzles all in great condition, most were 300 piece count... most channels do puzzles in the thousands of pieces makes me feel unworthy.. so glad to hear you say , what ever makes you happy!! Hhmm, it seemed to me if Galison were making a cheaper and eco friendly puzzle. I noticed that there was no white paper backing which usually appears on their puzzles and the pieces were rather thin. I have this puzzle as Galison and the pieces were thicker and backed with white paper. If they wish to make eco friendly puzzles then they will have to do better than that. I happened to have a Galison puzzle to hand and measured the thickness of the piece and it was 2mm. How does that compare with your puzzle? I done quite a few Galison puzzles and all of them had the white paper backing and only the Galison name on the box, no other company mentioned. Perhaps another time you can get a proper Galison puzzle and see what you think. 😊

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  11 месяцев назад

      From what you've said, I guess they made this particular image into both a cheaper version and more expensive version. Makes me wonder if they did that with other images. My cheaper version is 1.5mm, so thinner than a regular Galison piece. Interesting! I do plan to pick up a proper Galison at some point and see how different the two are.

    I don’t like galison but I like good puzzle company puzzles. I don’t know what they do differently between the two lines but every galison branded puzzle I have had had quality issues with both the pieces and the image. But I LOVE the good puzzle co puzzle I have done. The only galison branded puzzle I have liked were their advent calendars but that is because you expect a bit of quality problems in an advent calendar. Ironically there are less quality issues in the advent calendars I have then the 500/1000 piece puzzles I have tried from them.

    I enjoy the images of Galison, esp Michael Storring, but I do not like the piece shapes. I rely on the piece shape for trees and sky. That's hard to do when they are all the same. And I've never bought them new, they've always come from a swap or a thrift store.

    I love Gallison puzzles. I have done two of the Michael Storrings ones. My puzzle pieces are completely different,thicker and differently shaped. They click in beautifully and stay locked. Mine were bought in the UK so maybe they have different manufacturers. To be honest they look nothing like any Gallison puzzle I have seen.

    i hate that you had that quality issue, i did not experience that with my copy of the same puzzle. i did have a poor quality puzzle from buffalo games one time, but all of their other puzzles i’ve done have been fabulous quality. so maybe this is just a random accident from galison?
    i have done one of their 1000 piece puzzles as well, also good quality and passed the pick up test. i had to be really careful though when i took it apart to not tear the pieces because they were so snug together. i won’t let that keep me from doing other galisons, it’s just something to keep in mind.
    also, only get easy images from galison because the lack of variety in piece shape makes it difficult enough as it is
