    I'm a HUGE fan of wooden puzzles! ❤️ Their difficulty level is just perfect: I get a nice fun challenge without having to put together thousands of pieces, so they are perfect for small spaces! 🙂 And I adore the surprising piece shapes and how they eventually go together! ❤️

      Totally agree! I was surprised that I enjoyed them even though it was a completely different challenge, and those pieces really are TOO CUTE! I can't wait to try other brands 😁 I think I've already become quite a fan of wooden puzzles!

    I have only done a couple of wooden puzzles myself, though with a bit more pieces than yours. The latest wooden puzzle I did was a 500 piece puzzle from Ravensburger. A puzzle with a under the sea picture. Did not do much sorting, as I only sorted out the whimsies (puzzle pieces that is in the shape of an animal). Just turned all the pieces the the right side up, and spread them out on a piece of painter-canvas cardboard. And yes, it is common for wooden puzzles to not stick as much together as an ordinary puzzle. But misfits are not common, the pieces being cut wood. So they, the puzzle pieces, are quite satisfying putting together.

    • @thepuzzledmandy
      @thepuzzledmandy  Год назад

      I did not know Ravensburger has wooden puzzles, how interesting! Did you enjoy your experiences? I have to agree with you, the pieces may not stay together, but they are soo satisfying to put together. I love when those intricate cuts sit so well together.

      @@thepuzzledmandy I did not know either until I saw some for sale at an online store. Had to try one out. Picked one out of the four that they had available. They also had a couple of 150 piece Ravensburger wooden puzzles, but I went woth 500 straight away as I had done a wooden puzzle before with a few hundred pieces. And doing the Ravensburger wooden puzzle was an enjoyable experience putting it all together. Would probably do more such puzzles, if they were not so expensive. About 3 times as costly compared to an ordinary 500 piece Ravensburcer jigsaw puzzle. So it is not something to collect every puzzle of, but rather something to treat yourself to once in a while.

      @@malelonewolf80 Woah, that's sounds too expensive for my budget 😅 But like you said, probably a good thing to treat yourself with every now and then. I guess if the quality and experience is worth it, then why not right.

    Thank you for the honest review glad you enjoyed in the end!!! The owl looked HARD!! I saw in the comments a subscriber is going to send you a Liberty wooden puzzle and you have a Wentworth.... I like Temu for the low cost, the other brands are very expensive... I hope you do a video comparing all the brands, I would be interested in just how much better the expensive are.. if they are and worth the extra cost.. I have only done the Temu ones and love them, I have maybe 10 of the rectangle ones... the loose fit does not bother me.. I have said before , I make a "frame" for them and do not struggle at all........ yes something different for a change!!!! Hope your week goes well and you keep cool !!!!

      Thank you for gifting them! The owl was definitely more challenging, but I think that was only because there were more pieces involved. I must say, they were absolutely beautiful to stare at once they were completed. Those colors just popped on my table. I definitely plan to compare other brands, as I'm also curious about how much better the more expensive ones are. So far, I really like the Temu sets, and they were a perfect start to my wooden puzzle journey. I'm really looking forward to trying a lot more!

    I've done a few wooden puzzles so far. My favorite brand, even though it's a bit pricey, is Nautilus. It isn't going to matter the piece count, the wooden ones with piece shapes like this are always going to be loose fitting. I do my wooden puzzles on a surface that isn't smooth. Helps keep them in place. :)

    I loved wooden puzzles. I have a subscription to Anthology puzzles and pay $30 a month. They have many different artists they use. I also enjoy Nautilus Puzzles. They are definitely on the pricier side. Also a few other more generic brands oh and some Dowdle. Also sharing with my favorite RUclips a sale going on at a Canadian store called Tri-M Specialty products. Sale 50-65% of selected puzzles. I have purchased from them in the past. Let's just say I forgot I had a budget!

    • @annesnyder3909

      @thepuzzledmandy Anthology is a wooden puzzle subscription where you keep the puzzle and not return it. If you enjoy the wooden puzzles with whimsy pieces it is fun to have. I like to redo them. Also, if you do a wooden puzzle on a fabric or felt surface it stays in place better.
      And yes, there is never enough money for puzzles!

You've motivated me to try again, but I think I'll find a little one first. As for sorting, I used to just sort by color. After watching a couple of your videos I started sorting more by object, like buildings versus landscapes or animals. Made a huge difference. Thanks!

    Old wooden puzzles were traditionally cut by hand on a scroll saw, so it was difficult and time consuming to make fully-interlocking pieces. If modern wooden puzzles are cut by a computer programed laser, one would think they could program/design the puzzle pieces to be more interlocking? Maybe it's tradition that the new wooden pieces still fit loose, or maybe the manufacturer has other reasons? Would be interesting to find out.
    Another difference is that when cutting wood, the blade or laser removes material and leaves a space between pieces, it's called the kerf. When they stamp a cardboard puzzle, there is no kerf. Perhaps the traditionally shaped male-female puzzle piece just won't work with wood because of the kerf.

    A friend of mine gave me a wooden puzzle called The Sun God. He complained about the puzzle not staying together and moving around on him as he put it together. I knew from watching videos about wooden puzzles that there aren't really any connections to keep the pieces together like a regular jigsaw puzzle so I wasn't surprised. When I put it together, I was a bit annoyed by pieces moving around as I tried to put in a piece somewhere but I got over it. I did become slightly obsessed with getting it finished though.
