Very good explanation. The hard part is implementing a safe working solution - well done. One thing I have noticed is that the contactors & other controls are upside down (in other videos as well) . As a 'land based' industrial electrician this is not technically illegal, but it certainly would be frowned upon.
Siemens logo PLC can be repaired , Standard SMPS unit so the TOP232(Integrated Off-Line Switcher) likely has died, along with the 2 SMD capacitors on the board, and check the input side resistors and diodes for being open circuit. To prevent it happening again get some inline mains filters on the power to the PLC units, it will help prolong the life of them a lot.
Hi jack, i'm so happy and many knowledge i get about electrician on vessel, i'm a sailor too like you, and i'm in engine departement as 4th engineer, i hope you must be often post your video about ETO, but i wanna ask you, can you post another video about maintenance engine and overhauling or repaired about engine jack.
Very nice way you are tracing the drawings and troubleshooting the faults. That Siemens logo PLC should be replaced and to be reprogrammed as before it was.
Good work, sometimes you need to make things work, and must be creative in doing it if there is something missing. That is the point that you must call on your knowledge, and they is why it is always good to learning and updating what you know when you can, it is an investment in yourself…….
K0 makes the selector switch ready auto or manual mode. If emergency push button is triggered then it will open. You should check what triggered the plc output to be on. Stand alone logo plc.
Hi Jake, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.. I find it fascinating.. keep up the good work
Thank you very much for this wonderful comment.
