Most modern models are getting so well engineered that they practically build themselves, and how good they look more comes down to your detailing & weathering skills. There is a great sense of pride in being able to take a cheap old kit that doesn't fit worth a damn and still make it look good. And nice to see you back... hopefully a little more often.
Awesome mate!! You are 100% right, as long as you’re enjoying building models that’s the main thing. I often think it needs to be perfect when I watch the online modelling masters and compare my modelling skills to them , but hey it’s all about having fun ! No one looks at my diorama’s except the wife and kids who just look at them for 10 seconds and say “oh that’s cool , whatever Dad”. My advice is build it for yourself and have fun regardless of your skill level 👍 keep up the great work mate and cheers from Darwin 👍🇦🇺👍
I love those LS kits. They were relatively unknown here in the UK but thanks to internet auctions etc I have bought several of them, including that Ki-109. Mine includes a clear fuselage half (as well as regular halves) allowing for interior detailing. Many variations of this basic mould are still available and many 'extra/spare' parts should be on the sprues. There was also a detailed artwork included showing the interior and different versions of actual WW2 aircraft.
@@DavesModelWorkshop I agree, FUN, however I know there are some "rivet counters" that take it to the extreme, you can't paint that tank that color, it never existed. I say to them "buzz off" , So what if I paint a German Tiger tank "Candy Apple Red" or metal flake blue. I'm having fun. You do a great job Dave. Keep it up.
You are so right Dave it is all about having fun...Yes your mini buildings are truly a work of art but like you said some times you just whant to have fun but by the way your airplanes are Supper as well.. And it is great to see one of your episodes again.....KA
Great video! You're right! I need to get the mojo back, but sometimes when you have the time, your mojo's gone, so what brought my mojo again, was to restore damaged models, caused by moving to another house, then when I fix one, then want to build another and so on. As long as I like them is enough for me. Showcase models, I only wtach their skills, read on magazines etc. But I build'em just for fun and distraction as well.
Thank you for the fine video, much appreciated. Good job on the airplanes. I have not seen a LS kit in years. 1/72 scale my favorite aircraft scale. Keep up the good work. Thanks again.
Good to see you back Dave, and great job on that camo. I had the same experience when I recently built the 1967 Airfix Italian Fiat G.50. Great fun, and I now have more 1/72 aircraft to build 😁
Hi Dave, Good to see you back. I too have really lost my mojo and am really struggling to get it back. In fact I have been selling some of my stash off.
@@DavesModelWorkshop Yes I got what I wanted. I have some WNW kits including a Gotha IV and a Felixstowe. Keeping those for my retirement fund 🤣 Funny though out of the 4 kits I listed, none were WNW btw, the Revell 1/32 Me 262 (twin seat version) with some Eduard goodies hasn't had 1 view. It's now in it's third week of listing.
That's my problem right now everything has to be perfect after i see model shows or people like '' Night shift '' or '' Laser creation world '' and then i get frustrated/angry and question myself as to why am i even doing this. Side note i heard that baby oil will remove canopy clouding ? Also been wondering why you haven't posted any videos in a long time.
Hi Tim, yeah, the epic skill level of some builds on the internet can be daunting (also inspiring though!), but it's all meant to be fun. I've been focussed on my scratchbuilding, which isn't really a camera-friendly process - it's very slow!
I find that entering any build contest helps get my MOJO back in gear..HO builds or military vehicle scale 1/35 is my normal but taking the plunge into N Scale as a first..
Ah, I find entering contests the opposite, I come away determined to only build for my own edification. I find inspiration in seeing other people's work, but I don't enjoy competing myself. But I'm glad it inspires you.
Don`t know if you`ve ever tried dipping your canopies and other clear parts into Future floor polish, but it definitely helps with crazing and makes the canopy very shiny. I`m also not sure what they`re calling Future these days, the name has changed several times. There`s many YT vids on it`s use.
@@powder4360 you can clean it all off by leaving it in Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant for a few hours. All the paint etc will dissolve and leave the plastic intact👍🏼 I’ve used this many a time to strip back all a type of models. Ian

Good to have you back!

It’s so refreshing to hear someone say just do what you want as it’s meant to be fun!
Thanks Robert :)

Oh yes, mine also came with the clear fuselage half! SO old school! Nowhere like a modern kit experience, but fun in itself.
I am with you on having fun with modeling. I do try to improve on each model, but I do it for fun.
Agreed, that's the whole point, isn't it?

Thanks Richard! The LS kits are out there, I have seen a few on ebay.
Nice to see you got Mojo back. I didn't lose mine (yet) but I just find it hard to find the time that I'd like. So it's only one model a month or so.
Not having enough free time to model is the opposite problem. I guess you just have to make it work when you can, huh? Thanks mate
Great to see you back Dave, models are great good to have a crack at em again. Cheer's JV

Great idea blue tack for mottled effect

That plane came out awesome thanks for sharing. Just subscribed 🤙🏽
Thanks for the sub!
Hey Dave, do you think you could achieve the mottled effect by dabbing on masking fluid?
I'm certain you could. I've not used masking fluid for a long time as I find it a pain in the **** to remove, but it would certainly work.
Organized chaos 😁👍👍👍👍
The story of my life! ;)
Nice build looks great! Great to see a video from you again!
