I also was in a decently bad accident and walked away, we limped. I’ve considered it my one free ticket and have steered clear of bikes. Well I’ve been watching you for a couple years now and can say you have helped me decide to try 2 wheels again. I appreciate all of your content. Can’t wait to see this new bike hit them trails
Zachary, I know the feeling. I contemplated selling my Tenere after my accident but there's nothing like riding trails. I'll probably spend even less time on road than I did before but I'm ok with that!
I'm doing the same thing, just backwards. Doubletakes arrived today, simple install. Barkbusters fresh of the boat from Australia , on the way to my place. Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro...
nice to work on a clean bike.. i bet you still go down stairs n just stare at it... glad to hear your taking care of that foot and not risking more injury... keep on keeping on swanky
It really is, I'm hoping to get mist stuff wrapped up before I can get on it and get it all dirty. Your correct, I can often be found just admiring it down there lol.
Man I got testicular torsion a week before i planned on trying out this bike. I had to wait 3 weeks before i could comfortably sit on it to try it out. Now mine arrives next month!
Saw another driver, while picking up a load in Ft Atkinson, that had a ramp built behind the cab of his truck with a dual sport on it. Took a pic but realized no way to send it to you. Sure got my head going a million miles an hr though. Lol looking good. You’ll be on that thing b4 u know it.
Just fit mine. Couple of additional points to mention... you showed the different length screws ... for anyone fitting these ensure you use the four short stubby ones for attaching the barkbuster to the bar and the longer screws are for the wind deflector. You did show it, but it’s worth reiterating the point as I almost got mine the wrong way round. Also worth mentioning are the clamp grooves on the inside of the clamps dictate which side they go to compensate for the taper on the handlebars. Hope you’re riding soon mate. What an epic bike. Ride safe and get that leg better!
Hmm I did not notice that the clamps had a right and a left. I guess I must have just gotten lucky and did it right? Good info though, thank you! I got a few rides in before we got some snow, it is an epic bike! Thanks!
Thanks for this video. bought a 2021 T7 3 months ago, put 12,000 miles on it already (road trip miles) & now adding all the farkles, went with Outback Motortek crash bars & rear racks, Black Dog bash plate & Camel ADV fuel cell & just got my Barkbusters today, still waiting on my seat concepts seat. Still have my KLR 685 as well. thanks again
@@SwankyCatProductions I knew the limits of the KLR more than the T7 as of yet, also the maint on the KLR as the T7 is still new & a learning curve still. The KLR i battle tested many many times & built like a tank. have yet to really crash the T7,
I was yelling at the screen when you were doing the right mirror "no! turn it the other way!" I figured you were going to break it off! I put my levers down more for when I stand up and the brake banjo is almost touching my Bark Busters.
Yeah haha I shoulda known better. I think the KLR was the same way. I guess it's just been to long. Mmm yeah that would be a problem. I usually leave mine a little higher but might adjust them eventually.
Loved the look on your face when you threw your leg over the seat for the first time! Priceless! You might need to trim the outside of your throttle side grip off so it doesn’t stick. Had to do that with a few of mine. Also had to trim the end off my levers so they did not contact the Barkbuster. Can’t wait to see how you like the bike compared to the KLR (may it Rest In Peace).
Thanks, lookin to do the same on my own, but maybe in white as I have the red/white Tenere. Ironically, had to recover from a broken leg to start riding mine as well....just finished the 1000 mile break-in, loving it!
Wow strange... I actually saw another guy on Facebook who had a broken foot and a new Tenere. Who knew getting on one of these would be so difficult!? Haha. Glad to hear your on the other side of it though, I can't wait!
I had the same issue with the barkbuster bar end rubbing against the throttle grip. My solution was to keep the stock bar end and fit the barkbuster over. The bolt is a bit too long, so I just used the stock one also and its working for now until I get a shorter bolt. Clearance is tight around the master cylinder, but seems ok. I might move it outward a little. My clutch lever was bent from an earlier fall and smashed against it. Guess I will need to replace it with an adjustable one.
I added the BarkBusters as well and found that the clutch lever was way too close to the barkBusters. I'm surprised that a Yamaha Tenere 700 specific fit has that problem. I am not using the additional flap to get an extra few millimeters of space. Anyone have a good solution to the problem? I am considering a shorter clutch lever but am disappointment that I have to spend additional dollars to solve a design defect.
Hey Swanky Cat, love your videos and just got my hands on a T7 that I've instantly fallen in love with. Question for you about these barkbusters...did your handguard kit come with the bar-end bolt that appears at the 7:25 min mark of your vid? Mine didn't and I'm wondering if you ordered separately.
I was in my local Kawasaki dealer yesterday picking up a headlight bulb for the KLR. While I was there a Kawasaki rep was in too and told us that he can confirm production of a new KLR replacement. He couldn’t give any details but I’m hoping its Kawasaki’s answer to the Tenere.
I've seen some concept images floating around. They look pretty similar to the Tenere but not quite as cool. I'm hoping they tweak it a but and put together a better color scheme. If they do, I'll probably pick one up in the future!
@@SwankyCatProductions Yes I ordered online for Tenere 700 but they don’t fit, i have 22mm clamps and i think i need bigger one, can you tell me the exact size and type that i need for my Tenere, if you can send my a link when i can see the clamps and kit I need. Thanks a lot
I'd probably be right there with you if I had been able to ride for the last month. Now I'm hoping to get at least a few more months of warm-ish weather.
Hi swanky, I know this video is a little old now but was just wondering if you had any trouble getting the short screws that attach the main plastic body to the aluminium bars to properly seat all the way down? I have just put mine together thanks to your video and that seems to be the only thing that hasn’t worked perfectly. There seems to be a 2-4mm gap between the screw and the surface. Anyways I hope you can reply and hope you are doing much better now. Thanks again for the great video, Take care!
I did have a bit of an issue getting them down tight. Mine seemed to be slightly offset so I had to sort of push them straight while turning them in. One thing you might want to double check is that you've got the right screws. The ones for the extra deflectors look pretty similar and I think I almost switched them at first. Otherwise just push hard and twist! I'm doing much better and enjoying the T7, thanks!
Thanks for this great how to video. Do you think the the BB Storms would fit too? I understand that the metal parts are the same but I wonder if the plastics would interfere somewhere. Thanks man good job!
Haha yeah the wrenching is keeping me sane. Feels good to get all of this out of the way while the bike is still clean. Haven't heard anything on the KLR yet, not sure what the deal is.
Yeah she's a bit tall . I am 6' with a short inseam and long torso . The balls of my feet touch the ground when all my 210 pounds plus what 25 pounds of protective gear . Thinking about the low seat or maybe the lowering kit but not sure yet . With my weight I am at the top end for the rear stock spring so one day I should look into that or lose ten pounds , haha .

Hi, nice video
I just bought the same, but they don’t fit in my Tenere 700, ma handlebars is to fat, how can you help me?
Did you buy a set made specifically for the Tenere? They clamps need to be made for the fat bars.
