Hello Robert. Greetings from Poland. I just learned that this is your new channel. I stumbled on this video 4 days ago when binge watching everything about AJP PR7. Amazing info here- and I LOVED the vid of your longer trip on this bike. I never knew your old channel, but I subscribed now as I like your style. I'm looking forward to the future content. All the best! Michal.
I have been riding motorcycles for 45 years and 6 months ago, after much consideration, I bought an AJP PR7. It is truly the best motorcycle I have ever had the pleasure of riding. Have lots of fun riding your AJP.
I've been riding for 45 years. In 2022 I purchased a KTM 890AR - it's the best bike I've ever owned (and ridden). This year I've ridden over 14,000 miles on all sorts or roads and tracks, in several countries from the Baltic States down to southern Spain.
it's an excellent choice. I hope one day this bike will be available in Canada. Currently I have a Suzuki DR650 to support my T7. Thank you for your video
I have the same combo, currently. I'm looking forward to the what the next couple years will bring, for small twins. Can't wait to see what the Kawi KLE500 is going to be.
Can totally relate to your mid-weight crisis Robert 🤣 Love watching your videos and well done on your new channel! I am from the far south tiny island of Malta, riding dirt for us usually means catching a ferry up to Italy. If you're ever down here for a short break from your cold, lets hook up for a beer :-)
Hey Robert, the AJP is looking good. Good luck with solo venture, it will work-like 1000's others i enjoy your witt quirkyness and view likemindedness on these dualsport bikes. I really enjoy Nomads and as a late joiner still got to catch up on older ones. A thought to add something to your u tube name Robert Baldinger Adventures or Robert the Nomad 😂or something. Just a thought- more people to share good stuff with . Sean

Hola Nomad! Aquí estamos al revés,vengo de una AJP spr 250 con muy mala experiencia, muchas fallas con 3000 km y acabado de comprar una Tenere 700...me encantan tus videos, gracias y saludos
So nice to see another guy who understands that weigth is the Most important thing for Amateur Riders. Owned a tenere and was totaly disapointed due to the top Heavy weight.
Thanks. I chose the race exhaust mainly because it has better material in the pipes. Now I am looking to make it more quiet. I don't like to disturb people and animals too much.
@@rbaldingerHia Robert, this is Fran from Spain. How is the DBkiller going on? Any news about ir a your modifications? Happy Christmas and all the best for 2025!!!
Probably the best two choices out there for those that really go off road. I use a KTM 500excf but I do a lot more off road than on and a 250lb bike makes it a lot easier.
Again, thanks a lot for the very interesting video. I specially like the weighing of bothe bikes. For me it says it all. I owned a T7 for 6 months, and sold it after I dropped it 3 times during a single weekend. It's a very good bike but too top-heavy for me. I am back with only my old Suzuki DR 650 and i love it. Although the PR7 would be first choice if my finances would allow 😂 Thanks again.
How’s the suspension out of the box? Did you need to change the shock spring rate or anything? Clicker settings from AJP sufficient? Definitely on my short list considering what you get for your money, a lot less mods needed.
Thanks for the video - the PR7 looks like the bike for me in future. What tablet did you replace the S7 with, and how are you finding the waterproofing of the tablet (and the rest of the electrics in general)? Thanks
I use the DMD T-865 from Thork Racing as tablet. It’s made for offroading and is well waterprotected. Bikes water proofing is enduro style which is a bit limited. I have used vaseline on all exposed connectors.
It's quite easy to install. You need to buy the bracket from Thork Racing. Just unscrew the old one, and add this one. Then you can mount the tablet easily. www.thorkracing.com/produto/ajp-pr7-amps-bracket/
Thanks. One thing was that the AJP did not need more money to become ADV-ready. It was just like I wanted it from the box. And I just liked riding it more. A bit less aggressive but still very capable.
looking at the Chinese career of KTM and I wouldn't buy it either. I like the motorcycle you bought, maybe I'll buy it someday. A very practical way to check the weight of the motorcycle in the position, Even if you pack it, you will have the opportunity to check. You live in a beautiful country and such a motorcycle will certainly give you many impressions.
Hello Robert, as a Tiger 800 XCA and TET rider, I've been thinking about buying an AJP for some time now. However, I'm hesitating because in Germany the AJP can only be registered with 27 hp and is very loud in the open version with the DOMA exhaust, the version i test rided last year. That would quickly attract attention here during inspections. Since Sweden, I believe, also has to comply with the EU 5 emissions standard, I wonder if there are similar restrictions there. In your video with the AJP/KTM test ride, you also mentioned that the AJP can be a bit loud in the long run. I read on Facebook that you may have already found a remedy. I myself have already looked for a DB-killer for the DOMA exhaust, but have not been able to find one which is sufficient enough. The statement was that this would only result in a 2 db reduction. Maybe it has to be a different complete exhaust i don't know. So I wanted to ask if you have any tips or experience, or are already working on how to get the AJP to a volume suitable for everyday use without sacrificing too much power or efficiency of the open version. If you would make a video on this in the future, I would love it, but I also understand if this is not possible. Maybe you have a comment or hint somewhere for the AJP enthusiasts here in Germany. I really appreciate your content - I especially enjoyed your work at “Nomad Sweden”. I'm already looking forward to following your new channel. Many thanks and best regards Andreas
I have tried the Doma exhaust with db-killer now. It is more silent on idle but still very loud when giving throttle. But the standard exhaust is very silent. Almost too silent :) So I think standard would be fully legal. But I see no way to make the Doma exhaust acceptable for Germany. Standard version has 45 hp in Sweden.
@@rbaldinger Thank you Robert. In Germany the legal version has only 28 hp, which is simply not enough. So with the other mapping and doma exhaust, it seems to be 52 hp, and the standard exhaust apparently brings it down to 45 hp. Good to know, i can live with that.
Can you give your thoughts on the muffler bracket being bolted to the plastic rear gas tank? Kove does the same thing and it seems like a big problem waiting to happen
Haha yes that is something that caught my eye too. For some reason it seems to work though since I have never heard about any problems with it. Have you?
The fact that KTM will disappear, most likely must have played on your mind, but a low compression engine in a lighter bike with more comfort makes sense. Happy travels. I don't believe that you will keep your T7 for long, because there are much better bikes in that weight class.
Thanks! Well I didn't consider KTM since it's just not what I liked. And the T7 will stay a while since I am so attached to it, and will not get much money for it anyway.
the thing is that I am still struggling if I would accept to have 75HP when I have 160 now ( I have a 1290 SAR), I am now at the point that I don't need all the different riding mods, even if I understand that with so much hp, you need some control. I would like now a bike I could easily go on highway, second roads and no worry about trying a trail with 250 kg...and also good for a 2 up ride from time to time...the problem is that in Switzerland I cannot try a Tenere WR. Maybe I should go to France, not too far from me to try one... 😁
I like the look of this bike though I've never ridden one. Why is modding a bike so much fun? I never feel like replacing the steering wheel of my car 🤣
