    Purchasing prescription glasses can be a challenge and often confusing when you do not know all the lens options. In this video, I walk you through different anti reflective coatings on glasses (such as anti reflective coating glasses vs blue light glasses), as well as showing different glare coatings and the pros and cons of each.
    If possible, it is always best to consult your local optician or glasses shop for more information and details about what is best for you and your glasses prescription.

      I got a question. I had cateraked (sorry I have autism and schizoaffective disorder) on both my eyes and they said I had the option to get artificial lenes put in both my eyes (I was legally blind) but now I can't see things close up without reading glasses and I don't like them can I get my old eyes back, please?
      Oh. I have nystagmus too so I can't do a byfolcal
      Or is there a special pair of glasses that can do both long and short version (with no bifocal)

    Most optometrist shops never explain the differences between all these coatings, they just automatically recommend the most expensive coating, which make me suspect that they are just upselling but there is really no difference.

    Thanks so much for the lecture including the blue light info! Gets very confusing figuring out the best needs for me as a videographer and editor. Using sapphire blue light filters currently and I kind of don’t like the yellow tint I see the world with. Also relatively expensive

    • @kazielbonn
      @kazielbonn 8 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, can't have that yellow tint if you are in a profession that decides what colours to use for a project. I had Prevencias many years ago; the yellow tint was something I could get used to as I wasn't doing professional graphic design but the purple reflex colour was so obnoxious I moved to the Crizal Forte when I got new frames. But as those have broken at the bridge, I am in the market for new ones and am seriously thinking of getting the Sapphire HR.

    I previously heard you mention the Crizal Sapphire coatings. I spent a small fortune on them and they were the absolute worst coatings I ever had. After a few months, it looked like I had scratched the lenses with sandpaper. That was just the coating peeling off. My local optical shop honored the warranty except I had to pay $25 for shipped to and from and wait about 3 weeks. The same thing happened about 10 months later. No warranty for the second failure. Since then I have had great luck with standard coatings and lenses from Costco and from Zenni.

      I've bee using prevencia coated lens for ages (at least 7-8 years)
      I even wash it with soap or even use sanitizers. No issues here.
      I think the issue is with the 'premium' sapphire coating rather than crizal itself.
      But I've heard that Zeiss is actually better to avoid glare, so I am thinking of getting a spare with Duravision, but I can't make up my mind which one to go for, platinum (sapphire competitor) or Blueprotect (prevencia competitor).

    Very useful vid. Now, let's see you do one on the various tinted lenses from yellow, blue, green, violet, etc., as they all do serve specific purposes like yellow for sports field vision/dusk-driving, etc. *A lil secret... The blue or purple tinted ones seem to aid those with colorblindness, esp. red/green. [This as it is very hard to find red ones, esp. in polarised.] I have Rx pairs in yellow & blue, aside Transitions. (I dod suspect this is why most Enchroma Trivex lenses are more violet tinted as well.)
    I have mild deutan, or green light wavelength weakness. Have taken both Ishihara & H.R.R. book tests to reveal same results each time as it is congenital w/ my grandfather & brother also having it to some degree. (My brother less than I.) I've also got mild visual snow/static syndrome to go along w/ it which also creates a consistent, low-pitched ear ringing or some sort of tinnitus. But, we're veering way off course here...

    actually for blue light filter lenses, they have new technology to make the lenses absorb the light instead of reflecting it via coating, so we would no longer experience the weird purple light appearing a lot when wearing these. I've worn glasses for over 20 years. Always too cheap to get the anti reflective coating. But finally got nutty and spent the extra $5 at Zenni. SO much better at night. I never realized how much flare and glare there was, and the farther you look, the worse it is. With the AR coating, night time vision is suddenly much more clear. It's almost as though the light glare was some kind of solid material like smoke or fog. Daytime and computer/TV I don't see much difference, but after dark it is crazy how much better is it.

    I got Crizal Sapphire 360 UV when I got my glasses in 2017 (yeah, I know I'm overdue for new ones but I want to get my dry eye issues sorted first) and it's amazing that still to this day, there's not a scratch on them. They are a real pain to clean though and the place I went to to get them, their lab screwed them up twice. I ended up having to get Essilor themselves to remake them to finally get a pair with uniform reflex. I was thinking about Rock specifically because it's easier to clean but I really like the Sapphire's reflex, it's more natural and less noticeable. Didn't realize that the reflex was different between them!

      IMO as a consumer whom already experienced coatings line up from crizal and duravision..I would say that the duravision coatings' line is superior than the crizal's in terms of clarity..angle of reflections and scratch resistance

    I have a lot of nighttime glare due to the separation from the back of the wall which made a lot of floaters. The antiglare on my current glasses don’t help at all. Don’t know what type it is. But would these advanced glare treatments help?

    Yes, I have an astigmatism. I also found that when I wiped my eyeglasses the rays were not as apparent though it did not go away completely. It was alarming because this was the first time I experienced this. It was like beams in a disco or light show. I also have antiglare on my glasses. Can scratches on the lens cause this too?

    • @trishayamada807
      @trishayamada807 Год назад

      I have that issue with anti glare. They seem to make my astigmatic eyes worse and the anti glare get fingerprints/oily very easily. But maybe I’m just picky.

    • @johnystudio

      @@DoctorEyeHealth Before I knew about using dish soap to clean smudges on my budget lenses, I used soap all the time to clean them. I noticed so much damage and scratches over time. I didn’t know why the budget coating was deteriorating so fast thinking I was doing more good than harm by cleaning with soap. I told this to my optician and he told me to use dish soap or camera lense wipes instead of ordinary soap because it is less harsh on the lenses. You explain everything in meticulous detail! Thank you so much Dr. Allen for your videos!!! I love them and I learn so much! ❤️😍🥰.
