UPDATE! New Version of this video here: ruclips.net/video/IJxm06ZzCYs/видео.html
So that's why these anime villains have these scary shiny glasses when they push them: They don't have anti-reflective coating.
😡
HAHAHA that's hilarious! I will never not think that now.
@@DoctorEyeHealth Thank you for replying! I'm taking a Master's course in photonics this semester that touches on ophthalmology, and your videos about topics such as this, contact lenses, and LASIK have been really helpful supplementary videos in my studies!
I'm surprised you did not mention ghost lights. My first glasses did not have an AR coating, and at night, bright lights would be reflected back into my eyes from various angles so that I would see many more lights than there actually were. This made night driving very difficult and confusing-especially in unfamiliar areas. AR coated glasses eliminated this completely. For me, this was a safety issue. Cheers, Russ
Hey Russ! Thanks so much for the awesome comment. Very good point. Glad the AR coating helped👍💯
Ghosts don't exist.
@@ytsux9259 I think he doesn't mean literal ghosts
@@ytsux9259 Thanks for the info, bro.

Doc - your eyes are beautiful - I can't concentrate on the video...
Good problem to have??
@@DoctorEyeHealth lol
ang landi mo..
He’s just got a light circle around the camera
Are you wearing colored contact lenses?
I could tell the difference between the two. I guess what I appreciate the most about your videos is that you genuinely care. You don't have an agenda. You are not trying to upsell me on something, but educate. That makes your videos excellent.
You should be the most famous optometrist channel in the universe
👍👍😎💥💯
@@DoctorEyeHealth I fully confirm 💪.. Greetings from Russia! 👋 colleague 👀
Just came from the eye doctor. We were so confused with their explanations. You made it all so much more clear!! Thank you so much!
You are brilliant - pure delight listening to you. You make everything so clear, (like with AR coating....). I get a feeling of comprehensive understanding of the subject. Thanks for making these videos for us.
Loved the video…I feel we’re taken advantage of a lot when buying lenses and especially lens coating “options” when buying glasses from your typical
Omnivision etc. businesses. Man they hit me with over 300.00 purely for lens
“options” and I’m really relying on your videos to get to the bottom of this….my prescription is very slight and it’s time we educate ourselves on eye lens function, features, prices, and brands also the difference between necessity and pushy sales tactics..we need to know especially because your vision is not only the most important of your 5 senses but the windows to the soul.
Another really important advantage of an anti-reflective coating is if you have a high prescription. It eliminates the 'coke bottle' effect (where there appears to be concentric rings in the lenses).
Dr your view #s are sky rocketing ! ! Congrats ! You are such a blessing to all, as eyes are subject to deteriorate for all human ! See your passion and heart in it !
It would be great if you could do a video comparing the different AR coatings and what their reflex colours look like. I'd be really interested to see a comparison between Duravision and Crizal.
Great video!! I've been trying to figure out the features and benefits of an AR coating for about a year. This video explains so much better than my optometrist's staff.
I eventually got prescription eyeglasses. I’m learning a lot about eyeglasses.
Thanks D.E.H.
Thank you for making this video. I really needed this because I’m about to order my glasses.
Thanks a lot, this video have helped me basically understand what I wanted to know about glasses.
Thanks Doc! This answered a question I've had for a long time.
Doc thanks for the video. I always thought these add-ons especially the AR, were just a way to boost the prices of eye glasses. No one has ever really explain the benefits when ever I got glasses.
Wow, your eye colour is amazing!
I got glasses without it one time. Never again I would see reflection of my eyes in the glasses. So much better with the AR.
I know the feeling! I somehow made it all the way to optometry school before my professor laughed at me and made me get it.
Eh... I have polarized lenses and as annoying as the glare is... I actually like it without because the reflection from the outside ads mystery to the eyes... I wish they would just add it on one side but some dealers don't know how to do that
What do you mean you would see your reflections of your eyes
This was really really helpful Joseph. Thank you so much for making such an easy to understand and comprehensive video.
It’s a must, absolute beneficial. thanks We need AR
A very clear and simple explanation for our patients. some times they think it's to expensive and not worth it, I going to use the same verbiage, they will understand more than just a cosmetic coating.
Doc you are doing good.
Simple words though perfect deliveries.
Good examples and perfect identification of daily problems and uses
Going to be getting new glasses very soon. You just helped me make my shopping list of things I will need concerning my lens. thanks
I have two pairs of TF eyeglasses that I got with regular lenses at the store, then I got a third pair of TF which I ordered online. And to my surprise, they arrived with an AR coating. I regret not getting the other two pairs with an AR coating it really makes a drastic difference.
I got a 2 for 1 deal, a pair of normal glasses and a pair of sunglasses for a pretty good price but then I had to add the price of the AR coating on the normal ones and even more money to get the sunglasses polarized. My first prescription glasses so I'm new to this! Glad to get an explanation, I'm glad I paid the extra now.
I stopped getting the AR coating because before the year was up, my lenses were so smudgy that I had to turn my head to see clearly in some situations - and I wasn't a kid - but stuff that are considered rough on my glasses. I'll talk to the optician next time about it because friends have commented that my lenses reflect a lot of light and I do hate the halos when I rarely have to drive at night. Thanks for the info!
Bless you for the honest comparisons. Very helpful
Thank so much fo this video, is so informative and I was able to see the difference between reflective and non reflective lenses.
I love your optical. Im a licensed Optician in NY and i have never worked in a nice place like yours.
Thank you! we just had it remodeled about 2 years ago. It was by Eye Designs.
I have Daltonism and playing Pickleball I noticed that my AR glasses help me see better as oppose to my non-ar which help with seeing more vivid colors; so it's back to the DRAWING board to see what AR's work "best" for me - - Thanks Doc; great video!! 😇😇😇🤴😇😇😇
He had no choice becoming an eye doctor, they all have they same voice and his is that top tier level eye doctor voice
💯Thanks Bob!
LMAO
Your videos have been so helpful!!!
Very thorough explanation, well done. Looks like a Speedmaster you have on. Cheers!
I’m new to glasses and contacts and appreciate all your videos! Your contact tutorial all definitely helped me! When I went and I got glasses also they suggested an anti glare coating, I wish I would’ve gotten it. I’ll just have to spring for next time. It’s more money but it’s totally worth it right now. I’m waiting on my contacts to come in from Florida so I’m stuck wearing the glasses I just got. I see all the glare that I don’t see with the contacts
I haven't watched the video and the only thing I can say is: get the coating... It will just make your day nicer
Just received a pair of glasses with the Crizal coating and it's leaps and bounds better than my last pair with another A.R. coating. Enough so that I did a little digging around to learn more about it. Really good stuff.
Happy you like it!
I wonder if there's glasses that are anti finger prints? I tend to touch my eye glasses frequently. 😄
Yeah, they're called oleophobic coatings. Zenni Optical offers it on their site.
Thanks so much for the clarity on this
Can you talk about all the various add-ons that will be presented when ordering lenses? Seems like there are quite a few that will take the cost up significantly. You’ve discussed AR coatings, but I recall being offered an assortment of other options. Would like to know if they are worth it. Thanks!!
Love your videos! Great information!
Nice video with some great info. Thank You.

watching from the Philippines bro,I always go to your channel whenever I have questions about my glasses and vision, thank you for educating us.
Hey thanks Boris! If you have any other questions please let me know!
sure,thanks bro God bless you🖤
Appreciate all your knowledge it helps me pick my next pair of glasses thank you. ✋
Sums up all the points to consider when you're deciding on -- get, or don't get the AR coating.
Thanks for all the info!
Thanks for the feedback!
One thing not mentioned is depending on the glasses shape light from behind or to the side of you can cast a reflection on the inside of your lenses. It’s crazy annoying. Opted out of coating my most recent ones and I’m regretting it.
I was first introduced to anti-glare coating to eliminate the reflection of my eyes, which was seriously distracting!
thank you for your expert help. Getting new galsses soon and i always do my homework before a purchase.
I love this channel very much, cos I myself wear 👓 and have upgraded them to have AR-Coating protection.
Very helpful and beneficial, thanks for the eye health seminar, very much appreciated.
Thanks for the information Doc.
This is helpful like all your videos. Thanks!
Yes thanks, your video was very informative. Just got anti reflective for the first time
Thank you so much for this explanation!!
Am one of your fan of channel it's superb video with clear explanation.about antireflective glasses 👌
I had no idea how AR coating worked. Thanks Dr. Allen.
Muy informativo, gracias doctor ojitos.
This is a great video!!!
While it hasnt happened to me I have seen many instances of coatings fail rendering the lens's unusable.
Great informational video!
The only drawback is keeping them clean they smudge a lot
Very true...That is where using dish soap works really well.
@@DoctorEyeHealth yep dont use lens cleaner wipes it kills it
I was going to ask this question !!! Why does it get so smudgy ?
I need to clean mine all the time, I hate that drawback.
In dusty areas like Kansa s you are doomed with anti reflective glasses.
This Video really helped clear my understanding with Anti-Glare on both sides vs Anti-Glare on one side vs Non-Anti-Glare glasses. I now prefer to go with Anti-Glare on both sides glasses without any confusion. Thanks a lot.
I always wondered this. Thanks.
Where are these eyeglasses, sunglasses, contacts, lenses company sponsor this doctor already hes so detailed its my comfort video
Good, looking forward for your new tutorial
Dr Allen, the ring light makes your eyes look magical!
Hahaha thanks for noticing! I have since stopped using the ring light but maybe some day I will pull it out again.
Great Video Doc, I often work on a computer and making videos for my clients, and the reflection I get in my glasses surely not a real good thing ... I will surely consider going for AR this time .. should consider both side AR or one Side AR is good for me?
I was told that the coating does deteriorate though from salt water or from stronger cleaning chemicals withch will leave you with ruined lenses. Thus if your the type to always wear glasses even while in the water or you work with cleaning chemicals that might splash now and then you might want to pass on the coating
Great information!
I'm a professional driver and can't see at night...I thought it was my eyes, now I think it's my glasses!
Unfortunately my insurance only covers the absolute very bare minimum. I think this is causing my eyesight to be worse!
I have to tilt my head up to see while driving at night and everything is still super blurry, etc. Can't read signs, can't read addresses... but fine during the day. Also I'm constantly taking my glasses off to read anything or look at things close up, or else it's super blurry. I can't see anything at all driving without them though, so it's required.
Also I clean them, blink, and they're all smudged again.
Thanks very much, will be getting it now!
Keep Posting .Great Video
Please make a video about 4 base out prism or prism in general. That's what I wear, plus nearsighted and astigmatism. Thanks!
Have Essilor crizal sapphire and transitions 7 coatings on my progressives (varilux x) and BOY do they make a difference in visual clarity especially driving at night.
What did you spend? $3000?
It is 2022. Thank you for explaining and now have a better understanding how antiglare works on glasses. Take care
Cheers!
Thank you for this video Doctor. I really like my progressive transition glasses. Due to an idiopathic double vision the lens are also prisms I also have a dry eye problem. When I am inside my car the transitions don’t work at all and the sun glare really bothers me. I wanted to add anti glare to my glasses but I was told that it wasn’t good for my type of lens. Any other recommendations you could suggest that would be helpful. Thank you!
Huge difference thanks 🙏
I didn’t know what it was when I purchased it. But I’m so glad I got it.
Thank you for sharing your expertise. If long-distance glasses (intended for driving) with anti-glare protection do not visibly reduce any glare, does it help to have the lenses additionally tinted (50%) or what is the best solution? Is it better to opt for adaptive lenses? My main problem is being blinded by modern LED lights from on coming traffic at night. I must be particularly light sensitive. My prescription is +1.50 and I do not wear glasses permanently. For reading, my prescription is add +2.25 for both eye. Thank you
Thanks a lot Dr. I would like to see a video comparing the AR coating vs the "new technology" Blue block filters on the lenses.. Like the video!!!!!
Me too!
Excellent. Very helpful
Thanks for the insight.
I wish I had clicked this video first and saved a lot of time. Thanks for explaining it all so well!
Thanks Louise! Glad you found the video so helpful!
The new Sapphire coating of crizal is amazing it almost reduces 97% of reflection.
Yeah, but it scratches if you so much as breathe on it.
As far as the blue light coating. I had a pair of high end glasses ordered and the coating actually made the reflection so bad front and back I couldn’t use them. Had to send them back. Don’t know why it was so bad but I’m finding a lot of online shops are actually cheaper with blue light blocking than without now.
Loved this vid! Thanks}} 💕💕
Nice explanation. Liked it
Thanks for the video it helped me decide on the coating that it's worth it
Glad I could help
Whole vid i had eye to eye contact . They looks so nice
Very helpful thank you
Doc. May i ask? Do dishwashing liquid remove my anti radiation on my eye glassess?
Omg my glasses AR layer started to bubble and flake! It’s so annoying!!
Mine work really well when I am driving at night.
My question is longevity of the coating. I need my glasses to last as long as possible. How long before it starts flaking n looks bad?
Helpful explanation
Great vid!! Thanks!!✌🏾
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for this info. I just ordered my first pair of prescription glasses yesterday. If I have anti glare or reflection would getting a Blue Light blocker be overkill? I called Visionworks that ordered them and they mentioned having Anti Glare will make them better for computer screen use and blue light blocker might be overkill with Anti glare. Any input?
I liked your honesty
very informative and deatailed
